  • Everytime I say Marian Diamond to my MD friends, their eyes widen, and say she is the foremost brilliant neuroanatomist in the world. I've taken this class and its true, she has true brilliance she has cultivated over her lifetime. Best anatomist ever.

  • I learn so much from youtube.

  • Basta! Si Ma'am Reyes ang best Biology Teacher na nakilala ko!!

  • Can I please trade in my instructor for this 'Diamond' in the rough?? Love her!!

  • I wish my professors were this accommodating.

  • ...

  • Very informative! But do these children still remember (or were even taught) hand writing?

  • Lecture starts at 19:35

  • Lol she is really fun i wish i had instructor in my college they way she is, make you feel you want to learn more and have her for next session classes. The one I am going to have gush is unavoidable, they were suit and ties expect us to know already biology and think we are working in the biology field. I think if we get instructors the way she is, we probably will learn a lot more and understand the concept, wont be difficult in our working field.

  • im an 8th grader and i love this stuff <3

  • Is great to be able to replay this kind of teachings.

  • Damn, this lady is legit.

  • that is a very good proff. She makes sure that her students understand the course material. very good

  • Im algerian my anatomy prof was that cool too :):)

  • lol

  • nevermind

  • nevermind

  • Thank you very much Berkley for providing such a great lecture. This gives me an idea of what is to come in my own Anatomy class next semester. I look forward to the next lectures.

  • I want her to be my teacher:(

  • Love the concept of copying handwritten notes from the board? "Old fashioned"? Please. She justifies it. Handwriting things helps you process and remember them but so many lecturers rely too heavily on PowerPoint slides. I encourage people to rediscover the virtues of copying by hand.

  • @Dylvente Sorry, first question mark should be a period.

  • @Dylvente I get your point. But keep in mind that not every professor has the types of handwritings that this professor does. I have had professors admitting to us that he sometimes can't read what he writes himself. The professors like him will just have to rely on PowerPoint presentations. Otherwise, nobody will be able to read the new medical terms that they're talking about in lecture.

  • @Dylvente she really knows how to teach!

  • She is awesome, I would love to be in her class :)

  • I think the reason 40 people dislike this is the same as my own, though only concern regarding the lecture. This has been posted as a lecture, yet most of it contains class specifics and room allocation, educational grading etc, and I, being English, and in England, have no need to know such.

Less info on rooms and marking, less chalk and writing, more student engagement with that 5 million years of educational wisdom and experience makes for far better learning and better watching.

    Cheers ^^

  • BOOM!

    Hehe!!!

    I an do fuuny!!!!!!!!

  • and i thought my ano professor was good.....this lady is amazing.....

  • Very interesting!

  • Great video! This will help me when I take Anatomy next year!

  • THE USA IS SHIT!!!!!!!

Sorry for any misspelling I come from Iran.

  • @OldSchoolLimited Shut up.

  • has she been fixed in formaldehide?

  • Great lecture! has anyone been able to read the vocabulary in the beginning?

if you were can you please tell me? thank you!

  • She is cool.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist dude it is the Orientation class, first class isn't meant to have huge amounts of material but to introduce students to the unit.

  • she is 200 years old.

  • Prof. Diamond, you are THE BOMB!

  • Great Video. Collegiate Independent Study Association rated this program collegiate quality. Collegiate Independent Study Free Open University project gives credit for watching this video.

  • Professor Marian Diamond, what you do is invaluable for our progression, thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and intellect.

  • How lucky to have a professor like her. How I wish we have one. I will surely learn a lot from her. Very informative and clear. Thanks Prof!

  • 4:00 eww put that down ew

  • i cant wait for college!! teachers like her makes me want to learn <3

  • Ms. Diamond, you are awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Luv this woman! Writing isn't super clear but she repeats so it works

  • why do they still use a blackboard?

    just wondering

  • @beyondthelol She says why at 29:23

  • @superGoodjuju she says why she writes it, not why its on a black board. they should be using atleast white boards haha

  • @beyondthelol

Yeah, I guess she's just keepin it old school all the way ;)

  • Dr. Diamond ROCKS!!!!

  • she's such a dear! so much sweeter compared to my anatomy teacher

  • fantastic lecture pity I can barely read her writing

  • fantastic lecture just wish her writing was more clearer!!

  • @tiptopknot because its more worth than yours

  • awesome teacher. I'd love to study at Berkely now and be her student, only I live at the other side of the globe. :) oh well, i can still be her student through her videos.

  • Very interesting but the audio is very very POOR.

  • amazing teacher i like you ms diamond :DDDDD thankyou sooooo much

  • Amazing professor. I'm definitely applying to UC Berkeley for med school.

  • Too bad most college classes arent interesting like this but make you feel as though your wasting time

  • Is this standard of teaching normal at Berkeley?

  • I want her to teach me :( I'm just worried about next year cuz I always hear that most uni profs are assholes! But this lady is a legend! She knows how to reach your mind

  • PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR LUNGS FROM THE CHALKS POWDER.

  • excellent!

  • WOW never seen a Professor so dedicated!!!!! THNX youtube, now i get 2 learn a bit from 1!!! ;))

  • I am currently doing Biomedical Sciences at the University of Lincoln - I don't have brilliant hearing and my lecturer for Anatomy & Physiology is from Egypt so I rarely understand a word he is saying. Thank you, you may have just saved my degree !

  • i feel like a nerd, i knew what penis meant :D

  • This lady is an absolute legend

  • 2:35pm Sunday (PST) - Time in California

  • In the 1980s, University of California, Berkeley professor Marian C. Diamond persuaded Thomas Harvey to give her samples of Einstein's brain

  • reallii wish the quality of the video was way better but i reallii enjoy the lectures

  • @lilsna13

what the hell is wrong with the quality?

  • I credit you with my A's in Anatomy and Physiology labs!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

  • I love this lecture of Prof. Diamond. Thank you UC Berkeley

  • May I ask you? Do you know this virus with a powerful impact on the chest coughing very much, losing energi ,soon very tired, walking few meters and forced to take a rest, losing weight, urine smelt, illness for three months, this virus was breathing in through the neck and began immediately with blood!!., mar kjartansson 24t blog Mingler.dk

  • @markjartansson

I am NOT a doctor. But maybe Tuberculosis? Coughing up blood, fever, loss of appetite, weight loss, night sweats. Those are some symptoms.

  • @markjartansson i am not docteur, pneumonia may be

  • thanks you very much berkeley for another excellent serie of lectures. I'll try to follow this even when im not a biological science studendt(actually a physical science student), but i love biology too and i can't be good with my self knowing that this top lectures are online.

ps:wish they have a better video quality so i/we could see the text that she writing

  • This lady is awesome

  • From this, I think the whole school is amazing.

  • I am so happy to have found this. What a wonderful, well-rounded educator! She COMMANDS attention.

Thank-you so much to whoever posted this. I can tell already i may like these videos more than my actual Anatomy & Physiology class.

  • God this brings tears to my eyes, all those years I've studied just to get a good grade, never was I so inspired by someone and I'm only ten minutes in.

  • thats how anatomy should be taught and they way I taught myself,i was always interested in word origins anyway and found remembering much easier .

  • Wow! She's awesome!

  • @GetItRight222

9:03 She talks about having lunch with 2 students. She probably wants to have a three some for the biology XXXtra Credit. Hey Lonley old women need lovin to :) lol!!!!!

  • @SnakeCIA1 wow....that is such a narrow minded comment. This woman clearly enjoys what she is doing and takes a personal interest in her student and you makes a stupid such comment regarding her intensions. There needs to be more educators like her. If more professors were like that then we would not have idiotic people such as yourself making narrow minded comments. In a class of more hundreds of students she finds time to get to know them on an individual basis. I wish my profs were like her

  • @trinity197926

Take it easy friend I was only joking. I agree 100 percent and its sad that there are no professors like her.

  • absolutely fantastic!

  • she is sent from heaven to learn how to apreciate and educate our self about our own body parts!!

  • @samira5213 _Pervert.

  • this is bullshit

  • She's hot!!!

  • @Enturbanon I'd like to lick her X chromosomes. (She may be old but she's still technically a woman.)

  • I teach Anatomy & Physiology at a university, and I use Professor Diamond as my instructor. I love how she brings things to life and is able to throw a hook in a certain topic so it will never be forgotten. God bless you, Dr. Diamond!

  • where is this taking place at?

  • such a great teacher!!!!

    thank you so much!!!!!!!

these lectures give to people an opportunity to learn something new or refresh their knowledge!!! amazing!!!

  • Dear Ms. Diamond

    Dear University of California Berkely

I really enjoyed this lecture especially that I have a bad professor who teaches me Anatomy.

I can still recall the information that you mentioned in in this lecture, although I watched it before more than 24 hours.

I wish that every university shares its best, to contribute to a better education.

    Thank You.

  • awesomeeeee .

  • she is clearly a great teacher :)

  • me too I'm an LPN and getting ready to start distance learning and am so thankful for this!!!

  • I'm an LPN doing my RN through a distance learning program-so it's all self-study. I've never had a chance to attend a real lecture as a student, let alone one at Berkley. This is so amazing. Thank you so much for posting this. You are a great teacher-wish I could have lunch with you!

  • Im laying nude on my coutch at 1.49 am scratching my balls and learning human anatomy. How awesome is that. Thanks ancestors, from all the single celled organisms to the first organisms resembling modern humanbeings, this is what you all fought a brutal tale for.

  • Thank you very much for making this video available. I think I've learned a bit :)

  • Before I waist hours going through these...would watching these make me be able to get human anatomy for "drawing" or just medical purposes.

  • Actually she started the lecture by "Alright", which does not sound enywhere near "Good Morning". I smell hypocrasy!

  • absolutely awesome video! this lady is the coolest. im taking anatomy online with the help of these videos i feel like i'm taking it in a classroom. this is great.

  • Very good introduction, I shall be watching more of this!

  • This woman is amazing!

  • There should be more lectures online.

    This is amazing.

  • Unbelievable, I wish I found this a semester ago.

  • the thing she sais at the beginning about saying good morning is wrong, for me.

For me a 'good morning' is mostly a sarcastic phrase, so you don't have to make further talk with your "opponent".

  • thank goodness my prof does powerpoints!

  • i can not read her writing at 6:00 anyone got it written out by any chance? thnks

  • you are phenominan mess..go!!!

  • what an amazing professor. obviously she loves what she's teaching about.

  • thank you! all that needs to be said, you are helping me on my university journey, can't thank you enough for sure.

  • Excellent. Thanks for putting these on line. Teaching the teacher new ways of presenting material. I like your first introductory questions. Gets students thinking immediately. Education and knowledge is power. If you don't have it, it's your loss. Anatomy? Physiology? How the body works and functions is the most amazing complex incredible stuff in the universe. The more you learn the more wonderous it is.

  • shes adorable and free college level info is rad!

  • @5tonyvvvv some people like knowledge. and whats the use of ur profanity? stupid people like you make everything worse

  • @5tonyvvvv If you ever have to go to the hospital and get a doc or nurse who dont know this, let us know how your treatment turns out buddy...

  • @5tonyvvvv

Your an IDIOT! Next time you at the doctors office bc you hurt your arm while beating off to pics of your mom you should ask the doctor how important anatomy is.

  • @5tonyvvvv I see what you mean, but how you are thinking about it is exactly how they want to think about it, and there are a lot of useless things they teach in schools but i think thats very often the teachers fault for being a stupid bitch, but there are good ones out there, and you should listen to those teachers because they do have a lot to teach. I think the education system is so fucked up that it's very difficult to learn what you need without being distracted by something useless.

  • @5tonyvvvv

lets see you say that to your surgeon. i'd prefer if he or she knew the anatomy of my body. idiot.

  • I like professors like this. Some of my professors are too friendly and others act as if they don't feel like teaching.

  • I really enjoyed this video and will recommend it to my friends. The professor

    truly is a gifted teacher.

  • Man she is an awesome professor but I find it difficult to read her writing, I'm not a hand writing guy...

  • I love how into the subject of anatomy she is. My teacher just doesnt seem to know how to express herself so this is just so refreshing to hear someone who knows what they're talking about and who knows how to explain it to others.

  • I love that it looks like she's using a hat box to store the brain. I think she's adorable and I would love to of had her for my college anatomy class.

  • Wow they still use chalk boards... O_O

  • That 2 minutes was fast lamo

  • GOD BLESS .... Professor MARIAN .

  • not good handwriting for a professor

  • @students Do you guys really think that just because she explains things in a manner that you can understand easily, that that is enough to make her a good teacher? Don't u think that maybe she is explaining it in this way because she thinks that most of u aren't capable of understanding or following her if she discussed it as though she were talking 2 people who really were prepared 4 college? What she takes 20 min to explain, u SHOULD b able 2 understand n 5 min. College wasn't meant 2 b easy!

  • The comments from some of the students below illustrate perfectly what I have been saying previously about the poor quality of American education today. Just LOOK at the spelling errors! Those aren't TYPOS, those are the typical errors one would see in a class of 5th graders and you people are PRETENDING that you are capable of passing college level studies?! Most of you are probably getting A's, not because you deserve them but because the university passes out a course evaluation form...

  • @USStateSponTerrorism You are incredibly rude and judgmental, just because one person is using 'net spelling' doesn't mean we all write like that for one. Also, we work hard for our grades, like every country there are easy classes and hard classes, and there are teachers that thoroughly explain things for all to understand and fast paced teachers that only allow top level students to keep up. I've had professors from other countries and they teach very similar if not the same as teachers here.

  • at the end of the course where you can punish the professor for not giving you a good grade in the course. So in order to keep his job and his chances of promotion, he caves in and gives students much higher grades than they deserve. This is happening all over the USA and it is destroying the quality of the education you receive. It is producing millions of college graduates who should never have even graduated from high school! You may get the grades but you won't qualify for the jobs.

  • @college students Take a look around the campus especially in the science and engineering departments, where students actually have to be above average in intelligence to succeed in those courses. U will see a high number of people from Asian countries, China,Japan,Pakistan,India, etc. That isn't because of a minority QUOTA program, it's because THEY have received a better education up through high school than many of OUR students n so when they come here they have little trouble with the courses.

  • Even though she is an excellent teacher, the level of the discussion is what should be used at the junior high school level, not university. I am not criticizing her, I'm criticizing our entire educational system and I think I have the right to do that since I taught college 4 half my life in 2 countries. US education is outdated, ineffective, uninteresting, biased, commercialized, politicized, full of fraud of all kinds, prone to massive cheating, and repression of free speech is institutionalized.

  • I taught college classes for 7 years in the United States and 75% of my students, who were mostly black, read at what I would consider a 5th grade level. They were irresponsible in their studies and their attitudes and opinions would assure them of eventual failure unless they changed dramatically. Students would threaten instructors that if they didn't give them the grade they wanted, they would give the instructor a bad course evaluation at the end of the course. Deans ignored these facts.

  • If an attorney or college dean would like to challenge me to prove what I've said and even more, please do so and I will be glad to post actual scanned documents, grade rosters, exams, threatening emails, downloads of term papers from cheat sites, etc. University education in the US is at least in 80% of cases, a fraud against the students, their parents, and our nation. If u r a young person who seriously wants to improve your life, you need to stop listening to the bullshit that they advertise.

  • @USStateSponTerrorism hei, this is just an introductory course, and when u say, INTRODUCTORY subjects, just general and not that very specific, because it is a preparatory subjetc for ur HIGHER SUBJECTS, please when u want higher subject lecture discussion, then watch some, not these, becoz this is just a preparatory course, my goodness gracious...

  • God bless you

  • who are the 34 dbags that disliked this video? this professor has to be one of the best educators i have come across...
