While their intentions may have been in the right place (to help her with pain and get over the insurmountable loss of Daniel) the line between patient and friend or patient and neighbour (I know Erosovich was her neighbour in L.A.) or whatever were clearly way too blurred. There are some good Drs but finding them is not always plain & simple. Asking others to recommend a good Dr is one way.

Anna may have though Stern was getting drugs for her to help her have a stash but his real motive was letting people know she had a drug problem so it would not shock the world when he decided to make her OD.

It all depends on if the depression is clinical or situational. And a lot of doctors do try to use it as a band-aid or quick fix. Like I was telling someone, the first thing they tried to do after I got stabbed was put me on an SSRI, when I responded yes that I was depressed. I would think it would be more odd if I was not depressed.

I can appreciate your concern about people needing their meds, but its the way these people went about obtaining them illegally that is the first legal problem.

If they needed to prescribe such great quantities, they could have gotten an approval from the governing medical/pharmaceutical body, to show transparency.

Using fake names on prescriptions is not only medically unethical- it is highly illegal and carries huge penalties for all medical professionals and anyone else involved.

I know what you mean. My friend was used as a guinea pig for every migraine prevetitive out there, none of which helped, and his doc refused to put him on what really helped b/c of his age, but was willing to give him sample packs (b/c the drug companies really call the shots) of almost everything imaginable. Another thing, after I was stabbed by my best friend, (literally, and almost died) my old dr asked me if I was depressed, obviously, yes. Out came the pad. Shouldn't I have been depressed?

Because of things like this, narcotics negative side effects are highly more publicized than things like SSRIs, & if you look up the consequences of some of these meds, they are the same or worse than narcs. But, the fact that it is more open that narcs are "bad" and the others are "good" makes it much harder to get ahold of the right medications. I have a friend who has sometimes taken my meds, & they are the only thing that help, but he doesn't have a dr that is willing to prescribe, so he's

In times of desperation, people do desperate things Also, doctors seem to not know the difference between situational depression and actual clinical depression. I got correctly diagnosed later & the meds they were trying to put me on, that I WAS actually on for a year, were wrong for me & made me worse. Anna was very intelligent, and she definitely "wore the pants" in that family! I, too, am tired of the "Howard Haters," and I believe he loved her with all his being. He didn't wanted to damage her reputation, or her memory. (true love and loyalty)

Dr. Cyril Wecht, an M.E., said that the medications in her system were in therapeutic amounts, except for the chloral hydrate. He's also an attorney, and has said in past statements that opinions of murder "in Anna/Daniel" are simply ludicrous.

I completely agree with you. Anna is accountable for her own addiction. You're right about the government once again getting in people's business. In April the online med websites will all be closed, and they will begin to charge companies and individuals who try to order form the internet. There are peoploe who legitimately need pain meds and thanks to those such as Anna Nicole who abuse the system, people who NEED the medication for non-recreational use, can't get it. Obviously there were points in Anna Nicole's life when she did abuse medications. This is going to be a controversial remark, but I don't see anything wrong with narcotics being use as anti-depressants. I was talking to my dr one day, and I said, "I'm worred because when I take my pills, I feel so much happier". He responded unlike many drs by saying, "what's wrong with that?". Drs are willing to prescribe meds that alter the chemicals in your brain (ssris and such) yet if it causes "euphoria"

My doctor is liberal with the amount of medication he gives me, but I also have a responsibility to take them as directed. **sorry contin again**, when they're with my doctor for the certain period they have to be, he always explains in great detail my situation and how narcotics & barbituates, etc (meds that have now gotten a bad rep, because of "euphoria") ARE necissary. He is a good dr. I worry about what's to come when he retires. He is one of the best pain specialists & psychiatrists in my country. He knows how my meds interacts & knows how to listen & not make a mess of things.

I don't see the difference between prescribing something that increases the serintonin in your brain, altering chemicals with no euphoria, than something that does similar things & creates euphoria. The side effects of narcotics are more publicized, but if you look up the side effects of things like Paxil, Zoloft, etc, or Serintonin syndrome,& the results can be just as bad or worse. I do believe Anna needed the meds at the time she passed. Her tolerance was also much higher.

That's not true at all. I am not going to tell you how many pills I go through in a month, but with everything I'm on, I will say, it adds up to being well over 600. Not all narcotics, I want to be clear, but with all the pills I am on, it does go above, some pills must be taken every 6 hours, every day etc. You say it's no stranger to any of us, but you don't seem to know much about it.

I completely agree with you about pain meds. It's barbaric to allow a person to experience agonizing pain, when there is help available. I know people with such bad back pain from ruptured discs..they've tried suicide. When you're dealing with it on that level, just write the prescription....but as you said, it's difficult to find a good pain doctor (thanks to the government controls).

Honestly, you don't have anything to go on here but what's being reported in the press. The 600 pills were probably a mix of different things. Who knows what? Maybe some narcotics, maybe some anti-depressants, maybe some diet pills? I don't know, nor do you. Whatever, I truly feel sorry for Anna, but I just don't care all that much about this case. The burden of proof is on the prosecution. I guess you'll have to wait/see what happens to Stern.
