Damn-this game had incredible writing. Such depth, such meaning. Games today don't really compare. KOTOR was a league all it's own.
As for Yuthura, she's always really interested me. My first playthrough of KOTOR I made the mistake of killing Juhani in the Grove (Really wanted that lightsaber) and was incredibly curious and anxious to see who my final party member was going to be.
When I saw Yuthura, given her unique appearance, I immediately assumed it was going to be her. She didn't. :(
Chris Avellone's brilliant work on the sequel notwithstanding, this scene, combined with the endless betrayals and cruelty on Korriban, gives the lie to anyone who fails (or refuses) to see the crucial difference between the Jedi and the Sith - or worse, sees the Jedi as the real villains. @Gmanunit13vers2 make sure you have high persuade. choose the dialog option "tell me about yourself." after u quit the conversation, keep talking to her about her past. just keep choosing the right dialog options and soon you'll get to a point where EVERY time you talk to her she'll say "Greetings, friend. (chuckles) I do rather enjoy saying that" as a greeting. then at the last test, side with her against uthar. then you'll fight her, SPARE her, choose the right dialog and she'll be redeemed.
Yuthura really was the most impressive of her kind that we meet in both KOTORs. Not just those great markings, those tats, but her persona, flawed as it is yet believable. Funny, she does invoke compassion.
I would hope she's survived the bombing of Dantooine, but then again, TOR is the next sequel to this storyline and I don't care much if she's an NPCs in an MMO.
Wonder how long it'll be till KOTOR returns to singleplayer. I fear it'll remain stagnant as an MMO for too long, as Warcraft has.
@Banzay27 TOR has nothing related to KOTOR. Except for the main characters that marked galactic history like Malak and Revan, don't expect to see any references about KOTOR characters.
If only they had done what Mass Effect is doing, I would really like to see more continuity between kotor 1 and 2. Also i would very much like to see a Kotor 3, but that'll never happen now.
What's the point of going to Korriban unexperienced just to save Yuthura, then go to Dantooine to just talk to her when she dies anyway in the bombardment after? I always visit Korriban last and I kill both Uthar and Yuthura.

What you care about or what you're afraid of can be used to control you. Hence, weakness, in Sith eyes. The Sith value ruthlessness to do whatever advances your own power, without regard for how others may suffer. Tears indicate you may care enough to choose a person's good over your agenda.
@Kinkseraph It isnt so much a matter of physical weakness, it is more a form of emotional weakness. If you cry, it demonstrates you have lost control over your emotions, and in some situations, it underscores a lower tolerance for pain, which can definitely be seen as a weakness in relation to combat. Where as nowadays people are encouraged to think of crying as brave, they never think to wonder why crying was shunned beforehand; as a strong display of your resolve in the face of your emotions.

I like to think that Yuthura survived the destruction of the Dantooine Academy. If Vandar and the council did, along with several others who knows? In any case - after the First Purge the Order rebuilt and recovered. Speaking of recovery - Yuthura's redemption sounds very much like an addict who is getting their life back on track. She'd never be completely free of the taint, but the fact she turned away from its corruption is a sign of great strength of will. I like to think she did find peace.
The Jedi can be ambiguous in the first game, but in the second they really come out as assholes. In the first, they seemed to be conservative and overly cautious, while in the second they seemed to be cowards, hypocrites and terrible liars.
At some pointin the game Dantooine is bombed. So this mean that Korriban quest has to be finished early in the game to see Yuthura in enclave. If not, then there is no option to save her, I believe.
You can still save her if you go to Korriban as the last planet (after Dantooine is destroyed), but you won't see her again like here. I would presume she would have found the destruction on Dantooine then headed off to Coruscant.
@ThemanwhonoscopedJFK Yes but she didn't defy the Jedi Coucil's decision to join the Mandalorian wars and partake in the Destruction of Malachor V. She left here to join the Sith look at Juhani she struck her master and left to join the darkside out of remorse and they took her back too.

I wish there was a way to pick who you wanted as your official party. Like switch out somebody or have unlimited room for others, that way the game designers could make it possible to persuade anyone onto your team. Just think...an entire party of Mandalorians, or Jedi, or Sith, or anything! Just a thought...and a difficult idea to accomplish I'm sure, but it would make every single gameplay all the more different.

I think Lucas(Arts) said they didn't want any homosexual relationships in the game, I guess that's why BioWare was only able to squeeze in a hint of something with Juhani at the end, but I think my female character would have gotten along well with Yuthura.
Ah well, at least I was able to get something going with Liara in Mass Effect. Hopefully there's more of her in ME3. :)
Thanks for posting this. After playing the game 3-4 times over the years I just now finally managed to persuade Yuthura to go away from the Sith, but I did it too far into the game and the Leviathan hit, so I can't see her dialog on Dantooine.
I like Juhani, but not as much as Yuthura. I wish she was my companion instead. I don't know how they would have been able to do it unless your path through Korriban was forced after Dantooine. Then you could come back and get her right away.
ok... i actually had no idea that it was even possible to redeem her.. i've completed this game 3 times now... n i've only just discovered that you can actually save bastilla. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE!
it really doesn't matter, in the end, Raven is actually ment to be a guy, as you can see in KOTOR2, but they still give you a chance to be a girl in this game. But i don't think its any easier, the only thing that changes is the story between you and certain teamates
@xCarbonx09 Those don't seem to be Revan's robes. They are too lightly colored. They aren't the light side robes from the Star Forge. Most likely it's a mod. There are a lot of gear mods for the game out there. Never use any mod other than the one to restore cut content in Kotor II, so I don't know which mod would get those robes.
@xCARBONx09 You get Revan's robes on the Star Forge if you are Dark side. There is a console that will crank out various items for you not very far from the end. Sadly you don't get to use them long.
I love both of the KoTOR games and I shudder to think at what Lucas Arts were thinking when they rushed out the second game, I mean, they literally had to cut a planet plus quests, items and plot expansions out of the game to release by the 2004 christmas deadline. (I think it was 2004 anyway?). That left quite a big gap in the tales (especially those from Kreia) and overall left alot of questions un-answered.
I know TSL Restoration has been making mods but it's just not the same you know...
I've played the first kotor at least 15 times, and each time i found something new that makes the story so much more interesting, i never knew yuthura goes back to dantooine, i already learned something, usually my pc is too weak to go to korriban in the first 3 planets.
They wouldn't. What makes KOTOR so magical is that it exists in our imaginations. The possibilities (male, female, light, dark) are the best qualities of the game. Making one storyline with actors and a definite ending would suck... especially if it were directed by Lucas.
its cool that you can run into her on dantoonie but doing so before the academy is destroyed will be like sending to her death. I'd still only reedem her after the academy is destroyed cause then she'd be spared of it
Kudos to you for being truly light side, whenever i go through the game i do light side but i always kill all the baddies i can, and i always just kill them both on korrobin, its actually easier to tell them you choose yourself and fight them together then to one by one or even just defeating one and leaving the other.
Probably not. I mean she was a former sith lord, she most likely knew of malaks plans for dantooine and fled the planet with her jedi masters and some of the other masters. I hope in Kotor 3 the let you have characters like Bastila, Canderous, Juhani, Mission, Zaalbar, Hanharr, Jolee maybe, Visas, Handmaiden, Mira, Carth, Bao Dur, Atris, Hk, T3, not Goto because he was annoying all as team partners, Except showing them a bit more matured, make all those who werent force sensitve into JEDI.
I have made several attempts to redeem both Yuthara and Mekel but have a hard time succeeding but watchin these videos will certainly come in handy in knowing what to do and when to do it. thank you for creating these videos I'll be sure to make good use of them when I play through this game again one day^^
I think I've played this game like 3 times, and I didn't know you could do this. Each time I tried to do things differently then the last play through. Even after so many different choices I've made, there are still more to be made. The people at Bioware are masters at what they do, this is truly the best RPG I've ever played.
What a fascinating conversation. I never got to see this since I usually do Korriban last.
This scene is both thoughtful and well-written; it's a cut above the rest of KotOR's already impressive dialogue. Yuthura is a surprisingly three dimensional character (more so than even many of your party members); it's a pity they didn't use her more.

I wish there was a way to pick who you wanted as your official party. Like switch out somebody or have unlimited room for others, that way the game designers could make it possible to persuade anyone onto your team. Just think...an entire party of Mandalorians, or Jedi, or Sith, or anything! Just a thought...and a difficult idea to accomplish I'm sure, but it would make every single gameplay all the more different.

@revanisthebest She still goes to Dantooine but you can't go there it is quite stupid. But it doesn't effect my attitude towards the game.

I think Lucas(Arts) said they didn't want any homosexual relationships in the game, I guess that's why BioWare was only able to squeeze in a hint of something with Juhani at the end, but I think my female character would have gotten along well with Yuthura.
Ah well, at least I was able to get something going with Liara in Mass Effect. Hopefully there's more of her in ME3. :)

Thanks for posting this. After playing the game 3-4 times over the years I just now finally managed to persuade Yuthura to go away from the Sith, but I did it too far into the game and the Leviathan hit, so I can't see her dialog on Dantooine.
I like Juhani, but not as much as Yuthura. I wish she was my companion instead. I don't know how they would have been able to do it unless your path through Korriban was forced after Dantooine. Then you could come back and get her right away.

ok... i actually had no idea that it was even possible to redeem her.. i've completed this game 3 times now... n i've only just discovered that you can actually save bastilla. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE!

it really doesn't matter, in the end, Raven is actually ment to be a guy, as you can see in KOTOR2, but they still give you a chance to be a girl in this game. But i don't think its any easier, the only thing that changes is the story between you and certain teamates

@xCarbonx09 Those don't seem to be Revan's robes. They are too lightly colored. They aren't the light side robes from the Star Forge. Most likely it's a mod. There are a lot of gear mods for the game out there. Never use any mod other than the one to restore cut content in Kotor II, so I don't know which mod would get those robes.

@xCARBONx09 You get Revan's robes on the Star Forge if you are Dark side. There is a console that will crank out various items for you not very far from the end. Sadly you don't get to use them long.

I love both of the KoTOR games and I shudder to think at what Lucas Arts were thinking when they rushed out the second game, I mean, they literally had to cut a planet plus quests, items and plot expansions out of the game to release by the 2004 christmas deadline. (I think it was 2004 anyway?). That left quite a big gap in the tales (especially those from Kreia) and overall left alot of questions un-answered.
I know TSL Restoration has been making mods but it's just not the same you know...

I've played the first kotor at least 15 times, and each time i found something new that makes the story so much more interesting, i never knew yuthura goes back to dantooine, i already learned something, usually my pc is too weak to go to korriban in the first 3 planets.

They wouldn't. What makes KOTOR so magical is that it exists in our imaginations. The possibilities (male, female, light, dark) are the best qualities of the game. Making one storyline with actors and a definite ending would suck... especially if it were directed by Lucas.

its cool that you can run into her on dantoonie but doing so before the academy is destroyed will be like sending to her death. I'd still only reedem her after the academy is destroyed cause then she'd be spared of it

Kudos to you for being truly light side, whenever i go through the game i do light side but i always kill all the baddies i can, and i always just kill them both on korrobin, its actually easier to tell them you choose yourself and fight them together then to one by one or even just defeating one and leaving the other.

Probably not. I mean she was a former sith lord, she most likely knew of malaks plans for dantooine and fled the planet with her jedi masters and some of the other masters. I hope in Kotor 3 the let you have characters like Bastila, Canderous, Juhani, Mission, Zaalbar, Hanharr, Jolee maybe, Visas, Handmaiden, Mira, Carth, Bao Dur, Atris, Hk, T3, not Goto because he was annoying all as team partners, Except showing them a bit more matured, make all those who werent force sensitve into JEDI.

I have made several attempts to redeem both Yuthara and Mekel but have a hard time succeeding but watchin these videos will certainly come in handy in knowing what to do and when to do it. thank you for creating these videos I'll be sure to make good use of them when I play through this game again one day^^

I think I've played this game like 3 times, and I didn't know you could do this. Each time I tried to do things differently then the last play through. Even after so many different choices I've made, there are still more to be made. The people at Bioware are masters at what they do, this is truly the best RPG I've ever played.

What a fascinating conversation. I never got to see this since I usually do Korriban last.
This scene is both thoughtful and well-written; it's a cut above the rest of KotOR's already impressive dialogue. Yuthura is a surprisingly three dimensional character (more so than even many of your party members); it's a pity they didn't use her more.
