This has been the best auto knife that I have owned. Picked it up before my fist deployment in 08 and have thumped on it in Iraq and Afgan doing convoys and this knife keeps going. Only problem I have with it is its a pain in the ass to take apart and clean due to the axis lock but it's a awsome blade would suggest it to anyone needing a hard use auto knife

But is there the possibility that this knife might not be considered an auto because you are initiating the locking mechanism of the knife to open it up, rather than sliding a switch or pressing a button? I just got the all black 5000 and I love it! I wil say that I can see where it may tear up pants pockets. The ribbs are pretty rough. It came with a really nice sheath that has a quick loop on the top for ez deployment. All around a great edc. ..

@familyphotoshoot CRKT has some good stuff, and by some, i mean 2 knives. one is designed by ken onion who is awesome, and i dont know about the other one. the ripple is one of my favorite knives, made by CRKT, and the drifter is a throw away good use knife. ALSO CRKT had a collaboration with Chris reeves (bet you didn't know that) and they made a production copy more affordable sabenza. but Chris reeve changed his mind and it was never released, but i found one. so CRKT is fine.

I do have a comment on heavy V.S light folders. For those of us who have weapon throwing skills, a heavy folder can be be deployed closed. I have actually thrown a closed, HEAVY folder in the face of an attacker, and he crumpled like a twig. Broken cheek bone.

Also, kubotan skills are better served with heavy instruments.
