  • 4:56 The guy that appeared... kind of reminds me of pedobear.

  • raocow's wisdom: lightning is scary, wind is also scary, parallel parking is also scary!

  • Hm, tbh this boss and the one in VIP 2 keep making me think of K'Rool from DKC 2. You don't have a lot of hits but it's like a freakin' endurance match.

  • ...die for your inaBLPT-

  • wow imagine this no save states or rewinds

  • do you like vocaloid, raocow? .3.

  • 0:45

    OH MY GOD PODOBOPODOBOPODOBOPODOBO

  • Except for the attacks it's juts a noob boss :3

  • Whenever this goes to the "The End" Screen, i can't exit it. I press start select A ect. Any Ideas?

  • When will VIP 5 be released? :P

  • That first cat with the knife has boobs

  • if you go to the 2ch home page you see a cool drawing of a lot of memes spawnned of 2ch, you'll say lots of stuff from VIP

  • THANK YOU FOR PLAY

  • Hn. This is my (really bad) attempt at translated some text boxes.

The red text reads: "... Nogasan... Omae dake wa..." Search me as to what "nogasan" refers to, but the other part reads, "You're just..."

The battle text says: "(Boon face) Bikibiki-- Detteiu ni te wo dashita koto yurusano! Ikuzo!" Also no idea about "bikibiki." Probably a sound effect given the nature of Japanese sound effects. The battle text says something like, "Detteiu is in the hands of another, give up! Let's go!"

  • @tikku77andahalf , I believe that Noga-san is the name of the final boss, and the other part is "You are the only one [remaining]"

  • This is the similar brutal mario boss's cat

  • yea, carol coded the VIP boss and in brutal mario, he/she/it recoded the thing, giving it new attacks and stuff, and WAY new graphics =P

  • The whole no savestates rule turned this LP upside-down from VIPs 2 and 3. In every single aspect.

    74 videos as opposed to the 47 in VIP 2 & 3.

Yeeeah...maybe pick a less gimmicky hack to do savestateless. I stilll thought this was pretty cool though. The story actually got my attention, which is really saying something.

Too bad it's not really prevalent till the end of the game though.

  • HOOAH!!! hoo ahh hoo ahh

  • I thought he might have gone insane around 6:52 due to the insane laughter but he seemed ok afterwards.

  • 4:29-4:39 was great lol :)

  • So what would you say was the most deadly of the seven attacks?

  • "PODOBO-PODOBO-PODOBO-PODOBO-PODOBO...!" sounds hilarious when chipmunked. xD

  • Can anyone explain to me what happened at 6:30 ?

  • Well if you're talking about the mask showing up, that happening, as well as the whole boss battle and music as well is from an SNES RPG called Romancing the SaGa 2. The final boss is several demons (or bosses I can't quite remember) formed together in a cloud like it has been portrayed here. Without the mask they cannot survive together. I haven't played the game in a while so don't assume I'm perfectly correct. But I'm pretty close. :P

  • oh and apparently that final message block is a reference to romancing saga 2 as well. you get that same message if you try to leave the final room. :overanalyzing a romhack:

  • "that guy has rose power and i have miss with my shell power" lololol

  • 4:29 - 4:39 was a great bit :)

  • Supah Spinnah Boon part was the only part I needed to use stavestates. The turnblock and ball n' chain hoppin' was too hard.

  • awesome work, sir! I enjoyed this LP greatly! I'm sorry it was so hard for you in places.

I look forward to RttC :D

  • Oh, and you can spin jump on the flowers, but it's too late now, lol.

  • I suspect that you're not liking these kinds of bosses because you're using save states. So every time you load a state, the fact that you have to wait for *the weapon* becomes emphasized, and then you might begin to wonder why they couldn't just do away with things because the randomness is so pronounced.

TBQH, you seem to be getting a little... whinier (for lack of a better word) as time passes. Maybe it's because of the whole challenge thing (stupid post limit)...

  • Maybe it's because you somehow got into and learned about Japanese memes between last year and this year. The thing is that your usage of "Carol boss" is so frequent that it seems like a curse or an excuse.

I don't mean to come off as really negative, but I watch this video and realize that your first one was way better. You were less legalistic about "challenges" and you just did whatever and there was no implication that you were trying to satisfy specific people's demands.

  • On another note, I'm pretty sure the boss is supposed to mimic the behaviour of the Seven Heroes in RS2. I haven't played it myself, but apparently every part attacks at every turn and stuff. Also, K. Rool was almost exactly the same deal, several times.

  • The term "Carol boss" is kind of overplayed by this point, I'd agree, especially since that's what the ORIGINAL Super Mario World final boss was, really - waiting for Bowser to toss out his freaking mechakoopas. Then again, the TSRPR final boss seemed rather... less tense, considering how difficult the final stages were? So maybe Carol - even if his/her level design needs more work and less DKC plagarism/ASM hacking - has the right idea for bosses.

Just as good as last year's VIP4, otherwise.

  • I kinda have to 100% agree with you here. This VIP4 run through had a distinct 'oh no I have to do what other people want' vibe to it, and I find my own videos a lot harder to enjoy towards the end.

I'm planning on return to a more freeform style with RttC for that very reason.

  • I think the turning point was just about the time you stopped having fun doing it with restrictions. :C TSRPR is a lot more condusive to the savestateless style of play, or maybe even something on the easier side like Rob-Omb's Quest.

    But not the VIPs.

  • Lol chipmunk time...

    Potabopotabopotabo!

  • Awesome boss, awesome music (Romancing Saga 2, last battle). Awesome LP. <3 Raocow

  • grats, epic win!

  • THANK YOU FOR PLAY!

  • But why was Botaro (sp?) one of the seven? I thought he was our friend! We should have left him to the wolves when he first showed up.

Nonetheless: Congrats raocow on another victory. I can't wait for you to start the next hack!

  • That final boss was of good design. never seen anything like it. kudos to vip and wall, and kudos to you, Raocow, for beating it! *audience applauds*

  • This boss has the powers of Earth (flower), fire, wind, electricity, light...and disco.

  • Wow...

Seems like just yesterday you were starting VIP1.

    THEY GO BY SO FAST!!

    D'=

Oh well, can't wait for RttC.

  • I hope VIP5 will have a custom ending. The original ending really is..not good.

  • congrats on beating VIP4 raocow

  • red box: "'... there is no escape...

    ...just you..."

the last message I think is boon speaking or it wouldn't really make sense: "I won't forgive you for going after detteiu. Let's go!"

next time I guess I'll be translating english to japanese

  • @Kil6969

    I

  • Is there an ETA on the release of VIP5 yet?

  • Disco Power!

  • One, two, three, ..Podobo!

  • Oh boy it's been a blast. You're pretty much the most delivering LP'er I've "met".

    Just wanted to say that!

Also of course I'm looking forward to Rise of the Challenge just as much as to VIP 5!

  • The final bosses of the VIP series - always lead to a very anti-climatic ending... :|

  • Especially this one, which actually had some form of plot towards the end

  • You finally did it Raocow! Next time you try and attempt something completely save-stateless remind me to slap you with a rubber bag filled with rancid milk :D

  • Man, I bet some of those memes were funny... wsh I could understand them =/

Also, does anybody else think there were some enemies absent from the game? But notice how they're still changed in the credits? Like Porcu-puffer

  • Porcupuffer was used waaayyyyy in world 1.

  • When you were doing it save-stateless...

    Good times...

  • Well it was also when the game didn't want to kill you and everything you stood for

  • True...VIPs do have a big difficulty curve.

  • Teh air was from airman

  • Poor Raocow had no idea what was falling on him in that battle :)

  • play vip 5!

  • Hey raocow, can you speak japanese?

  • I know it sucked some of the fun out of it near the end, but in my opinion because the lack of save stating early and levels taking up a whole video, it really gave this LP the epic feel you were going for in the first place. It feels like you've been doing VIP 4 for a year.

    Congrats.

  • I can't believe it's finally over.

I wish I knew what all the wacky 2chan references were, and yet I probably don't.

  • I'm sure that most of the references wouldn't make much sense anyways.

  • Does anyone know if this was released before or after Carol's cheep demo? Beacuse this boss reminds me a lot of that demo's unfinished Koopa Kid fusion boss...

  • Vip4 was released before the Cheep Demo. This was probably made not only for Vip4 but also to work up to bigger fusion bosses, etc.
