David, it's pronounced Betil-shooz or Beetil-shooz, not Betal-jews. Also, astronomers know the distances of the stars within Orion. But remember Orion doesn't actually exist, it's just based on the perspective of the order of the stars we see. From a different perspective it could just as easily look like a large church and they'd call it "Cathedral" and the stars would still exist oblivious of what we name it.
