I had this in my car on cassette, with 8 mind- blower speakers running, people back then had 4 watt music players in their cars. Mindblowers had 35 watt amps built into the 6 by 9 and no one ever heard anything like it at the time. I played "My life is on the line" and " New age music" and people got out of my car thinking they had a religious experience. PT actually BLEW peoples minds back then.....HAMMERHEADS!
It's a shame PT got back into the basic blues just like Gary Moore did, fed up with the speed/tech invasion with guys making it a sports race. Play it like you feel it!
I, like several others, was in high school when this came out. it takes me back to one of my greatest memories. My boyfriend had a Celica hatchback and we would go parking in some deserted place, pop the hatch, lay on a blanket and listen to Pat Travers. I remember looking at the stars like it was yesterday. Maybe a few cold ones, maybe a little "sumthin sumthin"...didn't matter, it was the best! OMG! - I'm OLD!
One of my favorite Pat Travers tunes that no one has ever heard of. Searing guitar solos all throughout with the perfect amount of effects mixed in. Out-fucking standing to be listening to this shit on New Years Day 2011! Can I get a Hell yeah?
I got this on vinyl when I was 11 and played until the grooves wore out while meditating in my room. This among several others.Hey can you post "I Don't Wanna Be Awake"?That would rule!
Packed up my sh*t and moved from Jacksonville to San Diego in my little Honda Civic...but the U-Haul thing I put on the roof forced me to retract my radio antennae...hence, no music!...I had a little squeak-box cassette player with 10 tapes to my name to get across country...I bought this cassette about mid way for more variety...oh yea...good times!...the patterns of our lives, eh???
Thanks for posting this song. Haven't heard anything from this project in 35 years!!!!! Use to have the ALBUM!! Saw them open for Foghat in Memphis on their Crash n Burn tour. On their Radioactive tour (which I missed) Pat and Rainbow did a duel headline tour. A friend of mine went and said it was great!! I hate I missed it but he's still out there doing his thing. AND STILL "GOT IT."
@sizzlehalt I saw both tours! They were both great although the Crash and Burn tour was the ultimate as far as I'm concerned and King Bisquit (now @ Wolfgangs Vault) has it in their archives although they haven't taken the time to break it out yet (I had heard it on the radio right after the show)...but the AC/DC show is there (the Towson Md. one from '79)...they were the headliner on that one...what a show it was...Tommy Aldridge, Pat Thrall...it was amazing...not to mention Bon Scott!!!
Still sounds great! Well-produced record, but I'd love to know what happened between Crash & Burn and this record to cause Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge to leave...
E G O . he "has" a BIG one from what I hear. Contractual obligations might have something to do with it too. I"m a Travers, and he wouldn't even take the time out to meet me in Pittsburgh. PT came back 2 years later and friends I know opened for him and said he was an egotistical wanker. Now he sales him self online for $260 an hour for a half hour "Meet PT" direct session. That is interesting, What are your thoughts?
@Travs64 The first time I met him he came into the club my band was playing (1989) and he was a drunken turn asshole. 4 years later he sobered up and I was doing stage monitors at a gig he played at. A complete 180, he has very humble and friendly. Thanked me for the monitor mix etccc.. He's ok in my book. I believe in redemption.
Thanks so much for posting this !!! I havent heard this great Travers song for 20 years and always wondered when i would find it again. Thanks again for taking me back to my High School years again.
Pat Traver is very under rated. This is a song that came out when I was in high school and is still sexually viably, progressive, technically difficult and in the realms of genius, Rock has never sounded so good, from thirty years ago. Sweeter than the Sweet I Rock Music
amen brother! Tremendously underrated that's for sure ... he's still out there crushing audiences day after day with his special brand of heavy rock blues.... do check him out live if you get the chance ... he does not disappoint.
@rockthekasbox I was a junior in high school when then tune came out. East Peoria Community High School, Class of 1982. This song was all over WWCT 106.FM back in the day. Nothing like jamming to this with a cooler full of Old Style or Busch(or Coors when we could get them- they didn't even sell Coors this side of the Mississippi until 1985).
Oh Yesssssssssssssss I love this song , I like alot :) .
