  • This is a MUST SEE video???

  • @Phonehed considering the NCDOT engine is owned by NCRR its rare to see it past raleigh

  • @howardkevinm LOL! I'd say you guys need some REAL excitement in your lives!

  • @Phonehed no one said u had to like it.

  • @howardkevinm My point was that the title is very misleading and I'm sure that's the only way it could possibly have drawn 15,000 + views after 3 years. I would think that even for train buffs, this is anything BUT a must see video!

  • why "MUST SEE!" -who said I must see ?

  • what happend did dat engine run of gas

  • @MrCburger no, 1755 had run north as rescue power, and they were returning it to NCDOT

  • You probably wanted to go in at 1:05 ;)

  • train 79 is always running late i railfan in spencer some times and he is always so late

  • ok, idea, the ncdot loco haules 79 back FOR Amtrak, so the engine gets moved, and amtrak has one less train to run, more genesis' in nc, or did they need the amtrak in dc too?

  • Hello! After you uncouple the F59 just park it in the CSX yard! Don't leave it there!

  • i had 42 on the sunset limted in the summer of 2005 lol

  • Yeah train porn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know why they did not put 1755 on the point then it could have just droped and went over to CSX yard

  • yeah i thought the same thing when i saw it. would have saved them at least 15 minutes

  • Comment removed

  • and they wouldn't lose power to the other cars

  • @redsoxfan423 It is probably because NCDOT F59PHI does not have cab signals for the NEC. I asked a CSX engineer friend of mind. He says all engines head north passed Richmond, VA must have cab signals.

  • @nimrod4017

Just a guess, but perhaps 1755 was initially pulling the train, with 42 added at some later point. Two things may have prevented a switch before now - scheduling or a choice based on this being 1755's destination.

  • Nice catch.

  • wow! watha great catch!

    5 * and favorite

  • That sound like a CSX or NS K5.

  • nice make more videos

  • nice!

  • thats was nice!! first time i ever saw a switch in action b4 wow

  • Sweet vid man its not often ya get to see amtk units switch

  • thanks, do you know when they are going to start running the F40's on the Piedmont?

  • so does the F59PHI come through the center of USA REGUALY(YOU KNOW IN SERVICE) cose i only seen them in california

  • unfortunatly I do not thing that will ever happen. Cooler still is if they reconditioned a E unit but I think I have a better shot at hitting the lottery then that happening. the coolist would be if they ran it with a steam locomotive monthly but that has no chance in happening

  • @redsoxfan423 2012 or 2013

  • was it late when it came to raleigh?

  • yes by almost an hour

  • that was cool

  • Wow, I have heard of this incident, but I never saw a video for it! Thank you!

  • my pleasure :)

I just wish I had got him leading on 80

  • are those tracks not used much because they look really grassy! or they just need a weed sprayer.

  • they're aren't that many trains, but NCDOT has funneled money into upgrading the line so it probably just needs a weed sprayer :)

  • Haven't been down there in a while

  • truly amazing! i thought it was a capital corridor until i saw North carolina

  • lol

  • Does, Norfolk Southern running in there?

And great video and 5 rating!!!!!

    * Add favorite!

  • thanks, and yes to your question

  • Welcome, and its cool I would love see to Norfolk Southern running there and connect with Amtrak! ^^

  • When 80's P42DC died, why couldn't they just use NS power like a Catfish instead of NCDOT 1755 redsoxfan423?

  • I never thought of that...no idea

  • NS Units do not have the proper train control to run up the former RF&P between Richmond VA and Washington DC.

  • The former PRR system is different than the RF&P system?

  • Yes they do. There's an NS line that is in Richmond and heads to Washington DC.

  • Cool!

  • thanks

  • Wow that was a quick responce!!! No prob! :D

  • lol, I was looking at other videos on here when I saw that I had a new comment :)

  • LOL!

  • Is the f59 from the peidimont

  • yeah...

  • So NC 1755 got to go on a little road trip.

  • yeah, getting that duck horn out of NC :)

  • lol

  • Hey it's P-42 #42! great catch on this video! 5*****

  • thanks, what's the significance of 42?

  • Ahh nothin, just making a slight joke, P-42 number '42'...

  • oh wow, I didn't even see that, I'm so tired :)

  • Yeah i heard 1755 was gonna be on there a friend of mine told me imagine that thing going thru Weldon NC

  • yeah, that would have been a sight to see...

  • awesome video!

  • thanks

  • Awesome!!!!

  • thanks

  • nice video

  • thanks

  • hey good job i got a question to ask you

  • thanks, what was it?

  • have you ever heard of a thing called a traingif

  • yeah

  • have you ever made one before

  • Is there a reason they had to put the engine in the worst possible spot? Why couldn't they put it in the back of the train or make it a lead engine? That's much better than making yourself 30 minutes late ON PURPOSE! Seriously.

  • I think they had to tack it on 2nd because it didn't have cab signals for the RF&P. But then that makes me wonder what they did at Richmond when it pulled 80. I'm not sure why they had to take 1755 through Boylan before 79 could leave, that probably would have saved them about 10 minutes.

  • I still don't see why you couldn't just put it on the back.

  • yeah...

  • Amtrak more than likely set it up as a second unit providing motive power as opposed to just hauling it dead in the consist.

  • that makes sense, since the unit was running when it pulled into the station

  • Why not make it the lead engine then? If it really did pull 80 to Washington, why couldn't it pull this train back?

  • That's something I can't answer. Perhaps because of the risk that it may get into a grade crossing accident on the way back south, when an Amtrak P42 could have been the lead unit instead. Just a theory.

  • That doesn't make any sense as that could happen with any train at any time. Oh well, who knows Amtrak's reasons for doing it. I just hope there was a good reason for it.

  • My point was if there was in fact a grade crossing collision where damage was done, it would be better as far as Amtrak is concerned to have one of their P42s be the one damaged, instead of another agency's locomotive, in this case NCDOT.

  • Why couldn't it run as a pushing loco in the back?

  • NCDOT's locos probably can't be controlled remotely. If Amtrak wanted to run this unit on the rear, it would more than likely require a separate crew.
