I don't mind the guitar section at all - if nothing else, it makes the bit afterwards seem even more incredible. I really wish all the voices were removed, though. And, my god, do I wish the Visit Scotland advert version would be recorded in full and released to public.
The music is great, the guitar adds to it, but almost completely kills the mood by being out of touch with the rest of the song. This song would also be better if there were no people talking over the track.
I love the guitar part as it reminds me when I went to Wales; where I did zip-wire, rock climbing and the andrealin rush that came with it; moving fast; like if you were doing white water rafting :)
This is one of my favorite versions of this music, and the pic aint horrid, its shows strength and power which is something ive personally always related to the Scottish people so much. Hmmmm a nice compliment to the Scottish people from an English woman i think. xxx
@denholm10 But it would make it more scottish, at least for "Visit Scotland". Not only that, is unfortunately I am not a fan of the part with the guitar part, I dunno...I can appreciate it, but i dont like it personally.
I am a MASSIVE rock and metal fan, but seriously the rock part in this, what the hell? It sounds really out of place next to the really beautiful music. It would be perfect as a classical piece of music;=).
@xIMAGINARYxANGELx is it some kind of drum machine or something? sounds more like it should be in like "trance" or something (not familiar with dance genres but you probably get what i mean) - But aye really out of place, otherwise a great song
Really like this music and surprisingly I like the actual voice over from the advert too "feel it, touch it..." etc... goes really well. Disappointed that Paul come in half way through with his friends and gatecrashes the place with his hard rock music... Not sure really that does anything other than lets me know the song is nearly over so I can hit the rewind button! Cheers for the upload Edwards3Carrots.
Top stuff. Some people decry the guitar part, but it is an effective timbral and dynamic counterpoint to the arco strings. I think all textures are valid across all genres and eras of music- I like experimentation. Vivaldi should have played a Minimoog, and Mozart could have stormed Youtube with a Yamaha CS-80! The late Sir Adrian Boult conducting the LPO whilst accompanying on a pair of DJ decks, a metal dustbin and a petrol-driven angle grinder would be a Channel 4 special if I had my way!
It's probably just me but everytime i see that advert it really makes me want to go and visit scotland simply because of this song(the violin extract that is anyway)
i so wanna find a clean version of this, someone should maybe turn it into a classical piece would sound soooo much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this song is very very emotional .it makes me to reflect on alot of things and to fly without wings...i swear it down dont need to came from scotland to appreciate it...i like the sensation it gives xxx
the most beautiful song I have ever heared , and im not really into classical as im just a teen who also listens to the usual one hit wonder garbage thats out now.
Come on guys, Paul mounsey is an absolute musical genious. Regardless if you like the guitar or not, this song is a wor of art. I was once told by a teacher that art isnt wat you see or hear, its about the ideas it give you in your mind and the reactions rather than the work itself. And even in this case all aspects of this song got a reaction whether they were good or bad made you think, thus it has forfilled the purpose of an amazing peice of art. Also I like the guitar in the track.
@639653263626 Erm what? All pieces of 'art' will give a reaction. Be it plain boredom to un interest to joy etc. Using any of our senses to view art will result in a reaction. I think reaction is the wrong word to use.
I dunno, upon the fifth hearing, the guitar bit isn't quite so jarring...the song would be better without it i agree, but it's not so bad. I also thought the picture was quite pretty haha :D
forwared to Quinten Tarantino, hope you dont mind, hope he pays attention,,,for the remake of Othello as Othella...your music so fits...sublime and divine and yewow :-)
Wow....I appreciate a wide spectrum of "metal" and guitar music, but the guitaring in this song gets so close to spoiling the entire song, what a mood killer :-/
@donriko666 i agree, i think putting electric guitar in is a good idea and can be very moving but i don't think he implemented it very well, just completely missed the mark
Lovely song but the rock completely destroys the beautiful image put into my head...

Is the distorted guitar part, part of the original composition? Or added by a listener?
Andro1 6 months ago
@Andro1 it was in the original, people mix it out, which in my opinion ruins it. he didnt write it to have parts of it removed
639653263626 5 months ago
@639653263626 he would have had to give permission for its use, which means he consented to having it altered
