  • HOLY SHIT DOBKERATOPS CAN TALK RRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN HAHAHA lol just kidding.

  • Dear lord, the music!!! Love it.

  • The hell?! This is better than the original! Music sounds better.

  • @PoIaris Original musics from original arcade are so better!

  • Over the last 20 years all they have done is rehashed the same game over and over. All of the sequels look just like this game and this is the first time I am seeing this. Crazy!

  • I much prefer the HuCard soundtrack.

  • I actually like the cut scenes. I heard they were stupid. But the sound track completely blows.

  • Man this game is so tough. They might as well give you one continue to finish the whole game because once you lose, it's almost impossible to get back into the game cause you lose all your power-ups, specifically the bits because those can only be found in levels 1, 4 and 7. So pretty much, you HAVE to beat the game all in one go, and on one life and it IS possible. I did it... almost... got to the last boss and died there... can't get past that guy. I beat this game once, and never again.

  • i wish the music was better, hell even the turbografx chip version sounded beter, but i love the great intro!!!

  • Damn. Damn, damn, damn!

    Why am I angry?

Because the CD version of R-type is not on Virtual Console, just the catridge version.

  • Seems to be a decent port. Can't say I agree with the instrument choices for the music though. Every other port sound alot better than this one.

  • That spaceship in the anding looks like a vibrator..

  • yes i've got that on 360 mate what i meant was a totaly new game in the r.type universe that would be great

  • Without the cutscenes theres like 10 mins of gameplay?

  • Turbo Grafx a.k.a PC Engine was one of the most underrated console ever. With decent coding skills it had potential to rival the Sega Genesis and SNES.

  • @Chaniyth It's primary problem was, what with the lack of easy hardware graphical tricks, you had to hand code some of the more visually impressive stuff, and not all game programmers had the skills or time to properly utilize the hardware.

  • @Chaniyth

And were compatible with the portable system, no need for separate game carts.

    Problem was lack of advertising.

  • @Chaniyth: In Japan, it did rival them. They had no support in the US in the UK.

  • If a brave soul could write English captions for the cutscenes, that would be swank.

  • that opening cutscene is like 2 HOURS! its a flying shooter, how much exposition do you need, seriously?!?!?!

but I can totally understand, they made a big thing of this on the PCEngine version of Castlevania Rondo of Blood, it was sort of painting the difference with SNES and Sega Megadrive that the Turbo Grafx 16/ PC Engine could handle these animated cutscenes and employ clear sounding voices. So they were basically making a statement, "LOOK AT US! " kind of thing. ANyway, Great graphics :)

  • cubex55 (and his friends) the best ! I have cartridge version (first part only) the music from CD version is better

    beautifull I must admit

  • R.type classic game wish theyed bring it back on ps3 or 360

  • @brettscotland They did. R-Type: Dimensions.

  • Awesome! Backstory in my R-Type. Needs translation though.

  • classic shit brings back memories

  • hmm i never seen this version before.

  • Blast off to adventure in the amazing year 400 billion!
