Kessen II looks appealing, but it's too fictional. Kessen III has really lived up to its fame as the gameplay is too addictive. If I didn't had school, I would play Kessen III for the entire day.

Well that's you. III got the Famitsu Gold Award. It's a lot better than II or I. Sima Yi shined the most after Cao Cao's death. Since Cao Cao remains alive till the end, he's not emphasized. And don't you think the Japanese would like Himiko, since she was their Queen?

I wouldnt buy Kessen 1 or 3.I only bought 2 because of the setting.Mei Shannang and Kimiko werent real.They should of replaced Himiko with Sima Yi coz he didnt have a big part.

Kessen III is a prequel to Kessen I. If you wanted to find out what happened with some of the characters in the future. But the gameplay is all strategy. You don't take control of army units. You just issue commands, attacks, and map strategies. Story still rocks though.

Both of you speak the truth. However, a work of art does not have to be historically accurate. I still think the world that they painted in Kessen II is a lot more exciting, even if it's not accurate. If it had been, it would have been all the better. And yes, the control scheme is not nearly as awesome as in III. I recommend getting both still. :) But consider their points.

I definately recommend Kessen III over II. Aside from the story, the game play was kind of difficult. My friend liked it anyways though. Though it was an attempted fiction of what would have happened if Guan Yu didn't kill Dian Chan, it still destroyed the very virtuos image of Liu Bei. So yeah, get Kessen 3. Nobunaga rocks :)

Its more fictional than that. The relationship between Cao Cao and Liu Bei is different, some characters are now girls (Xun Yu being a good example), characters have different relationships (Ma Chao and Ma Dai are brothers, Zhang Fei killed Xiahou Yuan, Liu Bei wants Diao Chan) and, of course, some characters were just plain made up. Kessen II is more like, "What if there were no Lu Bu and there was all sorts of magic in the world?"

I totally recommend it. But I recommend Kessen III even more.
