the first car was powered by hemp ethanol. this is no achievement. it was outlawed because Dupont and William Randalf Hearst were big into the paper industry and wanted it gone because it would have cost them millions if everyone switched over to hemp, so they spread propoganda about it in their newspapers, demonizing it and actually causing it to be outlawed. @IFlick I'm assuming you're one of those people who believes the law is just in its decisions just because it's the law. Not too long ago, it was illegal for a black man to sit in the front seat of a bus. Would you be defending that? And Texas is on the border of Mexico. It's a hot-spot for illegal trafficking of drugs much more potent, and including, marijuana. For this reason, their tolerance level tends to be very low. They don't want to be the ones responsible for letting people through.
why don't they grow hemp in afganistan so we can use the fuel here? this way they would at least stop fighting long enough to have a viable product to sell. it would also limit those poppy plants which turn into heroine. unless i'm getting my facts completely wrong.
Your right hemp can produce around 27 thousand products, anywhere from food to explosives,so hemp would replace most (if not all) things we have in this world today..This plant is a BIG threat to all companies so that's one big reason why it's illegal....
Such an inefficient system. You'd have to have a huge number of plants to produce enough seeds to fuel it. Seeing as the hemp plant has an unusually high level of cellulose, they'd be better off converting that into alcohols with a biochamber, and use that instead. You'd get hundreds of times more mileage from it.
While hemp and marijuana come from the same genus (cannabis) hemp does not contain the psychoactive chemicals found in marijuana. (Sorta like the difference between a housecat and a tiger...they are both felines, but are VERY different...)
You could light an entire field of hemp on fire and stand there breathing as heavy as you want and all you'll end up with is a headache...you CANNOT GET HIGH FROM HEMP!!!
Henry Ford dreamed that someday automobiles would be grown from the soil. The Ford motor company, after years of research produced an automobile with a plastic body. Its tough body used a mixture of 70% cellulose fibres from Hemp. The plastic withstood blows 10 times as great as steel could without denting! Its weight was also 2/3 that of a regular car, producing better economy.
Approximately 6% of the agricultural land area of the contiguous United States would produce more Cannabis Biomass than is required to supply all current demand for gasoline, diesel, and oil in the US
4/5 of things being done on this planet are dependent on some kind of OIL product. The reason cannabis/hemp was made illegal and is kept illegal even with overwhelming proof of its SAFE RELAXING HERB to continue the profiteering of the very few!
Book- Cannabis: The Facts, Human Rights And The Law
henry ford's car was made out of 100% hemp, and ran on hemp oil. It was bought out and destroyed by rockerfeller and associates. Cars like these will never be produced because they will eliminate the fossil fuel industry. They run clean, no smog check, no oil change. And for many more miles per gallon. It is a shame that hemp is illegal in America. BMW and Mercedes Benz use hemp fibers in the interior plastics of their cars because it is up to 14 times stronger than steel.
Abolish the Federal Reserve Corporation and mandate the Treasury to issue usury-free currency such as United States Notes and renewable energy credits (US RECs) directly to individual citizens. Watch "The Money Masters" and investigate Operation 911. Transform the warfare "economy" to the solar economy. (Open Secrets)
there massive hemp fields down road from me looks like real weed and smells good to but you cant smoke it lol.about 6 square miles of it. start running me car on that shit lol
r you by any chance in south yorks?? Yorkshire hemp make some really yummy stuff...oil, tasty salt n pepper roasted seed snacks YUMEEEE..
Herein lies the whole reason cannabis is illegal-it can replace pretty much every harmful but profitable product and activity... think what crack dealers do when someone sells better cheaper crack on their turf and youll know why the herb is a threat
Hemp is an extremely fast growing crop, producing more fiber yield per acre than any other source. Hemp can produce 250% more fiber than cotton and 600% more fiber than flax using the same amount of land. The amount of land needed for obtaining equal yields of fiber place hemp at an advantage over other fibers.
West Virginia would be a perfect candidate for massive hemp farms. We have tons of acreage that is left over after the coal companies blast the hell out of our mountains and level them. What else are they gonna use em for? Hemp is a Renewable and Viable source of energy that could very well run this country.
My point exactly. If only those North Carolina fucks can keep their loudmouths down. There is no need to talk out loud in a small town. In the big city, it's a different story. At times, big cities are quieter than putrid North Carolina.
Truth is I think that this government has failed us. I can no longer just stand by and obey the laws of fools and theives!!! If I have to be a criminal then so be it!!!!I can no longer allow a dirty gov to control my actions. I will put my family before the laws of the corrupt leaders. Only a fool jump in the fire or put him family in harms way to fatten the bank books of our leaders. All my life I was proud to be an american. Now I feel ashamed, and kinda used, maybe even foolish.
Because the illegality of it makes the government sooooo much more money. The government makes criminals out of good people who wouldnt hurt anyone. They have the ability to stomp onto your residence and steal all you own. Our own government did a study that proved we could get alllllll the paper we use in this country from hemp, instead we import over 80%. Oil companies wouldnt be too happy to lose money and they will lobby congress aka BRIBE to make sure it doesnt happen. Time will tell.
I think it is mostly the petro chemical industry would be hard hit by a healthy competition, and thats oil, power, etc. Well that is one reason, but it boils down to political manipulation for profits at the expense of something that would solve a LOT of our problems, but problems seems to be the America's newest economy booster and export. A fuckin sad state of affairs.
To me it shows that the idea that we have a 'free market' economy in America is a lie. We have a corporate fascist economy. Corporations are basically dictators.
Not Soy, soy is not good for food... its not some dangerous side effects. Don't worry though, hemp can do everything that soy can do and much much more.
I did a persuasive speech a couple years ago to a thousand people who opposed hemp legalization 98%. After learning the true reason Hemp is illegal(FEDERAL COURTS FOUND THAT MERIJUANA CAN BE PLANTED IN HEMP FEILDS AND THEY LOOK SIMULAR AND HEMP SOLVES ALL OUR PROBLEMS AS CONSUMERS) I made a very good argument backed up by research from 800+ Resources from around the world. I had a powerpoint presentation, short film narrated by me and a speech. One Hour Convinced 98% against to 2 % against.
actually there are more reasons hemp is illegal (due to the petroleum industry, logging, and the "reefer" scare of the thirties)
but marijuana is hemp, or hemp is marijuana. They're really the same plant, but different varieties (hemp is bred for low THC content but high fibre, but marijuana is bred for low fibre high THC content)
I'd also like to hear about your speech, it sounds very interesting! =D
Your correct about children but your wronig about overdosing. If you ingested 40 lbs of high grade marijuana you would die. Too much of anything will kill you. Its just imposible to eat forty pounds without getting full ya know?
well, yeah, you can overdose on anything, but it is really just isn't physically probable that one could ingest that amount and overdose on marijuana, that's what I was trying to say.
to overdose while smoking is also really not a feat one could achieve (i forget the numbers but it's pretty improbable)
the only "overdose" I know of is when someone ingests too much hashish and gets sick, which is like your body saying "you took too much!"
MERCEN144. You couldnt be further from the truth... You CANNOT overdose and DIE from Marijuana PERIOD. You cant even overdose yourself without extremely refining the product, an overdose of marijuana consists of a strong sleep or mild coma that the subject always wakes up. It is unobtainable by conventional means, like smoking or eating. Can you eat 40lbs?NO! It also has MANY medical uses. Marijuana's truths are shrouded by Lies that make people money. Inform yourself before speaking.
if you can give me a couple days i should be back in Philly from Miami and i will look on my harddrive for all the resources if you are interested in some good reads.
If we converted 11 percent of our farmland to hemp biofuels we could power all the electricity and fuel needs of the USA and Canada! 1/4 acre of hemp grown in miami 4 times a year produces enough paper as 1200 acres of 300 year old rainforest. It will never be used becausee it would shut down paper, lumber, fuel, petrochemical, tobacco and textile industries. Hemp is our Future!
HEMP is NOT marijuana and cannot get you high...if you followed this car around huffing it's exhaust, you would end up with one heck of a headache but would NOT get high.
Its true than any plant or animal can be used to make oil. However you miss the point its not about the aroma of the exhaust. The Hemp plant is natures richest source of cellulose fiber. Making it the most useful plant for the purpose of Ethanol production.
not trying to bash the hemp oil, but any plant or animal oil can be used to make bio diesel. I just would rather my car smell like french fries then weed :P
Look at corn, it actually takes more energy to make biodiesel from corn, then it produces! per gallon, it is cheaper, but the miles you get from it is lower.
Using food to make our alt fuels also will make our food prices to raise!
But hey, government only cares about money, and who has that power now? The people lobbying for biodiesel from corn.
I was mostly taking about waste food oil from the restaurant industry. Waste chicken fat to used frying oils can be used to make biodesiel and it's more green then just growing plants strictly for fuel production. Though if we could make a good oil and fiber hemp that may be better. Bio fuels make more sense and are more "green" when you can make them out of waste products.
If you took ALL the waste products (Making the assumption every household keeps their waste too, doubtfull, but a mind excersize)
How much of this waste would this cover, for JUST using it in our vehicles? I am guessing 25%(yes a figure pulled out of my ass.. but I am thinking that, maybe more, maybe less)..
Well Bio fuel won't replace gas and diesel completely. In colder climates we still have to mix bio diesel with normal diesel. But taking all the veg oil from fast food and waste animal fats we can reduce the amount of waste we create, it's more efficient uses of are resources. bio fuels are great, but they can take up the space we use to grow are own foods to which is not so good.
Any diesel engine can run on biodiesel. But older diesels will need updated fuel lines. Bidiesel can eat natural rubber. I run on soy biodiesel, no hemp where I live.
Individuals that are anti-hemp/marijuana are closed minded people who just want to be told what to believe and don't want to investigate anything for it's authenticity. Like lambs following the sheep herder.
Even if it remained illegal for "recreational" use, hemp could save the world. But instead the government permit poisons such as alcohol to be legal.
luckily you're the next generation, and it seems we all want change. your dad probably is just looking out for you though, so I wouldn't look down on him too much.
It is 100% safe to take thru food. Hemp has very low THC content, kinda like a poppy seed begal has opium content...If you extract THC from marijuana using butter you can cook it into many foods. You can also use hemp seed oil to extract it. It is as safe as eating a tomato or orange. Actually safer. If you ate raw cannibis you would have to eat 40 lbs of it within a couple hours to overdose. Which is physically imposible...your stomach would explode first...You can eat more pot than drink water
marijuana is pretty safe to ingest, but just to be safe I would not advise children to ingest it. To say that it makes people retarded or whatever, is ridiculous. smoking is it's biggest downfall, but ingestion via food is really safe.
on overdosing, there is really no physical way to overdose on THC, it's impossible to ingest that much with smoking or eating, you're right. you'd just explode first!
hemp seed has little to no THC and is very delicious and healthy. =D

We could legalize the cultivation of industrial hemp WITHOUT legalizing marijuana.
(For example, Canada requires inspections of industrial hemp fields to ensure that there are no marijuana plants hidden and that no plant contains more than 0.03%THC...see youtube v=5k0GGWGTFII )
HOWEVER if you legalize marijuana, there would be NO reason to outlaw hemp.
And MANY,seem to believe that hemp legalization will lead to legalization of marijuana, the very thought that the stoners may use it as a talking point scares them(Yes, ignorant, but still true)
Hemp has been legal in Canada for over 10yrs. If the argument of hemp could be used to get marijuana legal, it would have happened by now.
Sure stoners might try to use it as a talking point, but let's stick to fact: hemp is an industrial plant that CANNOT get a person high.
While it is true that legalizing marijuana would lead to legalization of hemp (since hemp is illegal due to fear of marijuana), the legalization of hemp does not (on it's own) lead to the legalization of marijuana.
This is going on a side discussion here... But I think "recreational, and spiritual/religious" are subcategories of "enjoyment"
And It actually, as a secularist, irks me a little bit when I hear "spiritual" native americans can get away with using peyote, but me a atheist white guy, would get into trouble...
However, as a freedom lover, they SHOULD be able to use it, but so should I..
I agree that recreational and spiritual/religious uses could both fall under a larger category "enjoyment"...but wouldn't you agree that it is different to do something as part of a religious/spiritual cermony than to do the same thing every day sitting on your couch?
No matter what that thing is, I feel that it is diffferent to do something as part of a ceremony than to do something as part of your every day life...and therefore should be discussed as seperate (but sometimes related) topics.
By "spiritual/religious" I did NOT mean "native americans should be able to use it for spiritual/religuious reasons but no one else can" ...I meant that it should be discussed whether or not ANYONE is allowed to use it for spiritual/religious reasons, and if so under what circumstances.
I do not believe that race/ethnicity should enter the equation of whether or not someone is allowed to participate in a religious/spiritual ceremony, no matter what the cermony...
Hence the reason that I said that it should be discussed IF people are allowed to use it for religious/spiritual purposes AND "if so under what circumstances."
Through discussion people may decide it is NOT useful for religious reasons at all, they may decide that it may only be used in a once-in-a--lifetime ceremony, or people may come to some other conclusion....but all ideas should be welcome, discussed, and should only discarded once the discussion has explored all topics/subtopics...
Pretty Sweet Ride! Would love to see more of those rolling around the world. Go Hemp!! Go Pot!! [As the guns are drawn..] Not without war will this ever become reality. Shame really..
If Jesus used Hemp. Then its illegal to outlaw it under the 1st amendment. violates freedom of religion. No law shall be made that imperges on the constatution from any state or local law enforcement. Any law is void. Constatution is Hemp, and the Decleration of Independance.
Why jesus? Don't some native american religions use marijuana?
Also for the FEDS to illegal it is unconstitional.. look up the 9th amendment. It clearly says(paraphrasing), that if the constitution does not allow the US to do something, it is up to the state. Atm, it is a federal crime to smoke pot,
BUT i am sure if you took ANY drug that grew back thousands of years ago.. You will have at least one religion that used it...
Hell.. under such logic..
Couldn't I start a new "Religion" And claim crack is a sacred chemical?
one should not say "It is for relgious means therefore it should be legal" Because it also says in the first amendment, "Congress Shall not respect an establishment of religion"...and that would clearly be doing so.
So if tommorow the government decided to make peyote legal for religious purposes..
The side of me that believes that drugs should be legalized. Would think it is a good idea, baby steps towards the full legalization..
However, the side of me that believes government should not respect religion. Would think..BS.. why is this group of people permited to do something that would get me locked up?!
The quote you mangled was supposed to be: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." (First Ammendment)
The "respecting an establishment of religion" part meants that Congress does not have a right to decide whether or not people are allowed to practice _faith, NOT granting the government permission to undermine the intent of our Constitution, which is echoed in the Declaration of Independence.
The TENTH ammendment states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people," which clearly places the power to regulate marijuana (and other drugs) into the hands of all 50 states (We the People and our elected representatives) as individual states, and grants no power for a DEA without a proper Constitutional ammendment.
Since all hemp is illegal because certain strains of hemp seed grow marijuana, perhaps we should outlaw corn because certain strains of that are used to brew illegal bootleg whiskey
Although I commend those pushing Hemp for fuel the one thing that holds it back is the potheads. Until these groups become more "professional" it is doomed. Politicians and your average Joes/Janes don't know the difference between Marijuana and Hemp. If you can have an event promoting the various uses of hemp and condone people smoking pot at these events then maybe we can get somewhere on the Hemp movement.
it is the USDEA who holds the production of cannabis and actually the pot smoking hippies are some of the few americans who know the repressed benefits of hemp .. as well as the history..
just as the crime associated with cannabis is related to prohibition.. so is the repression of its infinite potential due to your facist, failure of a govrenment.
I have this image in my head:(made up story of course)
A scientist discovers that a gallon of hemp is a tenth of the price of gasoline. a tenth of the pollution, mpg is twice as much. And he, talks about in a science magazine.. that's it.
Several stoners catch wind of this article- they get pumped, make videos and brochures, stand out in the rain near busy highways holding signs. Talk about it to friends and relatives.
Yeah, I did when I was filming this - smells like roasted hempnut. On video, Kellie makes a good point: As biodiesel has no sulfer, there is no sulfer dioxide produced - no acid rain!
Al Gore is a major shareholder in Occidental Petroleum and he also owns a company set up to make money on carbon credits. He'll never help with this, he's part of the problem not the solution.
When will the voting public realize that oil barons will never do what's right for America? Hemp is erroneously connected to marijuana, though the hemp plant and the marijuana plant are two different species. (You can't get high from hemp). This misconception prevents the huge benefits that hemp could provide. Some experts estimate that industrial hemp has upwards of 25,000 uses. Time for a wake-up call, people: It's not about getting high, it's about getting smart.
i heard that comparing normal cannabis to industrial (THC reduced) cannabis : industrial cannabis/hemp produces less flowers, therefore less seeds, therefore less oil, therefore less biodiesel.
Sometimes harvested early for soft fiber applications, industrial hemp seed harvests can be bountiful. Most is used for food due to high EFA levels, but surely we will soon see hemp biodiesel out of Canada. Also, hemp for biomass and ethanol has great potential, being much easier on the land and water than corn.
industrial hemp is a cannabis strain from which you cant get high...and its genetically manipulated to reach that low thc level...but hemp should be legalized anyways
...we should all examin the impact that has on our economy.
Imagine what our economy would be like if we were able to grow our own industrial hemp for seeds, fuel, clothing, etc... (this would reduce the cost of hemp products because importing is always more expensive than growing a crop locally...and if we grew enough of it, it could even become a reliable export)...
Imagine what industrial hemp could do for our economy!!!
Many people believe (and probably rightfully so) That hemp farmers will be able to hide marijuana in their fields of hemp..
My response: So you would rather continue to prosecute, and make pot more expensive for stoners. Then have alternative energy? I question YOUR morality.
Actually there are ways to prevent farmers from hiding marijuana amongst hemp plants-inspections and an alert staff/public.
In Canada, hemp fields are inspected to ensure that no plants contains more than 0.03% THC (please see youtube v=5k0GGWGTFII ).
Also, a marijuana plant requires a lot of attention in order to fully develop...workers and/or the public would likely notice if someone was caring for a marijuana plant (keeping the plant from becoming male, providing perfect conditions...)...
In general, however, I think that you present a clear moral choice:
People can choose to continue to be fearful of hemp because they are afraid of marijuana or they can accept the fact that there are people who use marijuana but it has nothing to do with whether or not hemp is a useful crop.
We could allow for industrial hemp without legalising marijuana, though I think that all forms of cannabis should be a state issue-not federal (as the Constitution-tenth amendment- states)...

Time to call before you light up.
We have all heard of 420 the time of day or year when all the smokers light up.
Let's make 410 each day and year the time to call or write your congressman and senators and flood the switch boards with calls to legalize pot.
Please pass this on and help support this cause the 410 / 420 call before you light up cause
( Please be respectful when you call, try to act refined and intelligent. )

The reason cannabis/hemp was made illegal and is kept illegal even with overwhelming proof of its SAFE RELAXING HERB to continue the profiteering of the very few!

henry ford's car was made out of 100% hemp, and ran on hemp oil.

There is a HUGE difference between hemp and marijuana.
Hemp is grown for it's fiber, oils, and other industrial uses and does not contain enough THC to get a person high.
Marijuana, on the other hand includes THC and a variety of other mind/body altering chemicals that may be used for recreational or medicinal purposes.
Both hemp and marijuana come from the same genus, cannabis which is banned in the US.
13 states legalized medical marijuana use, but industrial hemp remains banned.

One Hour Convinced 98% against to 2 % against.

zappos49 3 years ago
actually there are more reasons hemp is illegal (due to the petroleum industry, logging, and the "reefer" scare of the thirties)
but marijuana is hemp, or hemp is marijuana.

Its just imposible to eat forty pounds without getting full ya know?
mercen144 3 years ago
well, yeah, you can overdose on anything, but it is really just isn't physically probable that one could ingest that amount and overdose on marijuana, that's what I was trying to say.
to overdose while smoking is also really not a feat one could achieve (i forget the numbers but it's pretty improbable)
the only "overdose" I know of is when someone ingests too much hashish and gets sick, which is like your body saying "you took too much!"
vpew 3 years ago

Its true than any plant or animal can be used to make oil. However you miss the point its not about the aroma of the exhaust. The Hemp plant is natures richest source of cellulose fiber. Making it the most useful plant for the purpose of Ethanol production.

still ethanol production creates lots of co2 and isn't as effective as we'd hoped I think.

not trying to bash the hemp oil, but any plant or animal oil can be used to make bio diesel. I just would rather my car smell like french fries then weed :P
sixyears 3 years ago
Yes any oil can be used to make biodiesel..
HOWEVER.. many are not as effective as hemp..
Look at corn, it actually takes more energy to make biodiesel from corn, then it produces! per gallon, it is cheaper, but the miles you get from it is lower.
Using food to make our alt fuels also will make our food prices to raise!
But hey, government only cares about money, and who has that power now? The people lobbying for biodiesel from corn.
thefakeyeti 3 years ago 4
I was mostly taking about waste food oil from the restaurant industry. Waste chicken fat to used frying oils can be used to make biodesiel and it's more green then just growing plants strictly for fuel production. Though if we could make a good oil and fiber hemp that may be better. Bio fuels make more sense and are more "green" when you can make them out of waste products.
sixyears 3 years ago
Oh alright..
Just curious though..
We would need something else to fall back on
thefakeyeti 3 years ago
Well Bio fuel won't replace gas and diesel completely. In colder climates we still have to mix bio diesel with normal diesel. But taking all the veg oil from fast food and waste animal fats we can reduce the amount of waste we create, it's more efficient uses of are resources. bio fuels are great, but they can take up the space we use to grow are own foods to which is not so good.
sixyears 3 years ago
i stick my face on that exhaust and get high..jk u cant get high off seed...can u put that oil in any car or just that car??
CODmusk 4 years ago 2
Any diesel engine can run on biodiesel. But older diesels will need updated fuel lines. Bidiesel can eat natural rubber. I run on soy biodiesel, no hemp where I live.
JDGwhynot 3 years ago
Individuals that are anti-hemp/marijuana are closed minded people who just want to be told what to believe and don't want to investigate anything for it's authenticity. Like lambs following the sheep herder.
Even if it remained illegal for "recreational" use, hemp could save the world. But instead the government permit poisons such as alcohol to be legal.
geohiker0175 4 years ago 5
You know what is really sad.. I had a conversation with my dad on hemp ethanol..
And he had said that if this lead to legalization of marijuana. He would rather not have this as a alt fuel source..
So basically he would rather pay 6 dollars at the pump, and continue to have cops arrest pot heads..
Then pay 2 dollars (that may be a under estimate) and leave potheads alone.
It's sad when the basic attitude is enforcing morality, over assuring that the economy and environment is stabe
thefakeyeti 4 years ago 3

Ya.. I have thought that before..
That possibly, he really is for marijuana legalization..
But if he expressed that view he may think it would send me "mixed signals"
Though if/when I have kids I would wan't to be truthfull..
Tell them I would rather them not do marijuana, and if they do, they should wait until their brains are fully developed
I probably failed at that, started at 18. And I don't think the brain fully develops by then. But thats better then some friends!
thefakeyeti 3 years ago
true,
I think marijuana should only be available to consenting mature adults (like 18 or 21 as starting age) because it can be damaging to young brains.

Which is physically imposible...your stomach would explode first...You can eat more pot than drink water
mercen144 3 years ago
marijuana is pretty safe to ingest, but just to be safe I would not advise children to ingest it.
props to knowledge!

Remember that hemp and marijuana are different.
RenoRevolutionAdmin 2 years ago
Yes...
HOWEVER if you legalize marijuana, there would be NO reason to outlaw hemp.
And MANY,seem to believe that hemp legalization will lead to legalization of marijuana, the very thought that the stoners may use it as a talking point scares them(Yes, ignorant, but still true)
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Hemp has been legal in Canada for over 10yrs. If the argument of hemp could be used to get marijuana legal, it would have happened by now.
Sure stoners might try to use it as a talking point, but let's stick to fact: hemp is an industrial plant that CANNOT get a person high.
While it is true that legalizing marijuana would lead to legalization of hemp (since hemp is illegal due to fear of marijuana), the legalization of hemp does not (on it's own) lead to the legalization of marijuana.
RenoRevolutionAdmin 2 years ago
In order for debates to stay focused on fact, it is best to break cannabis into two sections: hemp and marijuana.
Hemp is different from marijuana (it CANNOT get a person high) and should be discussed solely as an industrial resource.
Marijuana debate should be broken into two categories:
1) Safety
2) Use (which breaks into 3 sub-categories: medical, recreational, and spiritual/religious)
ArtGoddess8 2 years ago
This is going on a side discussion here... But I think "recreational, and spiritual/religious" are subcategories of "enjoyment"
And It actually, as a secularist, irks me a little bit when I hear "spiritual" native americans can get away with using peyote, but me a atheist white guy, would get into trouble...
However, as a freedom lover, they SHOULD be able to use it, but so should I..
I guess, that's what you call bittersweet..
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
I agree that recreational and spiritual/religious uses could both fall under a larger category "enjoyment"...but wouldn't you agree that it is different to do something as part of a religious/spiritual cermony than to do the same thing every day sitting on your couch?
No matter what that thing is, I feel that it is diffferent to do something as part of a ceremony than to do something as part of your every day life...and therefore should be discussed as seperate (but sometimes related) topics.
ArtGoddess8 2 years ago
By "spiritual/religious" I did NOT mean "native americans should be able to use it for spiritual/religuious reasons but no one else can" ...I meant that it should be discussed whether or not ANYONE is allowed to use it for spiritual/religious reasons, and if so under what circumstances.
I do not believe that race/ethnicity should enter the equation of whether or not someone is allowed to participate in a religious/spiritual ceremony, no matter what the cermony...
ArtGoddess8 2 years ago 2
Most people who prey probably do it in the same spot everyday. By their bed or whatever.
DaveIrie 2 years ago
Hence the reason that I said that it should be discussed IF people are allowed to use it for religious/spiritual purposes AND "if so under what circumstances."
Through discussion people may decide it is NOT useful for religious reasons at all, they may decide that it may only be used in a once-in-a--lifetime ceremony, or people may come to some other conclusion....but all ideas should be welcome, discussed, and should only discarded once the discussion has explored all topics/subtopics...

Why jesus? Don't some native american religions use marijuana?
Also for the FEDS to illegal it is unconstitional.. look up the 9th amendment. It clearly says(paraphrasing), that if the constitution does not allow the US to do something, it is up to the state. Atm, it is a federal crime to smoke pot,
thefakeyeti 4 years ago
I'm sure some Native American religious groups use marijuana but I believe you're thinking of peyote.
And yes, totally agree, the prohibition of marijuana is unconstitutional. At least with alcohol they had the decency to amend the Constitution.
blacklabelsk8erX 4 years ago
Peyote also..
BUT i am sure if you took ANY drug that grew back thousands of years ago.. You will have at least one religion that used it...
Hell.. under such logic..
Couldn't I start a new "Religion" And claim crack is a sacred chemical?
one should not say "It is for relgious means therefore it should be legal" Because it also says in the first amendment, "Congress Shall not respect an establishment of religion"...and that would clearly be doing so.
thefakeyeti 4 years ago
So if tommorow the government decided to make peyote legal for religious purposes..

If you can have an event promoting the various uses of hemp and condone people smoking pot at these events then maybe we can get somewhere on the Hemp movement.
ryebread74 4 years ago 2

When will the voting public realize that oil barons will never do what's right for America? Hemp is erroneously connected to marijuana, though the hemp plant and the marijuana plant are two different species. (You can't get high from hemp). This misconception prevents the huge benefits that hemp could provide. Some experts estimate that industrial hemp has upwards of 25,000 uses. Time for a wake-up call, people: It's not about getting high, it's about getting smart.

i heard that comparing normal cannabis to industrial (THC reduced) cannabis : industrial cannabis/hemp produces less flowers, therefore less seeds, therefore less oil, therefore less biodiesel.
roidroid 4 years ago
Sometimes harvested early for soft fiber applications, industrial hemp seed harvests can be bountiful. Most is used for food due to high EFA levels, but surely we will soon see hemp biodiesel out of Canada. Also, hemp for biomass and ethanol has great potential, being much easier on the land and water than corn.

hemp IS legal. You just cant grow it. It can be imported however

...we should all examin the impact that has on our economy.
*crop to export
*reduce fuel costs
*free from fossil-fuel dependence
