Ay Dios mío... el problema con el ruso es que es muy poco fonético, a diferencia del griego cuyos símbolos suenan según su sonido, en ruso es muy variado, y hasta me he mordido la lengua...
Blossom of apple and pear Floated mists over the river. Сome ashore Katyusha, On the high bank on the steep. She was walking, singing a song About steppe, dove-colored eagle, Of the one she loved, Of the one whose letters she was keeping. Oh, you, song, song of a maiden Head for the bright sun. And the soldier on faraway border From Katyusha bring a greeting. Let him remember an ordinary girl, Let him hear how she sings, Let him preserve the Motherland, And love Katyusha will keep strong.
Very interesting conversations here. I am so open to learn Russian. Born in Los Angeles to Russian parents...we were inclined to speak English only, although my parents spoke fluent Russian. Those were the times when Russians were rediculed., Therefore, the lack of the language (But it's in my soul!)
I've heard this song in Spanish many years ago, because it was sung during the fight defending the Republic in Spain. In the 40ties. Later it was sung in Cuba in the 60ties. Love it
could a russian write at least the song in english perhaps how it is pronounced? like in the beginning, something like this: rastvitali yadoni negrushi
I wrote in Russian on purpose, because while you are listening to the sounds you can see how the letters are pronounced and you learn the Russian alphabet!
However, I do not have space here, look at "more info" and you'll find the translitteration
I think b4rn1k4 was looking for a karaoke version of the transliteration. A lot of English speakers like Russian music, but most cannot read the Cyrillic alphabet. It isn't easy to find adult ed/night classes in Russian, either. Most English speakers will never get the chance to learn Russian unless they use a self-teach method, which are usually geared towards travellers, rather than actual literacy.
The problem is that knowing the Cyrillic alphabet doesn't exactly equate to correct pronunciation, which is a bit harder.
I learned Elder Futhark runic (for writing, not divination) in that amount of time. It was easy, but not everyone takes to language-learning. Others might say one could learn geometry in like 2 hours, but I know I'd struggle with that, whereas an alphabet or a historic timeline would be very simple.
For a native English speaker, it can be very difficult because some of the physical parts of the phonetics and some letter combinations are very difficult for English-speakers, since they don't exist in English.
Irish springs to mind, where bó (rhymes with low) means cow, and an bhó (pronounced an whoa) means the cow.
Not everone is a language person, though. You seem to be. I am. User X may not be.
I agree that English speakers will have problems, especially because of Х, which doesn't exist in English. Also, ого endings. And for a foreigner the differences between Г in Russian and Belarussian.
However, that doesn't change my opinion that this video is intended for Russians/Russian speakers, or at least people who can read Cyrillic. In the latin alphabet, I become confused because of all the different ways you can transcribe. For example, is it ja, ya, or ia?
The answer to that depends on the native language for which the transliteration was written. If it's English, it could be anything, unfortunately. Even the name of the song is transliterated "Katiusha," "Katyusha," and "Katjusha." As a musician who has played a lot of both Irish (Gaeilge) and Russian songs, I would like to be able to pronounce them so I could sing them as well, but Cyrillic should be easy after Irish pronunciation rules, but, like I said, I take to language. Some don't.
@user2812 Thank you very match, i am from Bosnia and Herzegovina and we in school learn Russian and we had to learn this song, i never know how to pronounce the world but now i know
@user2812 Spasiba, muchas gracias por la transliteracion y la interpretacion al ingles, aunque yo la preferiria en español. Thanks for the transliteration and interpretation even when I would like to have it in Spanish. Thanks a lot
@user2812 on the other hand, I'd like to thank you for that, for the reason, that IF you do know the alphabet, you'll notice that you can only read russian corrextly if it's wrtitten in cyrillic. I'm hungarian, so some of your letter are easier for me since we have thoose at home. But you can't really write thoose phonetically.
BTW: You can learn the alphabet in 2 days, you just need to write 10 lines of a word with eaxh letter (it will be 10 pages, but it worths it)
@b4rn1k4 Rastsvetali iabloni i grushi, Poplyli tumany nad rekoj. Vykhodila na bereg Katyusha, Na vysokij bereg na krutoj. Vykhodila, pesniu zavodila Pro stepnogo, sizogo orla Pro togo, kotorogo liubila, Pro togo, chi pisma beregla. Oj ty, pesnia, pesenka devichia, Ty leti za iasnym solntsem vsled I bojtsu na dalnem pograniche Ot Katyushi peredaj privet.
@b4rn1k4 The transliterated version is on Wikipedia.
That being said, this is one of the first Russian songs I learned before I knew the language. If you don't know how to read in Cyrillic, this is one of the best songs to learn with!
@b4rn1k4 Ok :) I am Russian, so I'll try to help you. Here it is: Rastvitali yabloni i grushi poplyli tumany nad rekoy(2x) vyhodila na bereg katusha na vysokiy bereg na krutoy.Vyhodila pesnyu zavodila pro stepnogo sizogo orla(2x) pro togo kotorogo lyubila pro togo ch'i pis'ma beregla.
Rasvitali iablani i grushy, paplyli tumani nad rikoï / vy’adili na biric Katiusha, na vysokyï biric na krutoï. – Vy’adila pisniu zavadila /pro stipnova sizava orla / Pro tavo katorava liubila/
Tendras razon pero en espanol las letras no se pronuncian como en inglés (la "e" por ejemplo), intenté escribir algo que corresponde a la escritura espanola
@b4rn1k4 2nd part: Oy ty pesnya pesenka devichya ty leti za yasnym solncem vsled(2x) i boycu na dal'nem pogranich'e ot Katushi pereday privet.Pust' on vspomnit devushku prostuyu pust' uslyshit kak ona poyot(2x) pust' on zemlyu berezhot rodnuyu a lyubov' Katusha sberezhot.
@b4rn1k4 The problem is, if you do not know the letters, you will never get the sounds right . I'm Polish, but I have learnt Russian for 10 years. IMHO the sounds are so different you will never get the right English pronounciation. Either you lrarn the letters (the bukvas) or you are lost.
Katyusha Apple trees and pear trees were a-flower River mists were rising all around Young Katyusha went strolling by the hour Up the steep banks and o'er the rocky ground By the river's bank she sang a love song To her hero in a distant land To the one for whom she loved for so long Holding tightly his letters in her hand Let him know that I've been true and faithful Let him hear the message that I send Tell him as he defends our home that grateful, True, Katyusha, our love will defend
Beatifull song. I really like Russia . Its very strong and beautifull.
Oh I am from Slovakia by the way. The center of Europe if you dont know.

True, but honestly russian pronunciation is easy compared to some languages like Chinese or Mongolian which are not written AT ALL like they sound.
