  • i don't know what these people are bitchin' about.. dude, ignore these trolls. i thought you were amazing! :] \m/

  • Exelente!!! suena muy bien!!

  • The kick does sound slightly off in places but I think it sounds pretty damn good as kicks go. Just imo.

  • Come on, the trigger sounds amazing, stop hating. Amazing video, dude!

  • Overall decent job, but the bass drum just shakes it up too much at times. Especially at times your kick is behind your hands.

  • Great cover dude. I'm gonna have to agree with some people saying the singer isn't the best, but hey, still an awesome tribute.

  • Shakey in certain parts but fuckin awesome cover. If u lot ever do a gig in london plz plz plz let me kno :)

  • good!

  • 6 people were born deaf and thought this was a mime video.

  • Awesome. Loved it.

  • be yourself don't try to be like Mike portnoy

  • @Junkefood1 This was a Tribute......

  • @Junkefood1 i don't see anything wrong of idolizing mike portnoy.. even great drummer has their own influences whom inspires them..

  • @aceyfab yes, but why try to copy mike's ascpect, he can be original

  • shut up with the hating. this song is hard as fuck to play at all!

well done man. you guys rock

  • That's so funny, that most of the 'experts' commenting this video are drum noobs, who don't have a fuckin idea what a trigger is. Great playing, dude.

  • Good video, kick the singer

  • Nicely done, I am 25yrs of DT amazement . That aside, I would not sweat the idea that you won't sound exactly like MP. My .02: Kick sounds fine - there is no issue with the sound quality and I listened on really high quality headphones. Your singer, well, this may not be his key or thing ;) Labrie takes a lot of sh*t for his singing and your singer is going too also. And, go ahead and stand up -- I've been spinning symbols/standing up since the eighties before MP was even on stage!!

  • you and your bassist should be in a better band bro. you did really well =) the only problem that i could hear (im also a drummer.) is the tempo problem which realy isnt a problem. but nice job mate =)

  • 0:35-0:45 wanna be mike portnoy

  • Don't know much about triggers or why the "house" does the crazy shit they do from time to time, but you've got skills brother!! Props for puttin' this up, great job!

  • the people complaining about the kick are WRONG, kick sounds great. and their opinions are wrong regardless of whether you think they are entitled to their opinion they are not in this case. they are just simply incorrect.

  • Dude xD is this a parody of dream theater

  • If you think about what these guys have accomplished, and who we are comparing them against, they did an excellent job.

  • This trigger sound is for goregrind! :P.Nice video but kick the dam singer out of the band.

  • im sorry but the kick sounds like shit, your singer sucks, and you were off a good bit with the bass drum hits. im not saying you did a bad job with it, its just that the triggers pick up every tiny little tab of reverb as a hit. so its not your fault. you did good but the singer, eww. atleast set it as a different setting for the trigger. and yes i did read the description.

  • @killu626 All good dude. The trigger was not my idea at all, that was what the house was using to amplify the kick instead of a mic. Also keep in mind, this was our first show so screws were bound to be lose with peoples performances including mine =)

  • @RJPass yeah man. im not giving you a hard time or nothing, i mean its a tough song to learn, but a kick ass one at that. i learned the whole song in like 3 hours of constant listening haha. and that was good for a first gig, you all will get alot better with time and experience. =)

  • Great job dude!

Too bad about the technical difficulties though

  • trigger sound

  • GREAT!!!!

  • I think this is a very nice performance, you play awesome.

Im sorry i dont know what triggered means, would you mind explain it to me?

Im also a drummer and i admire your feet work, that something i want to work in, any suggestions?

    Pretty nice man!

  • @DanFdoCC

Triggering. is giving acoustic drums an electric sound.. thats the easiest way to put it.

  • @DanFdoCC Use a metronome to start with, and just play some basic beats but just doing constant 16ths with your feet. Once you can do that smoothly, try it without the metronome.

Start slow until you can do it at that speed, then speed up by say 5bpm or something.

After, play around with some random patterns instead of constant 16ths. Now try some songs.

  • I think this is a very nice performance, you play awesome.

    Pretty nice man!

  • Great job!!! your singer sang the wrong words just before the 'dont' cross the crocked step' part though... oh well.

  • I like the kick sample, very wood based!

  • nice cover but the kick souns awful sorry, and only mp can stand up while playing drums sorry buddy xD

  • @Idranmurd

Apperantly you have issues with reading. Read the info. Says my kick is triggered. It also says it was not my idea as the venue did it. As far as MP being the only one to be able to stand and play, he is and i think i pulled it off pretty nicely. Also, it's a TRIBUTE not a cover. Learn the difference.

  • @RJPass Tribute or not, you're still covering it.. But anyway, good job on the song, especially singing as well. I've tried it, harder than it looks haha.

  • @Idranmurd WHAT?! He was GREAT, very very Mike, and lets not forget, what would Mike say? Come on... He'd be stoaked as usual as he seems to be about EVERYTHING, Stand up and play? HELL YEAH! And the kicks sound alot like Mike's old 24's on Images and Words, yeah I know triggered, but it's still DT, just Ol' school!

  • same shirt as Mike Portnoy lol NICE DRUMMING!!!

  • mamalon osea woooww jaja big drumer dud you rock

  • the bassist is pure shit man

  • hahahahaha nice xDD!

  • Pianist even has an Oasys haha those are mint keys

  • Man, He did a siiiiick job on this! =D Man, Props for this. This song sounds like hell on drums. @_@ I thought it was bad on bass.

  • Comment removed

  • Mmmm, I think that the singer sound a bit unprofesional... what a pity! the cover sounds great!

  • the best cover of DT that i`ve heared!!...

    great job!

  • your kick sound sooooo good!

  • You're an awesome drummer!!!!

  • 1:20, reminds me a little of meshuggahs bleed bassdrum riff ^^

  • awesome

  • yeah wiked

  • haha you stand up like MP too !

interesting that the house triggers the kick! that's really a call that should be made by the band... any good FOH engineer can get "click" out of a kick with a proper mic and compression.

    oh well, sounds good!

  • That was sickk.

  • Great job guys, best DT cover I've seen so far.

  • POWER!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm sorry , i just think that the legs are moving in diferent speed that the double bass i `m listening to

  • Could be heel-toe

  • I'm doing the heel toe technique on the bass drum. Also, if you had read the description prior to making unfounded comments you'd see that my bass drum was triggered, not by me but by the venue. That's why you hear it all clicky but my beaters are playing every single one of those hits. 2 with the right, 2 with the left.

  • me too.. no pffense though .. great job still

  • I think he's using one technique that beats 2 or 3 times each time you rise your leg, maybe that explains why you think that, hope it helped to you

  • Can you also tell me what "triggers" are?

;( I know its probably a stupid question.

  • I think he means the sound its bass made, but that's what I think, sure he could ask you better..

  • @RikkudoSennin

Triggering is where a sound is played digitally whenever there is a signal from either a microphone or trigger device attached to a given drum

So lets say you want a nice punchy kick sound, but dont have a decent microphone- you can use a bad microphone or trigger device and a pre recorded sound of a punchy kick drum, and set it up so that whenever you hit the kick, the nice punchy pre-recorded sound is played instead

    Hope that helps

  • Oh wow. that actually helps ALOT. ;O Thanks man, I appreciate that. =)

  • @RikkudoSennin

No worries, glad to help :)

  • i guess you are not playing the doubles bass speed parts,

  • Really nice drumming there, pal! Overall I can't hear much but sounds ok!

  • Awesome job guys. You all sound great to me! I'd love to see some higher quality shoots of the full band, but there's a nice bright future ahead to get that done!

  • woww it's powerrrrr!!!!

  • you guys got ALOT of potential

BUT, the drummer is the shit!!! future really good drummer =]

  • Killer Job!

    I love the triggered bass!

Looking forward to hearing more covers.
