I like this, Since my sisters watch TV all the time I have no time to play my wii, I can just carry it around AND discuss what like time I want to race my friends on mario kart wii!
I do like the Ideas the wiiU has. Especially with that controller, the tablet technology is sumthing thats really gonna help Nintendo with the U. Now if they can pull bk sum of their "Core" gamers, with the attraction of proper sophisticated games, then they'll be up at the top again. And dont try telling me Nintendo's core gamers never left lol, cus I was one of them, and I know many others who also stuck by Nintendo wen they made great games like Goldeneye64, PD, and Zelda64.
by looking at the size of the wii U chassis and the price range nintendo usually go for in the last few generations to appeal to a vast range of consumers, i think itll be around 3 times the power of the current xbox360 ,def no more ,it WILL use power 7 processor its confirmed but no one knows what model of them ,most likely a quad core with 2 threads per core since its the power 7 budget range but still good performance ,similiar to the power PC is on the xbox but with multiple core threading
@girlsdrinkfeck RAM most likely around no more than 2GB and prob be based on a ATI 4800 series or of similiar power to it anyway, overall the FLOPS would prob match that of a £800 desktop gaming PC back in 2008, obviouslty better opimised due to hardware/software config/optimise

Xbox and playstation fans shouldn't have anything to complain about cuz they are used to $300-$400 systems.but SHIT! 50% more powerful than a PS3??? i'd take a Nintendo system that had 50 percent LESS power but this Wii U is gonna be hella bomb...i'll be able to laugh at 360 owners because their Ghost Recon: Future Soldiers looks "crappy" compared to the Wii U's :DDDD sweet,sweet revenge!

@17jun1989 Upscaling DVD players are cheap as chips and can be bought for sweet-nothing almost anywhere, and by the time you count up dvd players, consoles, PCs, laptops, most people have at least 3 dvd players. The WiiU not having it means Nintendo doesnt have to pay royalties to the DVD consortium, therefore keeping the price of the console down.
How much do you want to bet the controllers are going to over $60 a piece? When you add a big touch screen, and camera the price can only go up. This may be the most expensive game system in a long time.

Plus its history as the company that returned interest to the audience about games back in 1983 backs the company. They also had something SEGA lacked, which was TIMING. SEGA would throw everything they've created and invented at you, confusing you as a customer. That was what defined SEGA's fate.

What I like about Nintendo is that they spit in the face of so-called "hardcore gamers". WE the people have a life outside of video games, though YES sometimes we STILL can play video games. We don't particularly mind if there's HD graphics or not, we just like to PLAY GAMES.

@3945TV Look, the Wii can be a console like the rest, it just doesn't appeal to everyone, when its main objective was doing so. I understand it's got a share of games that's quite popular, and that there are cult classics, but you can't overlook the excessive bunch of bollocks you can find in the console. All the games you mentioned are hits for the console and are at least decent games, but only that and a whole bunch more. It doesn't make up for what you pay for the Wii.

@Digijedi569 Well it depends. Good graphics, music, or voice acting ( mostly considered to be superficial aspects of a game ) can make or break a game. Of course, none of these things alone will ruin an experience, but they can, and often are the difference between a mediocre game and something that will stay with you forever. Bioshock, Shadow of the colossus, Cave story, and Braid are a few games the excel due to more than solid game-play, they all look and sound gorgeous.
@gamegloss i never said games with good graphics are always bad, but i have ran across games with good graphics that seemed like the devs only cared about the graphics instead of the actual gameplay. btw shadow of the Collossus FTW! its been a few years since i played that game lol

@thebuzzerding I never said advancements in technology was bad, I was saying it isnt everything. trust me, Metroid, Zelda, Smash Bros all look better with newer graphics, I would LOVE remakes of all the older games on the Wii U in HD graphics, but I play games for the storyline, but however the devs make the game (graphics wise) it doesnt affect it for me. But I do like HD graphics, dont get me wrong, but they are nothing without a good storyline in the game to back them up.
@thebuzzerding When it comes down to it, I am more of a Nintendo fan. I bought in to all the PS3 and Xbox 30 fads, and still went back to the Wii after selling my PS3... I couldnt get rid of my 360 because I invested WAY too much on that box and discs... that wont be wroth jack in like 5 years.... :'(
@Digijedi569 You don't seem to know much about Computer Graphics... your example is... a television??... A television doesn't affect the graphics of the game... it's the graphics engine. The lightning engine, shading engine, etc. Realistic shaders and lightning techniques such as radiosity for global illuminiation can make a game realistic and stunning.
I'd much prefer that over a cell-shaded pre-rendered Mario game.

Technically, a TV does affect the graphics of a game. If you use a new 50" 1080p HD flat screen TV, it'll look different graphically to a 'box' TV from the 1990's. The resolution of an image is graphical too, and resolution is partially down to the TV.

well it kinda matters to me because growing up I have never ever seen Nintendo used a name twice no Nintendo 2 No Gamecube 2 nothing it was original names for their original product but then they threw a curveball and kept the Wii name (which at first some including myself hate the name Wii because it just sounds ridiculous) and so hoping they change the name they kept the Wii name and slapped on U on it as if its a big difference and yes I watched E3 lol but still I was hoping for a new name.

Plus its history as the company that returned interest to the audience about games back in 1983 backs the company. They also had something SEGA lacked, which was TIMING. SEGA would throw everything they've created and invented at you, confusing you as a customer. That was what defined SEGA's fate.

For example, i don't like Pokemon games. But you have to admit that they are (were?) a huge worldwide success. So there is an audience for these games. People who like it.
Also I don't see why the Wii is not a "real console". It sure is real enough to me. I play such games as Mario Kart Wii, DKC4, Sports Resorts, E.Ocean2, lots of VC games...

I understand it's got a share of games that's quite popular, and that there are cult classics, but you can't overlook the excessive bunch of bollocks you can find in the console. All the games you mentioned are hits for the console and are at least decent games, but only that and a whole bunch more. It doesn't make up for what you pay for the Wii.

@Digijedi569 Well it depends. Good graphics, music, or voice acting ( mostly considered to be superficial aspects of a game ) can make or break a game. Of course, none of these things alone will ruin an experience, but they can, and often are the difference between a mediocre game and something that will stay with you forever. Bioshock, Shadow of the colossus, Cave story, and Braid are a few games the excel due to more than solid game-play, they all look and sound gorgeous.

@thebuzzerding I never said advancements in technology was bad, I was saying it isnt everything. trust me, Metroid, Zelda, Smash Bros all look better with newer graphics, I would LOVE remakes of all the older games on the Wii U in HD graphics, but I play games for the storyline, but however the devs make the game (graphics wise) it doesnt affect it for me. But I do like HD graphics, dont get me wrong, but they are nothing without a good storyline in the game to back them up.

@Digijedi569 You don't seem to know much about Computer Graphics... your example is... a television??... A television doesn't affect the graphics of the game... it's the graphics engine. The lightning engine, shading engine, etc. Realistic shaders and lightning techniques such as radiosity for global illuminiation can make a game realistic and stunning.
I'd much prefer that over a cell-shaded pre-rendered Mario game.

Technically, a TV does affect the graphics of a game. If you use a new 50" 1080p HD flat screen TV, it'll look different graphically to a 'box' TV from the 1990's. The resolution of an image is graphical too, and resolution is partially down to the TV.
