Kaoklai's guard was too low. At any level you'll get knocked out if you don't keep your hands up! Doesn't matter how strong or fast you are if your hands are low
It is indeed pathetic how many people consider fighters that have fought in k1 to be the best fighters in the world. I could name a dozen of dutch kickboxers that could kick about 80/90% of k1 fighters ass and they don't fight in k1 because they are dutch and there are already too many dutch fighters there and the japanese don't like us dominating everyone.
I'd much rather see Kaoklai win, I love to see him fighting and think he certainly has the potential to beat Spong. However his typical "reckless" mode where he goes offensive, but hardly has any guard proved faulty against a fighter like Spong, which is a shame. I'm not sure wether it has to do with underestimating or taunting his opponent or with his typical muay thai background, but I hope Kaoklai learns from this.
Kaoklai is a good fighter, but not the best, he's got an ok Muay Thai record, but if you noticed, he fights as if he's having fun and screwing around, that's why he loses, and also wins against the heavyweights

It is indeed pathetic how many people consider fighters that have fought in k1 to be the best fighters in the world. I could name a dozen of dutch kickboxers that could kick about 80/90% of k1 fighters ass and they don't fight in k1 because they are dutch and there are already too many dutch fighters there and the japanese don't like us dominating everyone.

I'd much rather see Kaoklai win, I love to see him fighting and think he certainly has the potential to beat Spong. However his typical "reckless" mode where he goes offensive, but hardly has any guard proved faulty against a fighter like Spong, which is a shame. I'm not sure wether it has to do with underestimating or taunting his opponent or with his typical muay thai background, but I hope Kaoklai learns from this.

and speed. But as much as I respect and admire
kaoklai consider that his biggest K1 wins were mostly
against much slower HW who simply couldn't catch him.
He struggled at the K1 max level and here against
an equally quick Spong and that's how he got caught.
When you fight someone who is just as good a striker
BUT just as fast your chances of getting hit are

Buakaw won the 2004 K1 world max using mainly his legs and knees...If u ever watched his interview his says that because of the clinch rules brought (against him)outta da blue by the k1 commitee because he was destroying his opponent with knees, and because people were doubting his hands skills, he got into western boxing....Man u are so ignorant it hurts.

He came stupid running into Spong thinking he could easily deliver a simple lowkick back with some weird appearance movement but then he got a clean counter.In Thailand that move would have worked maybe. My opinion, I don't think he took this fight seriously...It would take a rematch to convince me fully.

Dude... if you really did look at a lot of his fights, Kaoklai has got his hands low almost all the time, or at least pretty damn low. He hasn't got a high guard because he's got incredible dodging skills and head movements and stuff.
