  • did you use Wind ? from (Space Warp - Forces) to obtain the waves ?

  • @MaRiuSeLz The waves (those that are everywhere) are generated by a plugin, I think. I used a plugin which simulated an infinite water surface(plane), and I remember it had this wave thing integrated with it. It was pretty cool cose that plane teselates based on the distance from the camera.

  • speed it up x4

  • WOW please post a video on how to do the enviroment

  • Its pretty good. Been playing with reactor a bit myself but not with water. Seems pretty good to me.

  • how long did that taked to render?

  • Sweet work!!

  • I'm trying to download this. Does anyone know where to findit?

    Nice water effects btw

  • @plasticfelinerodent there is a plugin for firefox called bitcomet video downloader. You can download videos from youtube and many others easily

  • @radsimu Umm I meant 3d studio max.......

  • @radsimu i think hes talking about the actual program 3d studio max reactor

  • hey cool its nice...............!! i know to use reactors in 3ds max..but if i render those file it'll not show d output which is showing preview animation.........!!

  • Hehe I thought he was a bit funny :p It's quite obvious it is 3d, and it looks great, but dave is a funny guy xD

  • That is very cool!! I am trying to learn about water as well! Did you learn from somewhere or do you have a tutorial I can use? I can only make a square plane in reactor which creates water, but its quite crap :P. Still, amazing syuff, I love 3S Max :)

  • @coolcon2000 that is the way to go. That is how I did. Just that my plane is "infinitely" big but the the simulation is made only locally using a space warps (i remember) then you need to adjust the resolution. That is all.

  • @DaveC86 Did you not see it said 3DS MAX that is a modelign software therefore this is 3d animation which yes is fake we all know its fake but it looks real

  • @DaveC86 no shit sherlock. what was the clue.

  • Orgasmcly beautiful

  • Hey actually to do a realistic water like his but better use Box , Reactor and Material Editor!

  • is 3d studio max not very expensive?

  • $3500.

    Nope, not expensive at all

  • 3500$!!! ur serious?

  • I am.

  • @pschodog3 haha funny one, just download it xD

  • @w1nGsEEEhTV

haha funny one, just reported you to the cyber police xD

  • @pschodog3 OU NOES xD

  • how did you make sky with clouds?

  • Very cool, but I noticed that there is a delay in the water before it dips down.

    Maybe adjust the physics?

  • yes, there is some delay. That happens when the collision (intersection) volume is very small. And this is the physics simulator fault.

  • how do you adf physics to the water

  • reactor?

  • a onda radial não faz muito sentido no movimento aplicado na bola, ela seria radial apenas se a bola tivesse sido largada na água...

mesmo se fosse radial, a onda não desaparece quando se encontra com outra onda, como acontece no centro da imagem!!

  • hopefully those are only good wishes :)

  • nic man

  • Amazing! Which version did you use?

  • this is 3d studio max 2008 I think

  • I'm impressed. Not sure about the movement of the water. The waves should be moving faster with breakwater if the movement of the ball is at that speed. If it isn't, then the wake water should have settled sooner. Love it though.

  • u should checkout the water shot tthey did in harry potter half blood prince - epic

  • its really good!! congrats!! im more interested on your background is it a HDRI?? did you used Vray sun?? mm.... i guess probably a sun light or daylight system perhaps, if youre using mental ray as you say.... if you answer me, i really appreciate!!! or some one else too!!

  • DREAMSCAPE I THINK

  • I used DreamScape to generate the sky which is a simple spherical background. For the sun I just used a Sun object. The indirect light is simulated with dreamscape. I actually used the scanline renderer for some reason I can't remember(I just checked). The surface of the water is a "sea surface" object which comes with the dreamscape plugin. It creates an adaptive triangularly shaped surface which deforms according to the position of the camera to make it look huge and to minimize the faces.

  • dreamscape and water reactor at the same time?

  • yes. A physics simulator has nothing to do with the renderer

  • GOOD :-D Check my 3ds max water reactor video

  • WOW

  • Your animation is very nice. However I think that 4 hours is a bit too high. Ive done also a reactor water animation test. It looked more realistic and I've renderen 100 frames within 5 minutes with a 1,8 GHz singlecore.

Tip: The water must move a bit faster.

Don't get me wrong, I totally like your animation! The environment and render quality seems to be really good!

    Good job & KUTGW!

  • Maybe your water didn't have a reflective and refractive material like this one. Because this is actually why it took so much

  • that was so cool! good job!

  • What was the renderer used and how long did it take?

  • about 4 hours 751 frames 640x480, 256 video RAM, dual core 3ghz, 1024 RAM. I think it was mental ray

  • nice

  • would you be so kind to share a tutorial for my class?

  • super awsome and i very liked the bending image of the ball in the water

  • That made me thirsty.

    Nice animation

  • How much time for simulate?

  • I remember that the simulation didn't take that long but the rendering did.

  • very nice!.

  • What version of the Havok engine are you using??

  • 3d Studio Max "Reactor" engine. no Havok

  • please make a tutorial :-)

  • wow really nice

    good job

    5/5:D

  • Thanks :)

  • so relistic! its good

  • SO REALISTIC!GJ MAN!

  • dreamscape plugin used here? nice work.

  • how u open it i got that and winzip how u open it?

  • Feels good man.

  • wow! Is this a 3dsmax plugin? Oo

  • If you have 3ds max you will see that reactor

is already in it just look for it (:

  • Great job

  • que bkn

  • ive been searching the net for a tutorial

that shows you how to make a cool background like this one and i didnt find one. can somebody help me?

    THNX

  • i can make you a tutorial i have a blog ill give you the link when its finished ok?

  • thats freakin awesome!! o.o that would kill our school computers though XD

  • Any video tutorials?

  • dude never works like this with me

    the object just dissapears

  • es la leche!

  • esta muy viscosa: bajale un toque *****

  • fantastic

  • nice..vezi nice... but the end is foolish

U can fix that and u will have a grat project

  • what do you mean? This is just supposed to show what can 3d studio max water reactor achieve.

  • Dude, it's way to jello-ish like.

  • do you know how you can make more realistic water in max? I treid several times and never got a better result like his... Maybe some tips here?

  • No I do not know how to use 3D Studio Max actually, but still it looks like jello. Nice job making it but still, it looks like yummy jello. :)

  • beautiful physics there dude :) I just made a 3DSMax animation. It's about the world ending. Check it out if you can: watch?v=DT-wfeYdXzc

  • very nice effects but the viscosity of water looks more than 1.5

  • its too jelly-like

  • Good work mate but, i don't like it so much, sorry, you've done a good work, but you need to put some simple particles, spheres with motionblur works fine, ball speed is "normal" but the ripples needs to be more faster, add a animated bump to the water too, and try to "dark" the ocean shader, when the ball is underwater in normal conditions we never see refractions like yours, the ocean looks like a pool, keep it learnin' man, you're on the good way, congratulations.

    Sorry my poor english...

  • That's amazing...

  • Thats awesome!

  • ome, wow.. that is like, amazing. there is no way it is 3d

  • do you have a tutorial you followed to make this?, im intrested in making an naval animation with the reacting water.

  • Take the free Blender Fluid Simulation! It bakes fast! looks great and is more accuarat than Realflow 4

  • how much time it took to render?

  • about 4 hours 751 frames 640x480, 256 video RAM, dual core 3ghz, 1024 RAM

  • dreamscape? max?where do i get it...is there a site to dwnload these?

  • yo dats jus too gud totally amazed ive also got autodesk 3ds 2009 but dnt kno at all ow 2 use it plz can some1 elp!!!!!!!!!

  • there are many fine tutorials for you to find on the net.

Currently I'm learning Organic Modeling. Just type in Eric Maslowski in google. It's the best tutorial(video!) on Organic modeling that I've been able to find. If someone else has got any good, tell me please :)

  • dreamscape is just for the rendering to look nice. It has nothing to do with the simulation of water. That is reactor water, yes. A search on G for "reactor water tutorial" would get you to a low res version of what you see here. You need to experience. If you want splashes you should look for "real flow". This only creates ripples.

  • i can make realistic water with dreamscape yet trying to figure out how to simulate the waves from wake or objects.

when u are using dreamscape and reactor.. do you use the Reactor water too or only dreamscape sea.

A tutorial for how to create a splash or waves by object would be awesome yet i havent seen any tutorial like that on youtube and google.

  • real good man, the ripples are moving really slow though, i don't know if you were going for that or not

  • well I first made the speed more natural and that made me curious how it would look if it would move slower and I liked this one better. And this is better for those wandering the accuracy of water reactor.

marceloiacovone, you shouldn't compare the two. For someone who just wants to achieve simple waves with fake splashes this is the fastest and easiest way to go with pretty good results. For a boat for example, this is great. Imagine how much would take rf just to settle a sea o particles.

  • Real Flow 4 is way better

    xD

  • Yeah, it's Dreamscape...inside 3ds max. Still cool, though.

  • dreamscape make real water

  • beautiful..

it's man's attempt at approximating reality.

  • ahh.. any good site where i can learn some about realflow?

  • hmm.. in some comment you said that you got realflow plugin. I got the realflow program for that if i wanted to make some running water ive seen in videoes before, still, is the program a plugin or what? pretty newb at 3D max >.>

  • Real Flow is a standalone software. The plugin (which comes with it) is for 3d Studio max to be able to import work done in Real Flow.

  • how long are you doing in 3ds max.i suppose you started half year ago

  • what do you mean?

  • its water-gel

  • is there like a tutoral any were to make something as gd as this :)

  • thank's man

  • Did you use dreamscape for the sky and sea?

  • yup, you got it :)

  • How do you save movies in 3ds max which has all the effects?

Cause when i make a preview of my movie, it doesnt adds the effects to it :(

  • a preview is not the quality you want. You must set the output in the rendering menu (F10). Check save file as and choose. Also make sure that you have a sequence if that is what you want.

  • hey i want to know how to make sphere animation like this is this going a path or what........?

  • Yes. It's a path. Make your line, make your sphere. With the sphere selected go in menu->animation->constraints->path and then click on the line. You can then control the percentage along path in the motion tab of the sphere.

  • wow, thats freakin great! im makin a movie and i need help with the water too. its a scene on the ocean, i already have the ship i just need to kno how to make the water. can u post a tut?

  • Hey man, I am working on a project and I am having a hard time nailing down the water. Could you help me out maybe?

  • wow.. this must have taken FOREVER to render.

simple concept though. well done. % starts for you :)

  • 5 stars, not % starts...

  • Thanks. It didn't take too long render actually. After all it is just a high res plane and a reflection.

  • Excellent!

  • you are pro!

  • How do you save animations in 3dsmax? AVI video please!

    Please help me :)

  • how do you set up the sea waves before the sphere come in ?

  • the sea waves are a surface deformer. the waves generated by the sphere are also a surface deformer(water reactor space warp) which will add it's deformation to the existing deformed surface.

  • VERY GOOD EXCELLENT!

  • VERY GOOD EXCELLENT!

  • Nice!!!, I always have trouble with Max when animating water with reactor.

  • use realflow :P

  • mmm, never heared of it, that's with the reactor or is it something apart?

  • something apart but SUPERREALISTICALLY water simulation

  • yes it is super realistic water simulation but it is not time efficient if you want to achieve just something like in the video. Realflow water is a particle simulator while this is just a surface deformer.

  • true... cant import it into max tho (dont know how) so I went to the other nice things that 3d software can only just (time) do: smoke and fire

  • As far as I know you can import into 3d Studio Max, maya cinema 4d and so on but I don't know how either. I have the realflow plugin for max if you are interested. I think it is for importing.

  • nah, too long calculation time and im too buzy with fumefx :P but thanks anyway!

  • Really nice, followed a tutorial ;)? If so, could you link me to it ^.^?

  • Didn't follow a tutorial. It is water reactor aplied to a dreamscape sea surface.

  • Great work!!! Well done...

  • thank you!
