gave 5 starts for the clouds not for the quality of the video. Kinda soft..i say to soft! missing sharpness.. slow light adjustment, colors kinda f--d up the sky is dark blue.. the good thing it's waterproof that is awwsome.. other than that not that great. My zi8 shoots much better
@shanejensen: Yes there is image stabilization, its was my first video, so I was playing with it ;) And yes it records in Stereo. The Mics are behinds the screen.
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I am torn between getting this model that you have and the VPC-WH1. The mic is BEHIND the screen? Doesn't that record audio from the wrong direction toward the persona operating the camera?
@shanejensen : No problem! I got this camera for Burning Man. I needed a camera that was sealed to keep out the dirt and dust! What I mean about the Mics is that they are on the Opposite side of the screen, so if your looking at the screen they are on the back side.
I thought the stills from the Sanyo was the worst feature. After working with your other cameras I can't imagine how you wouldn't be disappointed. At 9MP (claimed) it left a lot to be desired for me.
Yea, the stills were not as good as my Canon's. I do agree, but for what I am going to use it for it should be fine :) I do plan on having another camera with me and also my old Canon AE-1 Film Camera. I am going to try and get a Waterproof bag for my old PowerShot S3 IS, I don't want to really bring my good camera's with me when I go. I am also looking at few of the waterproof point-and-shoot cameras on the market right now like the Canon PowerShot D10, Olympus Stylus Tough 6010, etc...
Hey Chris ..I took mine back. There are FAR better cams for $300! A Zi6 is way better image wise and now go for around $100. In my opinion your only hpe of getting anything decent is with a tripod and VERY careful use of the controls. Check out my sailing videos (640 x 480).
I understand what you are saying. This was my very first recording with the camera & I've gotten a little better with it since then. My main reason for getting the camera was the fact that it was a sealed (waterproof) camera. I plan on taking it to "Burning Man" next year where there is a lot of dust/dirt being blown around. My only concern with the camera so far is that what I upload to YouTube does not look as clear as it does when I view it on my TV. I'm not sure what is causing that.
Im a sailboater so I bought it to take boating. I found the image quality lacking and the tight button layout a bit of a trial. What a shame! I loved the form factor and the build quality. I really wanted to like the camera but in the end had to return it. I'm a professional photographer so perhaps I'm more critical. I've opted to replace my Canon SX10is with the SX20is to get the HD video quality. It's outstanding! Check it out here on YouTube. Good luck with it. Use a tripod when you can.
I kind of agree the buttons are a little small side, but I just got the camera to take with me to Burning Man next year. Normally I don't shoot video, I normally shoot stills. I also use Canon, I have the Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi, PowerShot S3 IS, and the PowerShot SX10 IS. I've seen video from SX20 IS and it is Great, but you don't get as much video recording time as you do with the Sanyo or the Kodak you were telling me about earlier...
Fantastic video!!When you film the clouds they seem to be so close !!!

Ouch, that focus lag on the clouds killed it for me.

Is there an image stabilization on this? Also, is the audio stereo?

I can't decide between the CG10 or the CA9.. they seem to have pretty much the same features but the CA9 is waterproof.

Thats what Im trying to decide between. the Cg10 is 10 mp but this one is waterproof which will definitely come in handy!
