Hi Matt, at 6.34 you are wondering why he moves his queen to g5. It seems to me he does this because he wants to fork your bishop and knight. With the queen on h6, if he moves his pawn for the fork it doesn't work because you reply knight g4 hitting the queen...I played a similar line in the Vienna online recently and also got drubbed - I thought I had just overlooked that early queen check, didn't realise it was invented by Steinitz. Keep up the good work!
The Steinitz gambit is crazy stuff. Steinitz said "The aim of the gambit is to place the King in a position whence it can move to either flank" but Keres said 'This poor King not only occupies a bad position but also obstructs the path of his pieces.' Keres was right Steinitz was wrong. LOL I usually play 3. Bc4 aiming for a good KGD or sometimes the Igor Glek's Four Knights 4.g3 against 2 ... Nc6
Wow.. Crazy game. Some of your moves seem so counter-intuitive. I actually thought that your position seemed pretty decent right out of the opening. The problem that you kept on facing throughout that entire game seemed to be piece placement, which caused you to get way behind in time.
Problem was bad king security and wasted time taking the pawn on f4. Even though the bishop snatched up the pawn on f4, its brother on f7 would eventually take revenge
oh no!!! how can you lose to players <2000? =( you are like one of the best chess players that i know of on youtube! but i still love your videos, keep posting! =D
Why dont you played Nc3 instead of d4?

It's been a while, Shidinov! I think the point of 15...Qg5 is to make the threat of ...f4 real. Otherwise ...f4 without Qg5 allows White to play Ng4.
Not sure what you felt about 16.Ng2, while stifling White's own c1 Bishop, threatens to kick Black's Queen around with Bf4 or Bh4.
Despite the loss though, the opening play seems quite sharp. Nice.

soon as you started expanding on the queenside you got into trouble, should have artificially castled and expanded on king

My idea was to keep my king in the center and expand in the center, old-school style, but I should have played 8.Kd3, like I was thinking of doing.
All my troubles came because I took the pawn on f4, that is my initial feeling.

Interesting game. You seemed to have the better position out of the opening - not that i am familiar with it. Look forward to more.
