So I'm a first year art student (in painting), and I went to art school due to the stuff I've seen while out there, on DMT and Salvia.
When I have my first exposition, I want this EXACT type of LED light and Shpongle music to pulsate on my art. This is AMAZING, thanks for a great idea :)
Hey...What's that picture that comes up at 2:38 ? I remember seeing it on the net a long time ago...Some weird animation where the picture changes. Know where i could find it?
Greatest transdimentional artist I have ever seen. His ability to bring his visions so vividly into our 3rd dimensional realm is just mind blowing! What a gifts this man has brought to us all...Thank you Alex!!!
This has nothing to do with 'reflection', except in the reflection of different frequencies of light from the painting. What's happening is the different colors of light being cycled through are acting as filters for the different colors already existing in the painting. To put it simply: Looking at the paintings in certain different colors of light allows you to focus on certain colors of the painting. Like presenting it in layers, with each layer being a different color, showing the complexity
Alex Grey actually does most of his artwork on glass. I'm not sure how, but I read this article in a local paper where I live. It's almost always on glass, which I guess might explain the LED effects on the paintings. Reflections you know?
That is absolutely not true. Almost all of his paintings are on canvas, aside from the few on wood paneling. furthermore the ones in this video are in a book entitled "Transfigurations". So the glossy paper may more likely be the culprit of causing reflection.
I wonder why he chose painting, you would think with such a transcendent style of mission he would have been drawn to more enveloping disciplines since pictures on canvas can be quite static. Its still quite thought provoking though even though a painting by nature is only done after the fact (meaning mind trip).
That is the most stupid shit I ever heard "twistswitch",
Painting is the most transcendent practice I know of to exist. Do you have any "disciplines" you know of to be more worth while? you dip-shit; don't question the legitimacy of a painters role on this earth, we are more valuable than you would like to admit. PAINTERS MUST BE RESPECTED! Most of you don't know a thing about painting and if you did you would know there is nothing happing in this video.
Alex Grey worked his whole life as a painter. Try to rival his abilities or disregard the craft and it will only show your ignorance. "Pictures on canvas being quite static"?!!? what would you rather watch another movie? Dip-shit.
Its transparent paint. there is no paper you dip-shit, the only paper is the one that the image is printed on in the book. he paints on canvas and wood like many painters.
he was amazingly close with the black womans mind encirling the earth and creating it with her consciousness at 1:57 less than half way through this video this guy really is trying to wake up. good for him
wow this guy has some of the tightest drawings i have seen in my entire life hands down. i have definitley seen some of those patterns while channeling my vision with my eyes closed- does anyone know what im talking about? oh and i also see a distinct connection between Grey's drawings and human's "aura" and chakra centers. i post long comments.
I'm amazed that alex could so accurately bring these images back. They are like dreams. There are consistant patterns and colors within our minds. I'm so happy to be able to see these here. Great for meditation.
have you seen the interview "alex grey on ayahuasca" ?? maybe then you would understand from where inspiration comes from...this video is awesome...the changing colors ...the details...the energy body etc...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I find his work is repetitive and boring. He constructs a rhetoric of New Age illumination on drawings that are repetitions produced by a computer, not even related to the human being. It is like Alan Watts defined the life of the future humans: They will have replaced so much of the real organs through plastic, that they would really feel and act like plastic. Well... the work of Alex Grey is plastic, and it has no relation to human. He argues on it with mental suggestions. That's all.
that would be a neat experiment however the video you show use computer effects. the images i use are affected by actual light reflecting off of the images.
DMT is a substance found in many plants and animals. In fact most of them produce it. Dmt is also produced in the human pineal at birth, death and some say... during alien "abductions" or somethin`. :). We should all try it. At least once. Peace and love!
No words can describe how amazing his work is. Alex Grey is one of the most talented artists on Earth and this video is good demonstration of it. I nearly shit my pants when I look over his book Transfiguration on LSD trip. Everything was 3D like. His materialisation of undescribable experiences through art is simply amazing...
Interesting how this reminded me of my DMT trip! Very interesting, will look into Alex Grey more now! I bet he is huge into DMT, hard to get these visions if you haven't see the true reality yet! I think the music is "Shpongle" it was an experimental trance music, if you listen to the entire thing it will make you feel amazing, specially when I hear "Terence Meckenna" voice! I luved that man!

Red23791 2 years ago
He uses mostly acrylic paints on canvas...he is just very good!

Probably both. The paper probably had the consistency of cloth, and the paint was probably thin.
