I always thought his very first was Yngwie's best album. What ever became of Jeff Scott Soto? He was a much better vocalist than Joe Lynn Turner...whose vocal style didn't gel too well with Malmsteen's guitar.

I think "Marching Out" is a great album and Jeff Scott Soto did great on the vocals. This is my favorite Yngwie song aside from "Prelude To April". "I Am A Viking" is just atmospheric and everything comes together. The music, the vocals, everything on "Marching Out" meshed.

Yngwie Malmsteen was considered the fastest guitarist on the planet when he rose to stardom. Damned if I know who is faster since. He would have been a heavy metal god if he came out today. In the 70's his music was too intense to touch the general public so he never gained his due.

There no huge guitar scene that is "mainstream" (if you ask people who is guitar player X they wont know him unless they play guitar themselves). Since im only 18 years i cant tell how it was back in the 80s but i feel like back then the guitar scene was more popular to everybody (im sure everybody in the 80s knew van halen etc).
