There are plenty games that own world of warcraft... let's say eve online, if you wanna stick to science fiction. Still eve only as 350K customers... 30 times less than wow.

@dinoman1997 I highly doubt that ;) Burning Crusade was the biggest release ever on PC, and since then Blizzard did manage to gain a few more customers (they lost me though :D).

Not sporting for any team, I did play wow for long and I am a huge star wars fan (my video can tell I guess) expecting to go to orlando in les than a month to attend Celebration 5 :)

@TheDeathdemon21 I meant it was the quickest and biggest. WOW vanilla eventually was million sellers (there is no way burning crusade could be selling more cause you need the previous one to play...). But burning crusade did sell the most in little time.

While wow did need to gain some momentum to beat records.

I know WOW is the most popular game. Most popular doesn't mean it's the best though.

I disagree regarding Eve Online, sure it's elitist, but it really is a great game.

@startide the most popular means that the game is the best. When a devs make games, they dont do try to make it "good", they try to make it fun. That's the ultimate goal and sure, the difference between fun and good can be quite significant but in the end it's the "best" games that sell the most. In this case - Wow.

I don't it that big of a deal. At first I was a little uneasy with the Republic troopers' armor, but in KOTOR 2 they mention that Canderous aids the republic and his mandalorian warriors would later influence the republic's military. I had assumed it to be the clones. Also, the clone trooper armor is supposed to be influenced by the mandalorian armor. Well, why not the republic trooper armor be influenced by Canderous' mandalorians and the clones influenced by both?

It's clear they based a lot of looks on the OT so casual fans and new people don't get to confused when they see Star Wars and then nothing familiar but in-universe it's very likely that it was this very Sith Empire that inspired Palpatine (he used symbols that had terrified the Republic since forever).

Doing a MMO is a very different thing than handling a solo game. See how mytic fucked up WAR online although Dark age of camelot was awesome (or so I heard, never played DAOC)...

I have my doubts, will wait 'till release to figure it out. I ain't buying it blindly that's for sure.

@startide Well, I'll try the trial (like I did for WAR online, WOW, LotR Online) and then see. What's got me interested is that Bioware did promise a story and that you could play the game "single player" style so if the servers get flooded with annoying people I can at least get away from them. KotOR 2 was done by Obsidian not Bioware. In all honesty the only problem the game had was that it was rushed but that's lucasarts' fault (they probably also wanted the OT elements to be used in this).

See how the design is different in episode 1 compared to original trilogy ? then slowly moves to OT design in episodes 2 and 3 ?

How can this TOR game can feature such a design while it's supposed to happen several thousands of years ago ?

@startide since the game takes place before all the imperial era shit its simple. That design was the design of the sith empire at the time and when the imperium took over he based his designs off of the sith empire from SWTORs time. Lore wise it makes perfect sense

Although I do understand what you are saying, I still dont understand why the Technology in the Old Republic era matches or in fact Advances from the BBY and even the ABY eras, I know alot of people say the Emperor held back the Galaxies Technology after he took power but that still does not mean Ships, Weapons, and armor can match that of the ABY times.

However, I think showing group footage was a big deal. We hadn't seen anything about how grouping mechanics would work. To me, thats better than watching someone soloing a few mobs planetside for 5 minutes.

It showed that Consulars have healing capabilities, though at the end the Consular actually broke off from healing and attacked with the others; it showed the Trooper can absorb damage (not surprising); it showed crowd control by the Jedi, fighting the adds that showed up as opposed to all ganging up on the big monster, etc.

I can't imagine what it will play like live.

@boltthrower669 They showed nothign new. the only footage was the old alpha footage. 7 or so months to release, they should be showing or at least doing pre-testing of current gameplay like every other mmo/game developer. The fact that they are being so "secretive" over it does not bode well. Especially since theres nothign at all to suggest the game isnt still heavily instanced as it was 2 montsh ago in closed beta 1
