Have to say, Ive had two profound influences on my art, and Alan's book Phantasia remains one of the most important, certainly in the early years of my writing and illustration. (Patrick Woodroffe being the other).
I once emailed him and felt hugely privilaged to recieve a single email from him in reply. He is certainly a man of his time and influenced me in direction, though not in style....I'm way to singlular to try and do stuff like him. A great artist.
ditto to pleased to have found it. Went to college with a lot of Beatles Illustrated Lyrics illustrators. There's an illustrator here in Australia who does a great plagiaristic job of Allan Aldridges' work. Graham Beast. Bloody awful thing is he seems to be v. sucessful.

I had the priviledge of working with Alan about 18 years ago on a project. He is a terrific person.

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm a big fan of Aldridge's work and this was a very interesting interview.
