LOL! Throwing the bread... :-) *Hiss Huff huff* Yess.. yess, i see... they are just wondering about that strange thing that you are holding... what is it?? (IE, the Camera..)
iv had muskovies in the past loads of em a flock of at least 80 ,i had a tame drake as a pet as well, he lived in my cabin lol awesome pet. he was spoiled rotten he was adorable ... anyway fact is they dont fly if they dont have too!!! they are very smart creatures believe me. iv seen big domestic birds fly just fine if they really want too, they where as big as any iv ever seen... in fact id say they are quite graceful in flight they in most domestic circumstance just dont need to fly .
Muscovies can fly in the wild, but as they've been around people some have become "domesticated" and raised for meat, so they've been selected for size. Usually the larger males that are in captivity cannot fly due to selective breeding for weight; however, they readily fly in the wild. These muscovies could be from "domesticated" lineage or wild, either. Muscovies, wild and native to Mexico/S./Central Americas, are also not a variety, but a different species from the domestic mallard breeds.
If they don't start flying when they are young, when they get their fleight feathers, then they don't usually fly when they are adults. It usually depends on their mother, if the mother is a flyer, then she will usually teach them when they get those feathers, but, if the mother is not a flyer, they they will not usually learn to fly, making them more open to predators :(
