Looking back to PEP in 1985, I am glad to have memories of Coach Lenz's voice calling out to us so early in the morning.
"The key that we stress to the plebes is that we are even more concerned with their physical fitness 20 years from now than with their physical fitness now," Lenz said. "That's the goal. Fit for life." ~ Coach Lenz in LA Times, 1991

PEP without Heinz Lenz, and that wonderful heavy German accent, is not PEP at all.

Thanks for the comment. I had the pleasure to participate in PEP in 1985. Sad to hear Coach Lenz passed on in March 2006.

@usna87 You're so right. Heinz Lenz *was* PEP. We all had a love/hate relationship with PEP. We love Coach Lenz but "hated' PEP.
As we approached the PEP field you could hear his voicing booming over the speakers. "Good morning, 79! It's a fabulous morning!"
"Go hard, 79!"
Remember how he always had TWO versions of every exercise - one for the "Supers"?
