  • How does this compare to brands such as Mogami, Monster and Lava? I tried one of these Elixir cables today when picking up my mandolin. Compared to a cheaper cable it sounded way, way smooth. The difference in this video is like night and day, too - which surprises me.

    Excellent demo!

  • I love that guitar... Does anybody know if its a custom shop, if so... who's?

  • @benbrown4544 That's a US Strat, circa 2001. Not a custom shop guitar, but very very nice!

  • Haha, i thought there was a problem in my guitar or in my soundcard. And then i see this! It was a damn cable who made the sound muddy and without treble!

  • From now on I need another guitar for clean things, because I don't want that brightness to come in my vintage style drive sound : D

  • Just wish the cost could be a bit cheaper....

  • Do they come with a lifetime warranty like planet waves cables?

  • @vainparasite The product is warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner! Any questions/trouble, give us a call at 800.367.5533.

  • I can't believe what a con this video is. Yes it's true that the EQ and Gain and set-up etc. is the same, and I'm not saying that elixir cables aren't better, they proably are a bit for audiophiles like me, but come on man, it so clear to anyone who plays fingerstyle clean guitar that he is just playing brighter picking-wise and allowing a tiny bit of string buzz through, and using his nails more the second time. Bollox is that difference the cable.

  • @Muzikman127 There's a lot of misinformation out there about cables, so we understand your skepticism. Other independent players in the video compared cables as well, and while it's true that playing style can influence tone, there is a significant difference that capacitance makes. That difference can be, and has been, easily measured. For more info see the cables page on our website.

  • @ElixirStringsMedia He should have played the EXACT same thing both times save your spin for the dealers

  • @Muzikman127 cant make much of a diffrence on hammer-ons

  • the difference is mental...so much more top end...

question..do you swear there was no post production on this to make the elixir cable sound better? and that the A/B setups were utterly identical except for the cables..all eq's and gain the same?

  • @bigbigsound Absolutely!

  • @ElixirStringsMedia :-) im convinced, ive already asked the locla music shop to get some in so ican hear it for myself.

Whats the deal with the sound difference on things other than guitar, would my soundcard sound "shiney-er" too?

Also how much db boost (if any) occurs with the elixir cables,i say this because they sound louder...

    rsvp cheers :-)

  • @bigbigsound Glad to hear you're going to try it! It won't help your sound card, and there is no dB boost -- I suspect that what you're hearing as louder is actually those high frequencies coming through that were lost with your previous cables. Looking forward to hearing what you think when you've played with it awhile!

  • I didn't realize cables had that much of an impact, the elixir cables are much clearer. Definitely going to take a look.

  • what gauge are u using right there? is it .009 or .010?

  • @darkmatter462 That's our Electric Light set, .010-.046.

  • lol look at the ordinary cable at 2:6 looks like monster? LOL monster are good..

  • I have to say I like the ordinary cable more at 1:35. 'Cause it gives a warmer tone. Though, that's just what I think.

  • @muppanz I totally agree the ordinary cable at 1:35 sounded a lot better

  • The advantage that this cable brings to you sound is cancelled with an Elixir string. Even with the nanoweb the high freq.s are gone to an extend.

  • There have been a lot of bass players commenting about this in the Discussions tab of our FB page, and also on some external forums like TalkBass. If no bass players reply here, I'd check those two sites as well.

  • @ElixirStringsMedia CAN YOU USE THIS CABLE ON ELECTRIC ACOUSTIC GUITAR?

  • @aldobu1990 Sorry for the crazy response delay! YouTube comments notification is sketchy at best, and your comment was hiding in between some we answered 6-8 months ago....

Yes, you can use the cable on an electric/acoustic guitar.

  • what amp + effects you use?

  • We had DigiTech pedals (all off) and a DigiTech amp simulator (model GSP 1101).

  • @ElixirStringsMedia CAN YOU USE THIS CABLE ON ELECTRIC ACOUSTIC GUITAR?

  • is that an avenged sevenfold sticker on that strat??

  • Looks similar, but not an Avenged Sevenfold sticker.

  • fair enough, I just bought an elixir cable the other night because the tip of my old cable snapped off..

  • what a beautiful strat!!!! i love elixir strings, they last forever. had no idea they make cables. definitely going to pick some up. i don't even need to hear them to know that they are good.
