  • This was never on the soundtrack LP but only available as a free flexi single with one of the American guitar magazine's.

My mate and i must have rented this video fifty time's and wore this segment of the tape out,ha ha.

A big thank you to the person who posted this.

Peace, love and guitar's to you all.

  • Do the crane kick, eh, I mean the C locrian mode.

  • oww I love a competition like this :)

  • What song is this ?6:40

  • @realjuvelive eugenes trickbag

  • Whats the name of that video were steve vai is a green devil?

  • What guitar does vai have?

  • @moom50

It is a Kramer guitar. Thoose guitars was very popular in the 80ies.

  • @heihei2300

    Wrong,it's a Charvel San dimas.

  • @Sunedosa Its na Ibanez man

  • @tokojojiji

Pfff,it's a Charvel/Jackson san dimas, this was made one year before Steve Vai officially started endorsing ibanez guitars. Ibanez never made strat style guitars with Charvel style headstocks and Floyd rose original that this guitar has,it doesn't even look like an Ibanez . Simply put, you're wrong.

During this time Wayne Charvel and grover Jackson co-owned the company, the version used in crossroads is a charvel san dimas with a Jackson neck. Easy to find here if you search .

  • Respond to this video...

This is the one used in the movie, it has a Jackson logo on the headstock but that was taped over in the movie. It's now hanging in a hard rock casino in biloxi.

Jackson customshop even makes a reissue of it, it retails for 1999 $

  • @Sunedosa I saw that before I moved up here. I miss Biloxi so much!

  • esta genial este video aunque me gustaria que alguien lo subiera en español

  • Ry cooder did all the blues solos, vai did his own and the second half of the trick bag solo. HE DIDN'T do the arpeggios at the start of the trick bag that was done by a classical guitarist whos name escapes me at the mo.

  • Wax on Wax off. Nice to see you again Karate Kid.

  • That dancing lady pisses me off...

  • 1:55 Bad Horsie

  • yeah well, Ry Cooder plays the blues parts, and stevie Vai can't hold his jock.

  • @wileypayote Why in the hell would Steve Vai even want to hold his jock. I can bet you Ry couldnt play that solo

  • his suit coats like three sizes too big

  • I challenge anyone to upload a video of them and another player playing this full song.

  • it is not real the steve vai

  • it is not real

  • it's not real

  • Brillant both Vai and Ray Vaughn RIP

  • Hard to believe that Steve Vai is only 1 year older than Ralph.

  • @JohnLemazing good point

  • The blues ain't nothing but a bad man feeling good!

  • In my opinion Steve Vai def won :D

  • @JohnLemazing sry u cant beat classic mousic ;)

  • its kinda weird cause these songs like juice and bad horsie are early thoughts and riffs about to become songs later on in alien love secrets.

  • My favorite movie clip of all time!!!

  • @richs050 RIGHT with you on that one budddy ! Every time you play it its still as fresh as the first time

  • The Crossroads Guitar Duel... One of my FAVORITE movie clips of all time!!! Loved that movie!

  • I love butler's bag :D

  • steve vai actually played all of the guitar playing EVERYTHING

  • lol @ HEAD cut

  • lookiing at steve vai play i dont even play guitar anymore makes me look ike a newbie

  • If Paul Gilbert was there, Karate Kid would be shitting in his pants!!!! :)

  • @dhr0014 And if Joe Satriani was there so would Paul Gilbert :)

  • @dhr0014 but they were going for evil guitar sounds not total genius fucking art making -.- sad enough that the sound is shitty

  • @dhr0014 HAHAHAHA LOL :D

  • 6:48 "WTF?"

  • Guitar = god.

  • haha too bad its steve vai playing every guitar sound you hear! proves just how amazing the guy really is :D

  • @vetmanmarcus Nah Vai didnt play all of it. Ry Cooder played Ralph Macchio's part

  • @vetmanmarcus and your an idiot, ry cooder played ralph part.

  • I've said it a million times before ! If Stevie Ray Vaughan had been the Devil's guitarist the karate kid & Blind Dog wouldn't have stood a chance !!!!!

  • @75CHUD Stevie Ray Vaughn couldn't play the technical stuff, he would have lost.

  • steve vai, lost from himself xD

  • Mr. Ibanez .. playin a Jackson

  • @omahascout its a 80's charvel, during the brief period when charvels had jackson type headstocks

  • die fuckers die!!! i am the devil pawnin' off ralph machismo-for a gig at guitar center -fuck dem too!!!! anti solo and scales-write a song from yer heart and soul ya buncha flash pans!!!!

  • this never gets old, awesome film

  • Sorry Ralph, Steve's playing was cleaner and crisper than yours.

  • I love this movie.

LOL I just realised that the guy with the Fedora that laughs is Dyson from the Terminator 2

  • lol pretty sure steve vai can play that in his sleep

  • @graffthemetalhead That's because he practices for about 14 hours a day.

  • @graffthemetalhead lol pretty sure he wrote it for the kid

  • @graffthemetalhead with both hands on a two necked heart shaped guitar even LOL ^_~)

  • @graffthemetalhead No, steve vai could play that by just looking at a guitar.

  • awesome

  • Bad Horsie is the beginning riff Steve Vai plays on the start of the Headcuttin' Duel...just in case anyone was wondering

  • the black girl in freaks me out with the way she dances.

  • that was not full

  • in 3:21 vai is slike screaming in the kid s face haha!!

  • Don't get me wrong, love this final scene...but why is the devil and the people at the blues bar relying on an 80s heavy metal gutiarist to "take out" blue's men? lol just wondering.

  • Good point...I've always wondered that myself.

  • @mwhittrick88 it's just any 80's guitarist...its a guy so freakishly good that no one understands his newer music...he's so good he's gotten weird

  • @mwhittrick88 because blues is the bases of rock and roll, without it there would be no metal. all metal really is, is blues mixed with a little classical. ( real metal like Malmsteen)

  • @mwhittrick88 lol no clue man.

  • why's the video so choppy?

  • whats the last song?

  • @coozy100 Paganini's 5th Caprice

  • Cool

  • stiv vei

  • great playn.....

  • Coool !! Great duel ! Steve is an incredible guitar player, whatever he plays ...

  • ..."Jack Butler is gonna like you"...

  • at the beggining of the duel steve plays the beggining of bad horsie

  • Awesome isn't he?

  • He used Carvin back in the day, but he also used Jem custom guitars which are awesome!

  • on wich guitar did steve play in crossroads?

  • @gunsproof Ibanez I think.

  • @JASONX410

i tought a Charvel of Jackson

  • 1986 Charvel San Dimas.

  • its a Charvel actually

  • What kinda blues man wears sneakers.? Lame.

  • steve play 2 guitars -------- of karate kid

and his guitar of steve vai

    (sorry for my english! xD)

  • No,Ry Cooder played the kids part on the tele,Steve only played what you see him play in this scene. Also Arlen Roth, and Ry Cooder played the scores through out the movie.

  • Also the classical scores heard in the movie were performed by William Kanengiser as well as being one of Ralph's tutors for this movie as well as Arlin Roth.Steve Vai only played wht you see him play in this scene,(NOTHING)else in this movie had anything to do with Steve.

  • obviously steve vai woulda won this battle

  • really? wow? you're insightful!

  • who is the little kid???

  • The little KID??

Ralph MAcchio! Aka. The karate kid.

  • is that true??? did he really won vai????(O_O)

  • its pretty cool seeing steve like this wwithout his jem and not totaly dependant on his whammy bar

  • Two White boys fighting each other over the soul of a old black dude, that is owned by a black devil. And blues is the weapon.

  • Ahh Classic Adaptations is the weapon

  • Хороший фильм и Стиви в нём хорош!!!

  • great ending to a great movie! steve vai and cooder did a great job!the only thing wrong with the movie is the karate kid! terrible actor! and obviously cant play the giutar at all!!!!

  • "where and when for this thing?

Oh, I can get us there real quick. Jack Butler's gonna like you"

  • the las solos remindedme about yngwie malmsteen

  • i <3 U steve vai!!!

  • 1:15

  • that is one bad horsie

  • yeap...

  • Did he say "I love you"?

  • @SELECTtowatch he said "I own you".. i guess =)

  • 7:40

I just imagine Macchio in his mind being like "FUCKING OWNED"

  • Ralph's part from 2:32 to 2:49 is amazing. Been playing guitar 6 years and never really considered slide playing but when I heard this part I uped and got myself a slide :) Great fun to use.

  • Steve Vai is so awesome he doesn't even fuck up good at the end!

  • Maybe THE best guitar movie of all time!!!

  • He done the Bad Horsie Dance.....

  • SWEEP THE LEG!!

  • that really made me lol!!

  • What's steves little dance at 2:02???? its crzey

  • its funny cause the guy with the tele cant get most of those guitar sounds without using a pick, and he has none so its impossible lol

  • it's called a film - not real!!!

  • i was just saying it was funny watching it and pick sounds coming out

  • you clearly either havnt played gutiar or arnt very good..

  • he finger picks and if you look closly, the thing on the finger makes those sounds. alot of great players use it, e.x david gilmour.

  • 1:35 "Uhhhhhhh HUH"

  • Quién sabe que le habrá dicho Jack Butler a Legba y cómo se habrá sentido el resto de su vida. :(

  • what song is this playing at the beginning by vai? thats nuts.

  • Butler's Bag

  • awesome:P

  • hahaha ralphs a good actor funny to think steve vai is playing both guitars and wrought both guitar tif's

  • i dont understand why they put thst little dumbass against steve vai

  • ralph is the only guitarist who could knock steve out of the competion.

  • That woman dancing around the stage is SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!! LMAO!

  • she has to keep the stage from being a sausage fest :)

  • hahahaha

  • @punkmusicmetal: That FUCKING ANNOYING woman... I'd do her anytime anywhere... She's soooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @punkmusicmetal i agree!

  • Humans never realize "there's always someone Better."

  • do iron birds ever realize that? :O

  • plantpage1969, it should make you want to be a better guitarist, you never heard mr.page talking shit about fellow musicians, nor vai. you sir..fail.

  • Um, it wasn't a serious comment. It was a reflection on the corniness of the movies from the 80's. I should have made myself more clear.

  • Who does Ralph Macchio play as? What guitarist

  • Well I dont think he plays any guitarist in particular but his guitar parts were pre- recorded by ry cooder.

  • This video wants to make me punch Steve Vai in the face for being an 80's douche.

  • wtf are you talking about?!?!? he absolutely NAILS the role of a demony bad guy axeman. It couldnt have been done any better. Thats why you want to punch him - a great compliment to his portrayal. I hope he doesnt find you and beat you senseless for being an '09 douche! lol : )

  • This was when Steve Vai was absolutely bad ass, no one plays reved up blues licks as fiercely as SV

  • Well, except SRV.

  • Wouldn't that be something to see a duel like this somewhere....

  • no doubt!! a real guitar duel would rock! (pun intended)

  • The last second of the film..

    Steve Vai, looking PISSED.

    Hilarious. xD

  • you can put a slide on any finger

  • what a fruit. thats not how you play slide at all. You don't have the slide on ur ring finger, it goes on ur pinky. hey could have done a better job on this scene, makeing it more believeable.

  • it depends how you play. i play with it on my ring. i know people who play with it on their middle. its about feel

  • I love the movie. But, yeah ... almost all movies have minor bloopers. Yeah, the slide goes on pinkey so you have your three main fingers to hit other licks with.

  • there's no rules on it really... i know several different slide players, some prefer the pinky, some the ring... its personal preference, there is no correct style.. a lot of players simply hold it in their hand lap steel style....

  • Thanks for saying that on where the slide part goes on the pinky, love this guitar scene but i don't play one always seamed strange to me having on the ring finger. i thought i would be hard to play with it there.

  • steve doesnt use it on his pinky

  • c'est enooorme !!!!

  • Le film est absolument à voir !!!

Merci pour la vidéo l'ami ERIC :)

    Blues'ment vôtre,

    Jules
