  • I'm about to go out and work on my car. I would look to see if the clips popped off either by the shifter or on the transmission. They are held in by tension, and if you shift hard enough one or both can pop out. Right now, I kind of have 1st thru 5th, but reverse won"t kick in at all. I would definitely check that before blowing that much money on cables. I got clips for my 2g eclipse for 4.50 a piece online.

  • what year and make car are you worken on. thanks

  • bad cable go to a junkyard find a used one for around 20 i would say cables dont usually break used one as long as never been abused would function as new

  • same thing happend to me while I was racing with my 98 z24. My trany was stock on the 5th gear. I had to drive like that for like 30 km to get to my mechanic. he charged me $280 for part and $100 labor.

(I won the first round anyway racing with 2001 prelude manual.)

  • i think that might've just happened to my car. I shifted real quick and the transmission seemed to snap out of place but like u said it was flowing freely and i could somewhat still shift. Is this expensive to fix?

  • It cost the price of the cables, about $120 brand new

  • i think my cable is broken too. my car is stuck in first
