Ali beat Foreman when he was 32 and George was 25 and unbeaten.

He beat Liston who had tons of experience and ALi was only 22.

He beat Frazier 2 of 3 times all past his own prime and went 15 rds in the sole loss agaisnt a prime Joe after being out the ring for 3 1/2 years.

Ali didn't go right into the ring with Frazier after his three year lay off Bigbadben. He fought Quarry and Bonavena first and the Bonavena fight was pretty ugly and awkward. He got his practice in first though, not to diminish his accomplishments in any way. Just for the sake of fact. Plus, I believe Ali is only two years older than Frazier and with the three years out of the ring they had about two years difference in professional fighting. Ali started 5 yrs earlier and had the 3 years off.

My point is he wasn't ready to fight someone as good as Joe yet.

I think he would have beaten Bonavena worse than he did a few years earlier even though he did score a 15 rd KO.

Frazier fought Bonevan twice and never KOd him and was knocked down by Oscar.

Like I said, I'm not trying to belittle his achievements. I do disagree about him not being ready though. I think if he was ever going to be ready to jump in with the top dogs, it was time. He had a great career, got in shape, had his practice against guys who were a step below the best and rightly moved on. As for who did what against mutual opponents, those arguments go nowhere because styles make fights and you can't necessarily gage anything from how two men did against the same opposition.

Vs Bonavena- Frazier 10/15 rd decesions

Ali 15 rd KO.

Vs Chavalo- Frazier 4th rd KO, Ali 15/12 rd decesions.

Vs Mathis- Frazier KO 11, Ali 12 rd decesion.

Vs Quarry- Frazier, 7th/5th rd KOs,

Ali 3rd/7th rd KOs.

Vs Bugner- Frazier 12 rd decesion, Ali 12/15rd decesions.

Frazier KOd by Foreman rds 2/5 and Ali's KO of Foreman rd 8 is the biggest difference next to 2-1 Ali head to head.

Frazier KOd Ellis in a middle rd, Ali kod him in the last rd.

They both either got decesions or late KOs of Mathis, Bonevena and Bugner and they both had early and mid rd KOs of Quarry.

Only Frazier's early KO of Chavalo is that much different than Ali vs Chavalo decesions.

But that is countered by Ali KO of Foreman vs Joe's KOs by Foreman.

Lee didn't compete pro but a great many people witnessed him getting into fights-which he was prone to outside sport fighting. Not many people claim he ever lost one on the street either. I'm sure there's plenty of exaggeration there and lies but not that damned consistently. Even fights on his movie sets and to suggest that maybe he couldn't put his technical prowess into practice because he didn't do it for an offical athletic record is ludicrous.

Just because Frazier was able to stand didn't mean he was 'healthy' enough for one more round. Ali stood later too. That doesn't prove anything. Ali pretty much took over from the 10th round on and Eddie Futch knew Frazier was possibly facing permanent damage. Say what you will, it was a good stoppage.
