I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE can notice this.... But I bet 10.000 bucks that Eddie took PART OF the music from the BLACK BIRD by the BEATLES, listen to it carefully ... when he sings "slide up next to me"... Its the same melody as "black bird singing in the dead of night, take this broken wings and learn to fly, all your life, you were only waiting...and so on" Except its slightly modified, but its still there... Of course i dont mind him...

If you want a genuine example of plagiarism, Given to Fly sounds very like Going to California by Led Zeppelin. But Led Zeppelin outright stole some of their songs off others too.

To me this song is an apology to his wife and children. He was "Eddie Vedder" before he met his wife and now he has to continue to play the character as well as being a devoted husband and father to his 2 children. He now realizes that his time is running out to do both and this song tells his side of the story.
