  • That sure will melt the lights.

Looks like a review of truck company operations is in order.

  • Looks like a little sizeup and driver training might be inorder

  • Just my personal opinion good job to the ff that moved the truck dangerous? yes.....but for those ff on the ladder it could have been fatal the fire progressed to fast for second guessing yourself for only a moment

  • @TheLaidlaw11 As an officer of this company at the time... the cheif was in contact with the bucket and the guys were ingulfed in the flames! he raised the outriggers an inch from the ground and it did let him move the truck. I am not by any means saying that the truck was not too close, because they were....

  • Our older e-one unit had exterior sprinklers mounted on the Engine for when the Engine becomes an exposure.

I guess they figured they don't need to install them on ladder units as they don't get that close to the fire : 0 (let the battle begin !!)

  • Its a 95 ft 2003 mid mount tower ladder by E one

  • It is about to melt. Back up !

  • im from perrycounty too

  • What size ladder?

  • would love to know how the truck was able to move with the ladder in the air none of the units around my area can do that

  • @floor41

Manual Overriding can be done on any Aerial Unit, if you dont know how, contact your MFG of your rig for a demonstration, although it will be a challenge it is not advised unless your competent.

  • thats teh ABC EAST bowling alley fire ...this is the Steelton Pa Ladder truck whihc is in dauphin county LOL there is also a DAUPHIN frie company too

  • @HelloHansSolo how the hell would you know who the Dauphin County FD is since there is no such thing as "Dauphin County FD"

  • @HelloHansSolo goes to show you know nothing. they shoulda froze you in carbonite instead of Capt Solo

  • Gutterball.

  • Someones PASS device was going off

  • @XxBoNormanxX im 12 and i know lots about firefighting bcz im gonna be a vol wen im 16 then be the real deal but wat is a pass device

  • @itsjosh99 It means "Personal Alert Safety System" if you stop moving in 15 seconds it sounds a loud alarm letting others know your in danger or incapacitated, search "Pass Device" and it tells more.. Good career choice, good luck.

  • Why is a pass device going off and everyone ignores it?

  • @SPEEDINGemoKIDD Sounds more like the tower's backup alarm than a PASS device

  • @SPEEDINGemoKIDD Sometimes they take off their jacket or turnout gear and lay it down forgetting it is on, I am not sure that is the situation here but seen it happen numerous times..

  • next time let the cops get that front row seat.

  • was that dual roar the fire?? damn never heard that before

  • and this is why we think before we park!

  • bad truck placement huh?

  • Woa Im only 13 and my Birthday is in may and at age 14 you can become a volunteer fire fighter for Cornwells station 16 and they pay for you to go to fire school but im no where ready for that at all

  • great vid and thats and is the blue car on the left under cover cop or like a fire chief?

  • @texas9ish A fire chief vehical is a marked vehical like all of the union fire company station 37 chiefs have marked hummer H3s that say Union of fire company Union 37 Bensalem fire department

  • @skateskool100 so what the hell is it

  • @texas9ish Its probably fire police or a personal car of a chief, dunno how Dauphin county is, but usually in pa under cover cop cars (unless extremely old) will still have both red and blue lights.. Only variance might be a detective or something. (but seeing as this fire just started doubt its a detective unless he was driving by) Fire Chiefs use all red n white while volley's use blue n white,(in pa at least ) Fire police depend entirely on what their dept sog's are..

  • @DrkRonin19 I agree it's probably the Fire Chiefs personal car looks like a red rotating tear drop light they used in the mid 80-early 90s and the wig-wag headlights are still used not like they used too.. Now most cars have 100 of LEDS and strobes and that is their choice but our captain uses a "mini fury ox" it's bright and get the job done. I would recommend it to anyone that volunteers and are very cheap.. Type in "mini fury ox" on youtube and see the patterns, they sell them on amazon

  • @sydewaycurvz69 Hell if i know what the differences are, I started out with an old whalen that my uncle gave me from when he was a ff. now I just have some little led one for my wind shield.

  • @DrkRonin19 All I have is one led for my windshield same as you, some take it way too far and have have 20-30 lights on their vehicle.. Stay safe man..

  • @sydewaycurvz69 I could see a few hide away's and a mini mount in the front wind shield but 20-30 is just wacker-crazy all depends on the traffic you deal with to get to the fire house...haha its woman, but thanks, still counts, you stay safe too :)

  • @DrkRonin19 Yeah I agree some people just way over do it, there is nothing wrong with having them on all sides of your vehicle but when you start spending $5k for lights that you can see from space that is just over doing it..lol take care

  • what fire was that grease structure electric

  • Hey Cap, is it just me or is it gettin hot in here? Eh, lemme turn up the A/C. Man, it smells like burnt paint in here!

  • hey chief were getting kinda close its awful warm....eh pull up we'll be good

  • Wow if theres a fire in the US then it´s a big Fire!

  • truck 50 needs a good swift kick in the nuts for parking that close in the first place...

  • @bradbitt2006 I KNOW THOSE GUYS & THEY TOLD

ME THEY GOT THE FIRE PUSHED ON THEM BECAUSE THE OTHER TRUCK CO. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE

DOING. ON THE JOB 24 YRS.F.D.N.Y. 273 ENGINE........

  • @bradbitt2006 there was another truck co. on the other side and half of them were probies and had no clue what the fuck they were doing. they vented the wrong causing the fire to rapidly increse cuasing thi sladder co. trouble and them havein to back out

  • @ryanlovestosnowboard Unless you know what you are talking about you need to shut it. Were you there with truck 50? or 88? or T1? Get the facts about who was there and what happened before you shoot your mouth off

  • @ryanlovestosnowboard really? any good reason to have the truck that close then? *cough* collapse zone... or maybe my depth perception isnt what it used to be.

  • @ryanlovestosnowboard Whoever you are obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. The other truck company was Progress 32 and they vented properly. Also 32 is the only county company that has standards to ride a special service aka Tower. Probies don't even look at the tower let alone touch it. I was operating out of the bucket with Truckman Lipsett and vented the roof. Both of us had more truck expirence than anyone on Truck 50. Proper truck positioning would have prevented this.

  • Comment removed

  • @didas831 ok i dont. i read an article saying that it was the other truck companys fauly( article didnt say who it was) now that i know it was 32 i regret saying what i said becuase 32 is a good fire company. Im sorry adn your right with positioning. They should of kept the truck back a little farther.

  • i here the msa alarm at 0:27

  • For surely did the right thing! except the driver obviously didnt remember what collapse zone means...

  • this is why there is a collapse zone

  • Why take a Tower so close to the building anyway? The Towers these days have total mobility and can reach/depress etc where the old Ladders couldn't.Bad siting on the Chauffeurs behalf.

  • @MegaTonkaman well put

  • @MegaTonkaman well said sound like you know your stuff

  • Can these trucks produce and roll at the same time?

  • @benisthesexyest yes some not all ladder trucks have a split drive that runs the pump and still leaves the tuck mobile if need to move quickly incase it get into trouble but most truck drivers are smart enough not to place a truck like that

  • @1979firefighter obviously he wasnt thinking when they arrived on scene or is new to the brigade and not used to ladder trucks

  • @xX3movamp1reXx well you now in hind site mistakes happen but the oic should have known better than placing a ladder that close thats why there called ladder trucks thy can reach out there to help us get our jobs done safely but at least every still got home safe

  • just as well truck 50 backed out man that was a structure fully involved maybe protecting nearby buildings would be the chiefs order great vid well done

  • Dang what a fire. Its never good when you here your airpack beeping.

  • holy shit!

  • oh snap!

  • Damn that place was lit up. Dont bother savin it. Just keep it under control

  • good thing u got it out in time that struce looks weak because from the fire damage any minute that would of collopse on the truck

  • nice fire

  • For those people who have never been in a burning building and felt the devil at your heels, you may never understand. But everyday we risk our lives as saviors of home and lives, losing our friends to the beasts. And the respect we have for each other is a brother hood, for those people who think the NYFD is a pile of trash, try running into 2000 degree heat them talk to us, then start talking trash.

And yes that was a MSA, it goes off every 30-36 seconds pain in the ass sometimes

  • @scott91101 GREAT WORDS BROTHER ! ! WHILE THEIR RUNNING OUT, WE'RE RUNNING IN ! ! ! COME GET SOME * HAHA LOVE THE BROTHERHOOD NOTHING BETTER IN THE WORLD ! ! AND BY THE WAY IT'S FDNY BUT IT'S OK BROTHER ! ! STAY SAFE AND GOD BLESS ALL MY BROTHER'S AND SISTER'S ..RAY FROM LONG ISLAND NY TERRYVILLE FIRE DEPT COMP.3

  • what is a MSA? I'm down in australia..

  • @000PUMPER000 MSA is a brand of firefighting equipment in America but here in Australia we have some MSA equipment, i know the DSU(De-Stress Unit) and the gas dectors on our pumpers have that brand..... in a earlyer post he said he could here the MSA low air alarm. in other words he has less than 50 Bars of air left.

  • i onlt looked at the recent posts... couldve just said low air -) yeah i know what DSU's are =)

  • love the U/.C PD car just wig wags and a cherry on the roof .

  • its not a fire alarm. its their PASS devices. ours have the exact same sound.

  • Yep thats PASS alarm, what is that an MSA?

  • sounds like MSA low air alarm...the MSA pass devices so quiet....

  • I know it's the PASS device. But I don't know who's it was. I don't think it was the guys coming down the ladder. Who knows?

  • Good thing he stopped backing up with the boom up. The powerlines were going to get hit.

  • i think you can not back up with your tower up

  • oooops

  • i remember this fire. is was at ABC bowling ally

  • awesome video

  • An old E-One we had was equipped with the exterior sprinklers in case the truck became an exposure. So we decided to try it out one day......works great on the outside.

Unfortunately works great on the inside as well...flooded the whole inside of the truck, shorted radios..siren. Warranty work as the manufacturer didn't tighten the plumbing running threw the cab...lol

  • Firefighters rule the roost XD WPFD outta new york ralph u may know whitney point XD we are an hour away near I-81

  • This video is dope yo! I bet who ever posted this video has a really cool older brother

  • cool

  • this happen near me, this was a bowling alley and there was no fire on that side when they got there but due to the arc of the roof it trapped and when it finally got air it flashed and came out the side at them, the driver backed up to get the guys in the bucket out of the heat quicker

  • Why was the truck parked so close to a working fire to begin with? I know the fighters have to get in there but isn't there a reg on how close to have a app to a working fire?

  • Maybe the fire Spread.

  • yes you must be out of the collapse zone, which looks like he was. i dont think the IC was planning on the fire getting this big, but looks like the wind was kicking ass

  • Moving with the ladder up is bad for the frame but you gotta do what ya gotta do...

  • How did this fire get so involved? Extended into crawlspace/annex??

  • How is the truck able to move with the boom still up!??

  • Comment removed

  • probly burned the paint off the truck lol :D

  • Whats that fire alarm sounding thing? Like, I hear it in a lot of videos. Just wanna know what it is

  • PASS device, it goes off if you remain motionless for a certain amount of time. its attached to your airpack. just to find the ff if he goes down in the structure. this video someone prob put there pack on the ground and forgot to turn it off.

  • Thanks so much, I always wondered what it was.

    Also, how'd you find out?

  • no problem, and i'm a firefighter

  • i hate it when people dont turn there pass off

  • I know what you're talking about, I hear it too. It is the fire alarm.

  • no its the PASS alarm

  • GO BACK TO DRIVERS TRAINING !!!!

  • been there seen that at a fire Oaklynn 5 alarmer. Guys where jumping out of the bucket.

  • Hi my name is Ralph and I am a fireman out of house 252 Squad in Brooklyn on Central Ave. I recivied a very disturbing e mail from a chap named scconservative, he makes videos of Charleston S.C. Please give him a shout and let him know what the FDNY means to you. This is what he wrote to me

    scconservative wrote:

The only good thing about 9/11 was the fact that your fag buddies died in those towers screaming like the bitches that they are. Fuck New York, and Fuck YOu

  • I say we put scconservative inside one of those towers on that day and see how the hell he would react, im damn sure he would have run down the stairs crying and screaming. The only people that would know what it was like in those towers were the guys that were in there. Ive been a firefighter for 3 years, and i have the upmost resepct for the firefighter that lost their lives that day and the ones that are helped with the rescue efforts.

  • You have this scumbag's email address?? I'm gonna bitch his ungrateful ass out.

  • I appreciate this!. As for the guy who wrote that crap? He ran off like a little pussy. I am no longer at 252 Squad, left that to the young guys. I am over at the smoke busters at 217 House. If you in the NYC stop by! Thanks for the back up! I am over anyone on here talking shit, they hide behind the you tube computer screen.

  • Well, that guy is just a fucking scumbag. You,and all the other NYC firemen, are true heroes. Don't let anybody say different. I'll back ANY fireman-they deserve the support for what they do. Keep up the great work man.

  • Like u Lol ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • whoa whoa whoa hold on tell him alot of ppl wnt to kill him hes gnna be on a lotta ppls shit list i hav the upmost respect for a nyc firefighter an i hurt ppl that talk shit bout em

  • hey brotha I am a volly outta 22 fairfax county( in the process of becoming paid) that guy is a piece of shit and he doesnt dersvere a thing in life you guys are the best. I visited NY 5 years ago and my biggest regret was not getting to see and meet you guys I went to 10 house but they were out on a run. you guys are my heros and i hope I could be half the firefighter you guys were in my career good luck and stay safe at217. And to scconservation fuck you and go to hell you deserve to burn

  • absolutely dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The truck should have been taken out of there as soon as fire started coming through the roof. Never trust a truss.

  • we are a volunteer copmany we responded to help the city (paid) out in the johnstown ny fire, posted on here. we told them there engine and ladder were to close they did not listen and they has to take both out of service for 2 months for repair due to melting and sucking embers into the air filter causing a fire in the engine it can happen to anyone.

  • Do volunteer firefighters get paid as much as career/ seasonal firefighters.

  • Volunteer means you do it without pay. However, some companies do pay the volunteers once a year at $5 per call.

  • all i can say is DAMN! that is a ripping fire there boy!

  • volunteer?

  • 100%

  • @jasonashley052008 Just because these giys screwed up and did not disconect the LDH it should not be reflective of all volunteer dept's. I served as a paid and vol ff/ao for 20 years...

  • @jasonashley052008 what does volunteer have to do with anything? I know my dept wouldnt be that dumb and park that close. That was the engineers fault all the way.

  • @dodge0657 ding ding ding here comes the shit mobile

  • @dodge0657 Spoken like a true Volly...Those are your brothers in there it is everyones fault on scene. It's a team fail.

  • awesome video keep it up

  • the first call we went on in are new truck one of the fireman hit it.

  • our new pierce allsteer 1999 delivered wasn't even in service yet when a driver was learning how to drive it when it was involved in an accident in the station yard. the back end swung out a 'little' more than realized and crushed a pov truck. funny part? it was the above listed driver's own truck.

    how's that for justice?

once in service, the allsteer electronics went wacko. change wiring loom and sensors 3x, now left in LOCKOUT for safety reasons. final straw was crushed a CHP motorbike.

  • Unless there is a threat of collapse, which the truck wasn't that close to worry about, move. If its just a case of radient heat thats what hand lines are for. Wet down the truck just like an exsposure building to keep it from burning

  • grant it his outriggers arent down and the stick is kinda in the air, if he has to move due to extreme conditions thens hes gotta move

  • only thing wrong here is the apparatus is moving with a guy in the cherry picker and the side legs are not down to hold it from tipping the apparatus

  • thats why they put the boom straight with the truck, you only have to worry about having the jacks out when your operating to either side of the truck but they probably put it straight and pulled the jacks up so they could move

  • the loud noises is the backup alarm and at the end a firefighter turning their scba on

  • was that a tpass i herd at the end?

  • its never a good day when you hear pass alarms going off.....

  • ive always heard these, what exactly are they? and when do they go off?

  • Its that loud, screeching noise you hear in the background. Its devise that is on the scba sholder strap(on older models) and on the new air packs they are intergrated. On the old packs, they are solely used so that if a firefighter doesnt move for 2 min or so, it will start going off. This way other ff's can come to his resque if they are injured. The new ones go off if you dont move for the 2 min AND if you are low on air. Its a safety device keeping ff's safe when they go into a fire.

  • i think that newer models beep a warning after 15 seconds and go off after 17 seconds of no motion, 2 minutes is a long time for no none to know that your in trouble.

  • yeah as soon as i submited that comment i thought to my self 2 min is totally wrong. i dont know what i was thinking. yeah 15 seconds is right. sorry about that

  • and in this case, they are probably empty packs that a ff just through on the ground and grabed a new one, and didnt take the time to shut off the alarm. Some models are pretty touchy and can go off even when the pack is sitting in the engine at the hall. It happens. Hope this makes sence to you.

  • I understand.

Lets say something falls on a firefighter and knocks him down. After two minutes, the alarm will go off, so the other can find him?

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

  • You got it! yeah i think its more like 30 seconds now that i think about it. But yes thats how it works

  • yes it 30 sec

  • if your standing there on a rit team it sesms like it goes off every five seconds

  • if your standing on a rit team, it takes 5 seconds to crank on your cylinder. there is no excuse to let that thing off, people learn to tone it out and then when someone is actually down, it takes 5 mins to realise..no excuse at all.

  • seriously, you have 100ft of ladder on the rig, you don't need to be ten ft away

  • @funniedoug03 Yup!!

  • bad bad bad bad bad bad placement

  • dude that was a huge fire!

  • driver should have parked the unit with a quik escape route, instead of tryna back up with guys running all over the place. also check out the truck moving backwards with the ladder up, heading towards a power line. gotta keep up w the training. be safe.

  • I saw nothing wrong with what truck 50 did! They got out safe, and probaly did all they could!

  • there are clearly only a couple guys here on the job. we can't tell all the details from this far away. from listening to guys that WERE THERE, sounds like the fire moved pretty quick and they had to react. job well done fellas. gotta put life safety first and thats what happened. he can be my chaffeur any day. and as stated, its clearly not a snorkel and its clearly aligned with the truck. no tipping hazzard. shut your mouths and let them do their work.

Stay low and stay safe brothers.

  • just shows how fast a fire can change one min its safe to be in that position the next its not

  • JUST OUT OF CURIOUSITY How far do you think that snorkel can reach?

  • What Snorkel?? There was not a Snorkel on scene. If your referring to Truck 50, I believe it's a 95 FT midmount

  • Ok, with the grainy video its hard to tell, either way justinplyer15 seems to think the vehicle is too close. I don't think its as close as it looks and I think the driver put it where he thought it should go.

  • the truck was set up no more than 30 feet from the building. Where I took the video (about 250+ feet) I could feel the heat.

So just imagine what the guys in the bucket were feeling! Stay safe brothas...

  • True, the radiant heat would be really tremendous at 30 feet. So maybe justinplayer15 is correct.

  • oh yea, what kind of truck is that?

  • a e-one

  • Looks like a Pierce Aerialscope 95/100 ft. It doesn't have outriggers on the front though??

  • a Fire Truck? hahahahahah sorry couldn't resist

  • why did they put the truck so close to the fire common sense

  • the fire was on the other side of the bowling alley, things went south and it spread fast, getting too close to the ladder. if it werent for the actions of the driver of the ladder, they guys in the bucket would have been seriously injured, if not killed

  • Why don't you use your common sense to think that firefighters would put a $750,000 fire truck 30ft. away from a fire. Obviously it didn't start out on that side smarts.

  • No, seems more to me a pretty smart driver of the ladder truck in getting his guys out of harms way. To the person that was worried about the paint, The trucks an easy fix, not so easy if something would have happened to the guys in the platform if the chief did not take the action he did.

  • oh wo that is some intense footage niice video

  • was this in VA?

  • Swatara twp. PA- about 5 mins east from harrisburg

  • heh, I guess what some of these guys don't realize is that you can't predict everything that's going to happen. I say good thinking on the cheif, you can replace a truck, but you can't replace men.

  • Which FD are you with? That was an impressive fire. I'm glad everyone is OK after that close call. Was that ladder from your department or a mutual aid department?

  • hey MrWilburne ever hear of apparatus positioning...you should have payed attention when u initially lined the truck up..which means away from the potential collapse zone

  • Yes I have. I drove the Air-Truck, which was staged 200' away from where the video was taken. Read the last line of my last post...

  • He was out of the "Red" Or collapse zone ,the truck had to re-position due to heavy fire venting out of the building. Leave the guy alone. HE did a great job and he avoided a possibly deadly situation. This is wat the jobs all about. MAbey the word improvision is not in your vocabulary. As for the driver, way to get the job done. Keep up the good work.

  • my comment was 2 "edreed24" By the way.

  • thats dumb your lucky the truck didnt tip over you should have at least swung the stick over the truck before removing the outriggers

  • You know what's really dumb? When all you tubers think you can MMQB it when you WEREN'T EVEN THERE!!!haha. The boom was aligned and the jacks went up. They didn't have the time to put the bucket all the way down because they were getting BURNED! If you look at my other video, you can see someone with a handline trying to cool them off. Brave move by the chief, very ballsy. Don't forget about your collapse zone and maybe things like this can be avoided!

  • Looks like the "tower" is aligned with the truck, your just at a bad angle.

you guys shouldn't quit busting the operators balls, SHIT HAPPENS, did he get the truck out of there? YES. Did they lose the crew in the bucket?NO

stop bitching, its called a live and learn situation

we're a brotherhood, now lets act like it!

  • the stick is over th
