  • @drbilldc He also uses dat mic and has recommended it.. If this is ur 1st Samson is d way to go

  • hey, this is very nice info, thanks man.. btw do you know "superlux" headphone? taiwanese brand..

i have two "superlux" headphone, and one type superlux HD 662B looks exactly the same with that headphone and come with those exact bag too.. wow..

  • what do you mean by high end?

  • Hey man, thanks for your review, it was useful. Well spoken and informative.

I am currently shopping for mixdown headphones priced ~$60. I'm realistic about the price point but I do want my transducers to be as transparent as possible. We like transparent transducers, because they color the artist's intentions the least.

How are these working for you, do you get good translation to other systems?

  • I'd like to ask which microphone are you using in this video? I'm looking to buy and have it narrowed down to the samson CO1U.

  • @drbilldc the mic from the video it's a Shure Sm7b

  • im a recording artist and when im recording my voice i use the moster beats pros they are very different to the other consumer beats i highly recommend them

  • How flat is the frequency response compared to your monitor speakers? Are these accurate?

  • Nice vid. ty :)

  • i have expensive skullcandys and they record great.

  • Hi how do u create monitor mixes and send them out to the headphones without affecting the main mix?

  • i am using a Westone UM 1 in-ear type consumer headphone, i don't feel any overcolored bass sound, do you think that's okay for recording too?

  • @yankiez Those are in-ear monitors designed primarily for playing live, but they would also work well as a reference point, but I wouldn't mix with them. In ears use your ear cavity to create the bass frequencies which can become very tiring on your ear and also NOT provide you with a sound that would work well on several different speakers if you were to use them for mixing.

  • Could you recommend a headset that would work for both? I'm doing a little home studio recordings myself, but I'm kind of looking for a headset I can use for both recording and listening to beautiful music with some headphones with great sound for both sides :-)

  • dude i thought i was the only one that ran over my cables with my chair. lol

  • So it would be unnecessery to use monitors if i have these?because i cant get monitors at the moment. Thanks

  • @gotoka3000 Sorry but, you still need monitors to properly mix. But these headphones will help you in the mean time.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond can you explain that for us noobs? why do you need monitors to mix properly? How is it different using monitors than headphones? Thanks for all your help.

  • can i send you my logic project ? and you can kinda see whats wrong and whats good with it ?

  • I imagine we probably used the same AKG headphones :) They were good indeed but I liked my Sony monitoring headphones (the ones just about every engineer has) more. I have to try these CAD headphones now..I'm curious. CAD has some great mics and they deserve so much more respect than they get.

  • @ShivaTheAuspicious

Hey Shiva if you're still around, did you ever try the CAD MH310s?

  • how do these compare to Sony MDR-V6 in your opinion?

  • -_______- I was shopping for about 3 hours for headphones yesterday and you come out with this today. Hopefully my Audio-techinicas serve me well.

  • Hey Lewin, I have a recording question. How can I distort vocals like the Strokes?

  • good stuff i personally prefur the sony MDRs

  • I really love the Beyer DT770 Pro. Tried them at a shop in my city and they were so good.

  • hey, awsone channel, one of the most useful subscribes ive done.

i have a question about pedals: I want to buy a boost pedal for lead work, and i was thinking on a MXR Microamp. Where i should put it in the pedalboard? should it be put on the effects loop of the amp?

    please answer, cheers

  • @gdmcoped No you will wan a boost like that going into your input, not the loop!

  • @gdmcoped No you will want a boost like that going into your input, not the loop.

  • Comment removed

  • @gdmcoped TRY IT AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!

  • @gdmcoped TRY IT AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!

  • @GaragebandandBeyond are you sure?? im looking for a clean boost not gain boost, lots of people say it should go on the loop..

  • @gdmcoped Try it and find out for yourself what you like better!

  • Do you have any videos about microphone pre amps and how they work with different mics? If not, I think that it would be a helpful video

  • btw - I finally got around to buying one of the PreSonus TubePre's. Pretty badass little preamp. I don't have anything to replace the 12AX7 yet, but it seems to work well.

I sent them an email and mentioned I heard about their products through your YT channel. I never heard anything back, so I'm assuming they either got it or it was vaporized on arrival as spam...

    Cheers.

  • About how much do these phones run? You mentioned the hi end on the phones, do they do the same for low end?

  • @StarBoyJonesProds Yes they do!

  • You mentioned that you had to stretch them out a bit. Do they not have any adjustments at all? I need to replace my LTB's - I'm tired of gluing the swivel back on every other week. The epoxy seems to be holding much better, but they're not that great to begin with, so I'm looking for a replacement.

  • @Stratomacaster yes they have all the normal headphone adjustments. I have a huge head and needed to stretch them out a little bit. It was easy and not a big deal at all.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond Thanks Sputnik .. :-p

  • Love your channel keep posting vídeos :)

  • Good stuff. Hey Lewin, when I'm mixing with my headphones, everything sounds fine. However, when I play the music back through my laptop speakers (I have a Macbook Pro), the volume on the lead guitar is WAY higher and sounds overbearing. Do you have any insight as to what is going on? What is it with laptop speakers and more pronounced lead guitar?

  • @FranklinStein99 that's because the way your ears interact with the sound through headphones is different than monitors, so mixing on headphones ONLY is a big "no no". Try this, before you do your final mix down, listen to your song at a very low volume. That will help you understand if the overall balance is proper.

  • what about an another 'give-away-song-contest thing' Lewin? ^^ I would love to have these headphones :D

  • @nhung311 I have been wanting to do another giveaway. I think you're right about that.... stay tuned.
