  • thumbs up if u think this guy's one crazy rockin awesome bluegrass player

  • Many are ready to go,but we stay here as we must until finished our goal. Once a man came to Church. "Parson,I need from God a living, health, happiness,I need..." Parson: "Son you are so busy telling me what YOU need from God but you don't ask what the Lord needs FROM you". The man fainted. When he awoke the Parson said "No need to faint, now is the time to believe & do good loving deeds".

    Ricky started his own family label, called;

    'Skaggs Family Albums'

They have a You Tube channel and his new song 'Picture' is GREAT!

It's difficult, for a family label, up against the 'big guy's'

Please visit, subscribe, and support, this National Treasure!

He doesn't whine about copyright infringements!

    God bless!

  • I love this Bluegrass music - reminiscent of Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys.

There's a current picture today in our weekender newspaper of Ricky who is sporting a long hair style which touches his shoulders. At first I didn't recognize him. Of course, I haven't seen him in concert in five years. He and Kentucky Thunder are doing a benefit in a town near by tonight. If I hadn't other plans I'd be right there. The article mentions he also plays a mandocello - What is that?

    Thanks - Paula

  • aaaaahhhhh get it Ricky!!!

  • That poor poor Madolin. lol

  • such a legend. six years old when he first played with Monroe.

  • They came to Manhattan Kansas and it was amazing! One of the most impressive groups of musicians ive ever seen!

  • Ricky Skaggs is my 2nd cousin and i just barely found that out and im 23 years old I guess thats why i can play instruments too lol

  • @Ragnag my pap played with him ask your dad if he ever talked about william h mooney

  • That fiddle player is Andy Leftwhich. He is amazing!!! :-) Played on my album i recorded in Nashville. He also plays mandolin, banjo, ganjo and guitar!!

  • I'm usually intoxicated with the mandolin playing but I love this fiddle player!

  • but still....ricky aint too shabby on that mandolin. HA!

  • I am too biased to be able to give an objective reply. Mandolins tickle my insides too much. lol

  • It amazes me that with all that talent around Ricky, hes still the star of the show.Hes the least talented of the bunch

  • he is a LEGEND

  • I love this song. I also love bluegrass

  • Hallelujah, we are going to be going very soon...very true, Ricky!

  • just seen them 2 days ago at mt hope church these guys rip!!!!

  • I saw them there, too - I thought the sound was poor - Ricky looked *terrible* and there was just about zero ad-lib - all in all, pretty poor. Andy and Paul were the highlights - could have done without Super-Puge Ricky - he seriously needs a diet or a heart-attack and diabetes will be his undoing.

  • So ready!!

  • Thank you for this video!! I love Blue Grass and the Lord!! Ricky is awesome..Blessed!! How Happy is this song!! Ricky is awesome, the Lords messenger!!

  • Amen, I agree completely

  • I love Ricky Skaggs. Alot of people say I sound just like him. I play several instruments but he can sure play circles around me on the guitar. Marvin Ward-Nashville TN.

  • wow its great .iam english but from irish people .i love folk music

  • I am having trouble replying (3rd attempt).

The roots to this music is in the lowlands of Scotland. The Scots-Irish (Scots that settled in Ulster) then migrated to America in 1760s - just in time to rise up against the UK; bypassed the established towns and settled directly in the Appalachians. This is not folk music to us, it is our music.

I am glad you like it.

  • @RiaKentucky YES!! My family came over then as well, to the mountains of what is now West Virginia (it was all Virginia at the time). It is our music and I am very proud of it!

  • Mandolin, Guitar and he's also a fantastic fiddle player

  • a Mandolin

  • a mandolin
