I had a good and bad experience all in one day. The first was a tourist who thought I beautiful and took my picture and then I got on the subway and some white american men made a comment like they thought I was a terrorist. smh LOL
I had a 2 yr. old start crying and saying ma ma. I felt really bad, there weren't any men around so I put my nikab down for a min. just to show the kid there was nothing to be afraid of and then he thought i was playing pikaboo. lol.
mash'Allah, Sister! just found you & want to say how proud I am of you! I applaud your courage & iman. I'm a revert considering niqab & terrified at the same time. You're an inspiration to me, so jazak Allah khayr!
Depends on where you live sis but I wore it in Seattle once and it was OK. No one spoke to me but my sisters were saying I got a bunch of stares. I dont really notice though. I grew up in a small town where even the Hijab was alien so I carried the same attitude with the niqab. I just didnt notice or care to notice others reaction unless its in your face sort of thing. Niqab is amazing though. I got backlash from everyone(community, family strangers) but its addictive...you cant let it go. :D
I'm an American muslima living in Egypt and I'm so blessed that when I put on the Niqab all I got was "Masha Allah" and all good comments. You are incredibly brave to wear Niqab in the West, I'm asumming you live in the West. I didnt have to go through all the stares and comments, but if I did wear it in Fallon, Nevada where my parents live, I would probably get shot.
Assalam alaikom sis, I had somewhat the same experience as you did lol! I remember walking past this girl about 2-3 years old. She was with her mom at a shop who was busy looking at clothes and I stopped a little further away with my friend. She just stared at me, her mouth slightly agape lol and when her mom called her, she walked straight but her eyes remained on me lol. I had to burst out laughing there and then because it's just so hilarious having kids stare at like that.
asalaamu'alikum sister I am not a sister my self but I know what it is like to go to eh mexican market in sunnah clothing thye talk so much ISH my mom cussed one guy out when I was with her I have had people tell me go gay or go home well I was 3 blocks away from home I thought well I will walk home before I take it up the @ LMAO :D
asalamu alaikum soster!! I just slid onto your video, nice job!! I do not wear niqabs all the time, just wore them when it was very cold outside but took it off inside. I have had a couple bad reactions to my hijab but I just changed the subject of conversation. I think your choice of orange and blue is neat. :-)
She then says i will not move the bus until iam finish speaking to you i was like well iam done talking to you, she was well i aint done with you so i went up to her and i said to her say a next word to me and will knock you out and you will see who is a ninja lol she start up that bus asap. i calm down after i thought this s not from islam and walked off alhamdulilaah the best muslim are the 1 with the best charactor. my mom is also a convert and is not very keen on the niqaab. my dad HATES it
Sis the best thing to do is to speak to them polite because if you rude they will how look at how rude the muslims are. i tend to get alot of problem in summer because i wear full black jilbaad, gloves cover my eyes eveything. my worst experience was when i was waiting for the bus and thedriver refused to let me on the bus when she did she gave me a long talk on 'its dark and she could'nt see me and that she could have knocked me down with the bus' i told her thats crap and walked of.
the first first time i started to wear niqaab i got laughed at , i was also called batman, ninjah in summer i am often asked if iam hot, and the list goes the other day i was on the bus and little girl said mommy their is a monster lol. Alhamdulilaah i explained to her and her mom that i wasnt a monster
