  • I used to have 2x Asus striker II formula's and 1x XFX 780i .........and they both died on me!!

  • maybe he rma the xfx 780i and this was the replacement.

  • lol - yeah - I agree about the Strikers being complete CRAP - My father and I have had 19 motherboards in just under 3 years - 2 Striker Extremes, 3 retailer replacements each, 4 RMA's to Asus Each. Asus swapped them for Striker II Formulas - mine died Oct 09 - replacement = DoA.. Fathers one died Jan 2010 - RMA'd both - fecking JOKE - I'm p*ssed off to the back teeth with Asus.

  • This is probly the Top of the line X58 mobo you can buy. Half the price of Evga Clasified

  • errr this is P45

  • I have 2 ASUS boards, one is a mid range P5KPL-AM....Northbridge temp: 52'C

    The other is a P5Q, NB: 58'C

    CRAZY.

    My ECS P965 runs cooler

  • i need some help

    i got the same motherboard

    works great

i got the e8400 but it seems to underclock it to 2.67

should i update bios or something

    help:(

  • omg dude buildin the thing woulda shown u buildin it the titles crap..

  • is this mb good for overclocking

    more so intel e8400

  • No. Just no.

  • gigabyte is an very good manufacturer just like MSI!

    *Asus is SHIT, Most Problems/incompatibility!!!!!!

  • have a msi motherboard on my computer it works really great :D yea i had asus first on it i had so much problems so when i changed motherboard to msi everything went perfect

  • <3 MSI, Gigabyte is okay, but theres some thigs i dont like about them :S

wouldnt touch Asus with a 40 foot pole

  • i rekon did a custome build for my friend and he wanted that mobo failed withing 2 months i was soo embarrsted

  • mmh :\ don't think so...

  • The colours are to make it easier to put together/

  • tooooo many colors WAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

    lol get over it

  • great motherboard i will got mine next week ; if god willing :)

  • maxishines such a whinny bitch in this video lol

  • hmm my problem is i can´t deside between ati and nvidia... is there a card from ati which is as good as the gtx 295? and does a ati work with an intel i7? now i have a 9800gtx+ but i will have more performence :D

  • i am running a 4870x2 with an i7-920 it runs perfectly, as for the ati over nvidia arguement if u want price/performace go ati if you want to spend double the price for about 5-10 fps more go nvidia. the 4870 x2 doesnt perform aswell as the gtx 295 but the difference isnt noticable unless you physically have a fps counter i would suggest the 4870x2

  • if u wanna play crisis on everything high use ATi if you want better quality and x2 less price.

if you want higher performance and lower quality use nvidia for like 1-5 fps boost

  • get the 4870x2 from ati

  • wow..it's like almost the same as my p5q-e...just the water cooling

  • asus p45 rocks!

  • ...The Fall Of Maxishine...I comment a while ago on this...but seriously if you didnt like it you shouldnt have bought it! Hope to see him in his prime again with new gpu releases!

  • man, my computer sucks its a 2002 computer, it doesnt have all the fancy stuff like this if only i had the money..

  • Sell yourself! ;)

  • Well, considering that he prolly has bought it himself, and that he has had other board of that nature and knows the packaging that comes with it...............

  • Just the way he handles things taking it out of the box is really aggravating. He basically tosses everything out without giving it a second look and he was already complaining about the look of the board before he even got it out of the packaging. Does he not even look at this stuff before he buys it? You are way too critical maxishine and really spoiled.

  • when he first opens it you can see it is not packaged correctly. This is probably because he has already opened it and so is not jumping to conclusions about the quality of the board. And he probably has a really well paid job, and so he's allowed to spoil himself

  • I swear this guy upgrades to new shit every day

  • He allso must enjoy reformatting, hahahaha

  • dude where did you get all that money from!

  • he mugs old ladys lol

  • he is selling ponies^^

  • maxishine do you give me your id ? plz :)

  • what did you do with your 8800's?

  • he sold them

  • if u are pissed with the motherboard why did you choose it why not something as good that fits u perfectly?

  • i got this board its very nice and i like it alot with a q6600 4gb dominator ram and a 4870 and 4870x2 YAY

  • l0ol p45 >_> crossfire ? are you joking mate ? you must be joking never hurd of x38 or x48 yes / ?

  • P45 runs PCIe2.0, which has double the bandwidth of PCIe1.1. In other words, its an equivilant of having PCIex32 v1.1.

So when running it in crossfire, you have x8-x8 running with double the bandwidth. Or, x16-x16.

So you're not running into any bandwidth barriers.

P45 is a fairly decent budget chipset if you want to crossfire.

  • X38/48 crossfire performance is much better than P45 crossfire. check reviews online

  • I know that. I never said P45 was better. I was just stating that P45 'isn't bad' at crossfire should you need it

  • not really... not enough to justify the price difference... 10-12% at the most... and your looking at 200-300 for a x48 board and 100-150 for p45 board... i have an asus p5q deluxe with 2 asus 4870 1 gigs with an E8400 at 3.9Ghz and it scales cf EXTREMELY WELL....

  • ddr-2 ram or ddr-3??? and can it take any ram

  • lol

  • It's not out yet...

  • out now :D

  • Lol, are they?

  • just so you non-forumites know, he sent this back ages ago.

  • yep a long time ago

  • What forum is this?

  • the one on his website.

  • They way he talks about this board he makes it sound crap :(

  • X38 and X48's are better for crossfire, these boards are just silly.

  • Maybe be got P45 because he's holding his money for X58 ;)

  • dude

why did u bought that mobo?

    get a rampage extreme ix48

seems that money for you is not a problem

  • who care of the color..

  • Why why why did you buy a P45? and Why Gigabyte?

    ASUS RAPAGE is THE SHiT!!!

  • the colours make the mobo look cheap, i got one and i ended up taking all of my fans with leds off just so i dont get bugged... why cant the make it slick black like the asus mobos

  • Its gigabyte are not cheap but i do agree that it makes it look cheap.

  • ASUS High end mobo's look try hard cheap and nasty, Gigabyte mobo's look professional

  • how many computers do you hAve?, you upgrade all the time your pc, damm dude, your credit card is infinite XD

  • LOL CFx and P45^^ are x38 is Fast on CFx Omg noob

  • I would say X48...

  • hey maxishine you are a big nvidia fanboy, now what happen to you ? Finally you see ATi is better than nvidia ? haha dude !

  • are this mobo support sli???

    or just crossfire....

  • Colors is perfect and I will buy the same!

    its Extreme good motherboard!

the p45 Extreme is Extreeeeme belive me!

The colors is fucked up i know, but anyway I dont care!

  • hahaha doesn't look like you enjoyed that too much...

  • u have 2 much money lol

  • But hes not very rich. He said so himeself.

  • lung cancer excessive smoking he overclocked his heart too much

  • Who don't alot of people like Gigabyte motherboards?

  • cause they are so much colors on them, looks crappy

  • are you serious just cause of the colors? well thats stupid i love colors there awesome!

  • how did ur 780i die?

  • Heart faliure

  • did maxishine die?

  • LOL, no dude.

  • Lovely pretty colours on this box.

    Definitely something from Gigabyte :P

  • I know ay, P45 only supports half the speed in crossfire

  • You're probably going to use two 4870 X2's on this system, aren't you, Maxishine?

  • No, 4870 is SHIT AHAHHAHAHAH

  • No, the Drivers simply are.

In Crysis, I guess you could call the 4870's shit, but the pure hardware isn't. Learn your facts, dumbass.

  • it outperforms the x260 for a price a tad higher then an 8800gts.... the 4850 even beats the 8800gts and thats only 140 euro's

  • so....where is it? the 4870x2's are out

  • im surprised you went with a P45 chipset for a CF build...not afraid of the 10% bottleneck i presume? not that i don't mind. i have a p45 myself and i love that you're testing the same chipset as me xD

  • Thought he would of had the since to get a ASUS one rather then the carp Gigabyte rubbish.

Me personally will never touch Gigabyte ever again.

They run like crap burn out very easy and like he says its got stuff no one needs and they feel flimsy

  • maxishine doesnt look like an ati guy to me

  • what happened to your striker? lol

  • You should've gotten the Asus Rampage Extreme. You're one of the few who can afford it and that motherboard is probably the best card on the market. Would've gotten it instead of the Rampage Formula I now own if it weren't for the fact that it's DDR3.

  • well rampage extreme = intel so i guess ddr3 on high speeds will help me hit 4GHz++ easly i mean i cant w8 to see how this beast runs

  • Depending on the processor that shouldn't be too difficult on a ddr2 board but from the looks of it the Rampage Extreme is by far the best OC mobo on the market. They reached 700 mhz FSB stable with an E8400.

  • i know i always trusted ASUS on my builds 590 sli 650sli 750sli... i dont need 790 or other shit lol im using the p5n-d sli with different southbridge and the fan on the northbridge its pretty cool yeah i know its shouldnt be difficult 4ghz on ddr2 but im talking about dry ice overclocking etc. 5GHz++

  • Yeah in that case it's probably best to go all out. Don't think there's a better board for that than the Rampage Extreme.

  • that pci-e layout is a joke look how close the bottom two are spaced.

  • its 250.

  • Euros, Pounds, Dollars??

  • dollars. :P

  • lol yeah it seems he just dont like htis mobo loll...

  • omg why not ASUS??

  • why use a P45 use x38 or x48 u get 2x16 instead of 2x8

  • Should have gone X38 or X48 for crossfire.

  • you don't buy asus anymore?

  • Now come on... IEEE Firewire ports are way faster then USB 2.0. But then again... Only macs really use them lol

  • lol i dont think he likes the mobo

  • what ever happened to you building a crossfire computer? ... you also said that the benchmark of the 4870 would be a total of 4 videos you only did 3...

  • His review isn't resourceful compared to those done by tigerdirect.

  • why did the 780 die? how?

  • Knowing maxi because he ran his CPU at 2v ;)

  • It didn't die.

    This maxishine is a salesman.

So he has the opprtunity to play with all these hardwares.

And he's a nvidia fanboi too.

He brought this mobo with dual 8x pci.e lanes to destroy the 4870x2 on youtube.

Just like he destroyed the 4870 by comparing it to 2 9800gtx's in sli and 20% overclocked 280/9800gx2.

Check some clean benchmarks where you can see the clocks and the settings.

    watch his prev. vid.

"9800gx2 vs 280gtx",and his later vids then compare the rsults.

  • Did you start to lose your voice towards the end? Your voice started sounding raspy.

  • does this mean you will be giving away your nvidia cards??

  • u could have 3 4870s

crossfire x alows mix and match

  • actaully the p45 extreme has all x16 slots i beleive...

  • when are you going to upload the next build?!!@!@!1 HURRY UP MAXISHINE!

  • And dude you need the Intel DX48, if you have the motherboard you have, the 2 cards will only be using PCI-E x8, and it'll be a waste of money. Get the Intel DX48, and it'll use two PCI-E x16 slots.

  • the new p45's offer both pci-e slots working at 16x bandwidth no problem. the x48 (big brother) just has some extra's such as better raid capabilities.

  • the p45 offers one 16x and one 8x ... i have one that is why i answered :P i have asus p5q pro...

only x48(and x38?) offer x16 on both slots and of course soon the x58 should offer.

  • x38 is enough already XD

  • Get part 2 up soon maxishine

  • wonder how many pc's maxishine had

  • getting the radeon 4870 x2 that about to come out??

  • mid august.

  • all about my DEll E521

  • hope he does build on an x38 or x48. letting himself down on performance on that board.

  • He's going to buy a x48 guys, don't worry.

  • Is the Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 better then this board? Because it's power efficient and I might buy this if it's better then what you reviewed.

  • For real...maxishine took a Big L on this one...kinda whining about everything....

  • Lolol, indeed. He's even bitching about how they boxed it.

  • well someone is a nvidia fanboy aye... oh well cant take it away from ati for havin the best price/performance =]

  • So 2x GTX 9800+ sli which is cheaper than 4870x2 does not win Value and performance ROFL!!!!!!

Lol red army, good luck with the 8 billion loss.

  • you're an idiot

  • Hey maxishine, quick question:

Since you're using top-of-the-line parts, you have to replace continuously. So... what happens to your old parts?

  • he sells them

  • That layout really sucks. The x8 is on its own and the x16 are close together, then all those ports around them... I feel sorry for you. :(

  • thats a foolproof thing ,he can't crossfire unless he uses both x8 slots,If they made them close to the x16,a noob like you would try to use the x16 with x8.Research can be your friend too.

  • I wouldn't have done it but only because I would've avoided the board. The performance would be slightly better on a different board, but not drastic. 4870 doesn't bottleneck in PCIe 1.1 x16 slots, but 4870x2 probably will I'm guessing.

  • which is still a abit slower than using x48 chipset ,I have the asus maximus II (p45 mobo)and a sapphire 4870 but I don't intened to crossfire it for that same reason

  • Wow he is going to crossfire on a p45,are you a noob maxishine ?don't you know that the x16 slot becomes x8 when you crossfire it? you should have bought an x38/x48 mobo ,it would have been alot faster in cf configuration

  • Did you know that PCIe 2.0 has double the bandwidth of a PCIe 1.1 slot? Meaning 2.0 x8 is the same as 1.1 x16. Research is your friend.

  • On my HD 4850 box, it says that you can use up to Quad CrossFire with it, is this true?

  • I agree im well chuffed with my X48 rampage..plus even if u are going for a p45 why oh why choose gigaybte...still love ur othe vids tho :P

  • How did ur motherboard die?

  • Lol, he sounds rather pissed tbh... Well, gl with the MB anyways man

  • i bet he'll get tht lian li p80r

  • what kind of case you are planing to use?

  • Dont 2 4870's run in crossfire not crossfireX?

  • It's just what ATI calls it now. But ya XfireX is for different GPUs.

  • LOL u dont sound too happy about the gigabyte mobo maxishine

  • You dont sound very optimistic, bios on the ATI side of things? lol.

Seroiusly tho who cares about the colours really?

  • is it just me, or are there ads in Maxishines videos now? maybe my pop-up blocker is disabled for some reason..

  • This is just my opinion. Gygabyte blows. I have seen three fail after a few months and two doa's in the last year on friends rigs. ASUS is the only brand I'll ever buy. And even if it dictates what I can do with the system such as proc and nb, so be it. MOBO is THE MOST IMPORTANT component in a system. It looks okay, hope you have good luck with it.

  • My store has good luck with Gigabyte and when we do have a problem they get back to us RIGHT AWAY unlike ASUS. ASUS tech support is a joke one of my customers called saying his ASUS 8800GT wasn't allowing him to run the resolution he wanted and they said "send it back" meanwhile it was just Windows hiding the resolution it thought his monitor couldn't handle. HA Asus blows IMHO.

  • well google is a better tech support then any company.

  • lol i agree with that 100% asus are useless when it comes to support and there uk site is so slow im moving back over to msi. :-)

  • well when using crossfire on the p45 both pci-e slots work at 8k while on the x48 the pci-e slots work at 16x ... that's the main difference .. the motherboards that do 16x/16x crossfire are the x38 and x48

  • yeah Toms did a comparison running Crossfire on a P45 VS an X48 and saw about a %7 performance increase on the X48 IIRC.

  • well it depends on the game you can see a difference in performance between 5-15%

  • Recheck specs the p45 has to do a 8x 8x in crossfire where the x48 can do 16x 16x not counting how much more stable the x48 is in over clocking. I had a longer comment typed up with links and stuff but it would not post cause of the links, so go check on new egg or check out 3dgamema; he has a video on here about it too i think. Just saying if he wants more speed the x48 was the smarter choice.

  • Bad choice in mother board i would have went with a intel x48

  • the size of the barbs on the block wont matter the block can only handle so much flow through it, it just gets bottle-necked in the block. Basically larger barbs means nothing.

  • also why didn't you go with the dfi x48 motherboard :D

  • not sure about you guys, i'd rather have gigabytes colors than my evga 790i black and green which I hate.

  • Maxishine just tell me how it is with the 4870 x2 :P mabey it'll be better then GTX280, it probably is :\, but anyway we'll see when it comes out, but i dont care im not a fan boy :D
