  • Miguel, would you like to give the world premier of my Symphonic Variations After a Theme of Cesar Franck for piano & orchestra? Please listen here on YT and let me know.

  • Great performance. I especially like how you treated the "melody" from m. 55 to m. 64. I think you can do even more rubato before climaxes too, to really bring them out.

  • Nice ! .... Respect

  • i think u rush it. you could slow down, its a bit messy and the melodies can be brought out and expressed more. overall verry good

  • It's a lil' messy in the middle...and I think maybe less pedals...and the audio quality is bad so it cannot do justice to your playing...Anyway NICE...

  • beautiful!very good sound!i play the same etude on youtube!write diego benocci to look it!(leave a comment)!

  • As a fellow pianist with conservatory training, I feel that your tempo was too fast for your technical ability, and you rushed over many of the melodic phrases. I would have loved this had you taken more time to bring out the melodies.

  • You can't lose sight of the fact that it is an etude -- not necessarily meant for melodic and emotional complexity (but obviously Chopin's etudes are more than worthy). Indeed, in a Chopin etude there is always potential, but it's an etude. He NAILS it without the melodramatics. And the listener is left with the impression that we're going paintballing later instead of the BOTM Club with a box of tissues. And it's okay. There are many levels of artistry and he's at his. *****

  • Chopin Etudes are Etudes but also MUCH much more than just Etudes- they are full of passion and ALL of them have beautiful melodies to bring out. Etudes such as Czerny are more for exercises and aren't meant for "melodic complexity" as you put it, but Chopin Etudes are so amazing because they are all unique works with great technical difficulties and are VERY emotional and full of passion - to not bring that out is a shame and does not make the most out of these beautiful works.

  • Honestly,

    I thought that was fantastic.

  • I think Chopin was really pissed off when he wrote this.

  • Amazing technique, but a little more feeling

    and it would be great.

  • Your playing is just perfect!I watched your performance accidently~:) you have the good technique and great talent~You are rally a gift of music~My name is Jessica~You can search below this name!or...Chin shan Chang!~~~nice to meet you~keep the good work!~Greeting for you~~~Jessica~~~

  • Thank you very much! We try to make beautiful music, and always practice and hope that we can play better the next time ;)

  • Wheres the shape in the phrases?

  • I just have to express my disagreement with "koreanjeenyus", he claims you are not "showing the melodic voice of this piece". I think, if anything that is where you flourish most in this performance. The melody is clearly heard!

  • great player nicely filmed.Thanks

  • Good performance, but the speed was slightly too fast. It was intereststing how you used the pedal, very nice.

  • pretty damn fast, it still seemed ok overall but shouldn't be any faster.

still a few mistouches here and there - but the pedal blurs it enough so the common audiences probably won't notice.

could use a little more contrast to have some "momentum buildups" in some phrases.

still, technically sound and again, fast. good job!

  • too much pedal

  • You should study the recording of this etude by Claudio Arrau. He he is very careful to stay heavily in tempo, and to play all the many accents that Chopin wrote. Neglecting those accents, and rushing in a number of places, are the main weaknesses of your interpretation.

  • you did a very good job. I wish I new how to play it. It is loud at parts but other than that it was amazing

  • You play the accents in the bass well, but you totally neglect the accents at the top. As a consequence, nothing counterbalances the bass notes, which distorts the rhythmic foundation of the piece.

  • I think it's too fast. And no voice variation.

  • it's very loud

  • You are not showing the melodic voice of this piece.

  • monumental!! again

  • wow

  • I think you played this Etude well. Although it is called the Ocean etude, that does not go well at the end with the banging bass E. It's a revolutionary etude instead; the E's are bells. A good playing will increase the drama as the bass melody notes build to one climax after another. I think you brought it out well. It is not an etude taht can be played softly in places, except maybe for the starting G chord at the start of the buildup in the middle of the piece.

  • if you think you play it well you're wrong. difficult to judge sound quality on a video rec, but it's all loud and with too many unclear and dirty moments

  • Truly like a furious ocean. Love it

  • I disagree with the people saying that it was too fast. Your interpretation sounded more like an Ocean than some other performances did. You got a bit sloppy coming down from some of the Arpeggios at the end. our pedaling was great. In some of the slow sections, I change the mood with the Una Corda and make it a bit softer, but it might just be my piano. I can never tell how the acoustics are from a camera.I am 15 and just finished this peice, and you performed it wonderfully.

  • i think that you have done a beautiful job on this piece. I'm currently learning this lovely piece myself. I think that i must agree with many of the other people on the sight that it seemed to perpetually fast. More time to let the harmonies hit you would be nice. Great Work!

  • Phenomenal!! I have a couple suggestions- take them, or leave them. First, expressiveness should never take a backseat to speed- I wanted to hear more "tension and release" but couldn't because it was so constantly fast. I also think the piece could use more dynamic contrast... you can voice the melody without hammering the keys. Go for feeling, not showmanship. You're brilliant, by the way... amazing! :-)

  • This is just amazing really amazing

  • truly amazing

  • can you email me tips on how to learn this?

im 14 and i really want to learn it but its death...

how long did it take you to learn it?

email me about everything on this song!!

  • It's too bad that the quality of the recording is not optimal. It makes the bass sound sloppy and makes it difficult to actually hear what you're playing in the bass section. Perhaps you could try to make a new recording of this piece, with a better sound quality. I would defintely like to hear that, because I think this was superb, shame about the sound quality though.

  • I'm very impressed by your rendition of this etude. I'm currently studying on several works of Chopin, but didn't have the courage yet to try this etude.

  • Stay closer to the keys!

  • exellent.very nice

  • How old are you Miguel? You're very talent!

    Nice Job Man

  • I'm 28, been playing all my life...

  • I hear a lot of mistakes...

  • Is this etude harder than Chopin's Scherzo No. 2?

  • It's more physically demanding, because you have the same movement throughout, but the scherzo is longer, and more varied and complex musically. I would personally start with the etude, then learn the scherzo...

  • WOOOOW!
