Howzit Uncle, Can you post the chords? The vamp seems to be D7-G7-C, but I can't tell what the rest are since I'm still new to the uke. This is one of my favorite hawaiian falsetto songs- Mahalo nui for posting it on youtube!
I have never been to the Big Island and this summer was to be our first visit, but the economy is putting a kink in our plans. I think the best Hawaiian music --very deep, very Hawaiian--comes from the Big Island.
Nice song and nice falsetto. Very nice. Think I'll try to do an instrumental version of this sometime. Although the poetry is the best part of the song IMHO.
It's also a song that requires considerable care in matching the lyrics to the beat and you have done an admirable job of artfully singing this song and preserving the clear pronunciation through all the twists and turns of the melody and beat. Bottom line: nahenahe !
