The Japanese have a term they use. Otaku. the original meaning was that someone was really focused on something to the point of ignoring everything else? [i think]... the current meaning now, is someone who is really into anime.

oh, i didnt realise by nerd you meant someone really smart. different people use it in different ways for some reason. personally i use nerd to mean someone who spends alot of time on the computer, like myself

I think the term you might have been looking for is "geek", because nerds are pro and make money. Whereas geeks are like the types that freak out about a new pokemon game or that a new spiderman movie is coming out. You know what I mean?

Everybody has something they like a lot. You just like pokemon a lot but that doesn't make you a nerd. Just don't let pokemon take over your life. Balance it out with sports, jobs, friends and other activities.
