  • thumbs up if you can wake up in bed alone tomorrow on monday gmt and praise the lord that there was a something called a little feat and you're not richard burton or raef fiennes or hugh grant or peter o'toole or alan (master)bates, or glenda in women in love, or the other hot one who no on remembers although glenda was steaming!!

  • Had a back stage pass to one of there shows when they were in Seattle. That live show like all the LP's are hot, tight and very much top shelf. One of my favorite bands.

  • Really cloudy in the audience-must be smog.

  • Sweet! What a band of all-stars, containing one of the most underrated bass players going.

  • A third of a century on, sounds like it was performed this afternoon. Out-fuckin-standing.

  • the best of the best!!

  • By Far The most outstanding voice in ROCK! I Miss lowell everyday!waiting for columbus is absolutely, one of THE BEST live Lp's ever! I just picked up the cd!!!!!

Had to give the vinyl a break!

  • @SuperScotch23 Concur!! That's it!

  • @msoldhippie70

Totally man! Lowell George is amazing! I've got Waiting for Columbus on vinyl (found at a flea market for $1) and it plays great and is easily the best album I own.

  • saw these guys in 1976 in Milwaukee. Best album is Waiting for Columbus!

Buy that album and you're in heaven. Lowell George has 2 albums out of his own before he left us. I have one, "Thanks I'll Eat it Here". Try it !

  • i'd have to say I've watched/listened to this video 50 times, and I have a feeling this won't be the last one

  • need a studio version on here...

  • The Day the music Died for me was the day Lowell George left the planet... what a creative genius that guy was. Miss you Lowell!

  • shit funky amazing

  • Sweet.

  • Anybody else think Paul Barerre looks like a muppet at 2:16? That set me to laughin'. Great track otherwise.

  • 最強のリトル・フィート"AllThatYouDream"バレルが刻み、ローエルのスライドが翔び、要リッチーのドラムがズッシリ、ペインが味付け~ひれ伏す!

  • Can't think of a bar that Feat played, that sounded like it was lifted from anyone else!

EVERYONE in the band created an edge. Utterly timeless.

  • Senior year of high school! "Live at Rockpalast Germany 1977" Little Feat dream"

  • Outstanding. Just gets better with every listen.

  • @Chigleybus

    absolutely

  • The tightest groove anywhere. Brilliant. Saw the boys on a Warners triple bill in Pasadena, 1970s, with Ry Cooder and Captain Beefheart. Oh, for a time machine!

  • リトル・フィート"ALL THAT YOU DREAM"(ライヴ)、ローウェル・ジョージのスライドは1発音で天空を翔る、そしてリッチー・ヘイワードの要ドラミング!

  • @blackandtanful was on Wolfgang's Vault recently, looking at old concert posters. saw one for the Boston Garden in 1976, with Feat opening for The Band. I have not been able to track down another one. Saw the poster on a Prince video; I think it was for "Cream". Posted on a child's bedroom door was LF opening for Sly and the Family Stone! THERE'S your time machine shot!!

  • LITTLE FEAT.....GIANT PENIS.

  • in case you didn't know Lowell used a Sears Craftsman 11/16" long socket as a slide, its how he got that killer sound, must take a real light touch, RIP Lowell

  • 6 people wanting to be pushed off the face of the Earth

  • Gabe Ford on Drums, yes formerlly Richie's Tech (rip richie)

  • thumbs up if you listen this song in last scene of The Soprano's

  • i saw it live - never forget -

    great performance - essen 1977

  • Do you think Paul regrets that beard at this distance? Glorious music

  • iTunes ain't got anything by these guys, wankers . . .

  • Is this performance what they call incomparable, or is it just genius...

  • We only have a few bands nowdays which could even come close to this live performance. In the 70's there were dozens of bands of this calibre.

  • うねりまくる乗り!AllThatYouDream~絵になるスライド・ローウェル~70年代最強アメリカン・バンド

    LITTLE・FEAT

  • Hey Gunslinger, You should see them now. I saw them on Saturday and they flew!

  • @dingoswamphead I'm thinking of seeing them soon, but I can't imagine them having a different drummer. Do you know who sat in that night or is he now considered a member of Little Feat?

  • @JimAdsit - I am ashamed to say I don't know his name, but I believe it is the guy who formerly was Richie's drum tech. I'd say it would be worth a shot.

  • best band for southern funk ever. hands down. ever. love em with Lowell George, so smoooooth

  • Why Lowell's name was nowhere to be found on the Rolling Stone´s 100 Best Singers list (2008) - remains a mystery to me.

  • @taboomtown , because nobody cares what some Rolling Stone writer believes. You know how good he was, that is all that matters!!

  • I want to see Luke do this song Live, I'll pay 10,000 dollars no joke.

  • Maybe next year they will finally be elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!

  • @tillienut Right now, that "honor" holds as much stick as winning an American Music Award. What may have started out as a real attempt to recognize the giants of music has degenerated into a pure political event thanks to Jann Wenner. May he roast (in only a professional sense. Geez, I don't hate the guy) in hell for that.

  • This is one of my favorite bands to run to, along with Sly & FS! It was a fabulous 81 degrees under blue skies here in North Texas and I be JAMMIN!

  • @ajgum2001 I believe the Feat actually opened for the FS on a tour. THAT info, ironically enough, came from a concert poster from a Prince video from a few years ago. On Wolfgang's Vault, they have old posters and ticket stubs. There was one from Boston around 1976, showing Little Feat with The Band. How could that much talent be in one room, much less city?!?!?!

  • BEST SONG OF ALL TIME>..BY THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME> I SAID IT!

  • The Lowell George era Little Feat were one of the greatest live bands to ever play. They were astounding live.

  • 5 peeps ain't got no FEAT!

  • If Rock n Roll has produced a better singer than Lowell George let me know. I know a lot are as good, but none better.

  • @ Rough Boy 1056 This band is from LA. Lowell and Paul are graduates of Hollywood High.

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME........This was my favorite selection of Little Feat......but the song in general........incredible music!!! To think that today when you turn on your radio.....you will most likely never hear this music.....is a crime. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN AND PERFORMED!!!!

  • I've been dooooooown!

great band from along time ago

    RIP Lowell

  • I'm too young (30) too remember them but they still rock

  • How come some people actually dislike this song? I reckon the two-minute intro is some of the finest rock musicianship ever, and the rest of the song is as near to f***ing perfect as makes no difference. What's not to like!! Listen to this every day and it'll sound better every time.

  • I saw Little Feat in Charleston, S.C. They sucked.

I saw them in the 70s in DC. Lowell George was so incredible!!!

  • I love Barrere's funky guitar playing on this song, it just make me smile.

  • When I listen to this I get depressed :( (Sopranos).

  • HAts Offf to piercethevale Little FEat Is ABsolutely UNIQUE....Forward this to all you know and at the end drink and toast to Richie HAYWARD R I P Miss you man Saw you many times Miss you more every day >>>>Dumb ass toads in Roc n Roll

induction. These buffons do not recognize pure talent life LF Doobs and LLobos

  • Indeed, the South did rise again with the like of Little Feat. All you yankees eat your hearts out. It makes you remember: Jazz, the Blues and yes Rock were ALL born in the South, PERIOD. And forget that they say the Heartland of America is Corn-Country, the REAL Heartland of America is overflowing with Cotton and Crawdads!

  • Simon Cowell this is real music

  • @y110124 Yes , indeed !!!!

  • Man, this song has such,...insight. I don't know how to say it, but it's the way the song moves that I refer to, I dig it!

  • Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you............where are we going? There is such a dearth of such from from the gut music getting their deserving exposure that I am glad to know these guys have maintained just enough word of mouth(and ear) that musicians in development stages of their craft have have an idea of what can be done if you stick to your heart,

  • i really love bands like little feet and grateful dead that are at their best when playing live. then we get bands like dave matthews who are awesome on cd and think they are as good as grateful dead and little feet live, i dont think so! but dave matthews is still the man!!

  • Damn, I miss that man. Boy, didn't they just define "in the pocket?"

  • You have to admit Macaroon, even when Lowell wasn't entirely "into it" he's better than almost everyone in his genre - ever

  • I'm not a religious man but this groove machine of a band were sent from above

  • Sorry folks.. Lowell was'nt too into it here you'll love him in some earlier stuff like the guys got posted. R.I.P Mr Hayward

  • at least we got to hear this awesome band, feel bad for those who never did!

  • This band was a jamband before it was even a genre. They define musical integrity, never sold their souls to have song after song on some top 100 list. They are right up in my top-handful of all-time favorite rock bands, much or their music is so timeless...my granddaughter has a namesake in one of their songs.

  • Lowell was the man.

  • This is by far one of the best albums I've ever owned. Damn... just listen to that voice...puts me in a trance. Why are there not more original videos on here ? I can't stand any of the newer ones...the music just isn't the same. It does nothing for me at all while this moves the hell out of me.

  • Awesome!!!

  • RIP Richie Hayward!

  • @dcsween2000 AMEN! To me Richie rates right up there with Herbert Hoover, Mamie Dowd Eisenhower, and Henry Wallace as famous IOWANS! Richie knew his way around a trap set and oh how he could harmonize! Hell Yeah, Richie R.I.P. and give the warmest regards to Lowell when you see him from Little Feat fans everywhere!

  • RIP Richie and Lowell...jammin together again.

  • r ip mr hayward

  • love ya, Richie.

  • RIP Richie

  • Here you have the essential Little Feat THIS Great Band is worth more, way more than the crap that is out there today, I still see them when the come round.

  • watching some Feats videos seeing as though they are playing 20 min from my house tomorrow for free. Seeing Lowell in white overalls, man what good memories of 4 of the best concerts I ever saw!, Miss him and SRV so much!

I'll go anyway, they still play some of these songs

  • Lowell George era Little Feat is the only era that counts.....except Time Loves A Hero. That album was a bore.

  • Yes those are dancing cacti in the background.Truly one of the finest live bands ever.

  • What an awesome live sound. This song just hits the spot every time. Long live Little Feat!

  • Man, it just doesn't get any better than this! What a great performance!

  • @musicbykevinahern You've said it all, this is just a fantastic performance. Wish i'd heard it when I was 10 back in '77.

  • this is just another reason I love this band... if you like country , with a boogie beat, they can't be beat. Like the Dead, their live songs blow away their studio albums ... and their studio albums are great.... ...plus these are good driving tunes

  • This song is amazing!!!

  • or some old Turk, gonna watch a few bits and take the boogie on down the road, fer chrissakes, kids, whose gonna entertain you now iffa you don' take the boogie, oh yeah, no more alcohol for you, into the frikkin' supermarket! Wake t.f.u. and boogie.

  • I heard of these guys back in the 80's from a Ry Cooder album advertisement and I always thought their album covers were kinda cool. So glad I remember them and found this song ! Thanks for posting, I'm off to buy me some Little Feat :D

  • thank you for sharing such a G R E A T ! ! ! video with us. BOY! does this bring back some good memories .

  • classic

    utter class

  • I wonder where Lowell was prior to picking up his guitar

  • @1DShoe He worked for his dad, a furrier, in LA.

  • @vinegaroon1 i meant, why wasn't he onstage

  • @1DShoe The song just before this one was "A Day at The Dog Races", and Lowell absolutely hated that song and refused to be on stage when they played it. So he would go backstage and have some "refreshments" and go back on when they were done.

  • So very grateful to find this tune that has been welling up within me all day as I wrote my latest article published first @ WeAreWideAwake[dot]org:

"Vanunu Returns to Prison and The End of Israel's Nuclear Ambiguity"

As I am living my life and DREAMING of a better World for All of US!

    little sister,

    xoxe

  • I was 17 in Australia when someone got me into Little Feat, loved them straight up!! Harboured dreams of seeing them live....then George left the scene. At that time I was dealing with stuff and it seemed the world had gone crazy.... to know I would never hear them again touched my soul deeply..such sadness....

  • saw these guys open for van morrison i believe it was 1976 blew me away

  • Cleanest slide player I ever saw!!Asbury Park NJ 1976 a classic show. Again, 3 plus hours!!!!

  • Lowell also "produced" the Grateful Dead album, Shakedown Street.

Little Feat should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

  • @wolverine84

    ABSOLUTELY, wolverine85!!!

  • Lowell George and Little Feat rocked the world long before that annoying Dave Matthews.

  • Amazing live band.

  • I commented recently that M. Knopfler and S. Landreth had the best live intro I had heard in years, ( and believe me it's damofino good) but after listening to this jam, is it too late to maybe change my mind?!?! I almost forgot how well The Feats could cook! After a 2 minute funky intro from HELL, these bad boys just tore it up! What a band! You others who had the opportunity to catch 'em live know they ruled in the seventies, just the best live Band going! YT &nutbrook thks! Lowell RIP&ROS!!!!

  • where can i get the version used on the sopranos finale

  • Do not be a knob, I saw the original band at the rainbow Finsbury Park in 77 end of argument they were the best live act ever

  • Without the funk of Little Feat there never would have been a band like the Red Hot Chili Peppers...and they can only hope to be as funky as 'Feats some day.

  • Music for Columbus

  • The title of their live double set is "Waiting For Columbus".

  • Imagine the kind of music Lowell George would have been making these past 30 years if he hadn't erased himself.

  • I hear you!! So many greats lost along the way....... :(

  • The Gunslinger said it all

  • Lowell is feeling it!!

  • This truly was a band powerful enough to turn goat piss to gasoline. So tight, so talented, so into the music just for the music. I fear we will never see the like of them again. That's the shame of it. Many may try but it will fall short of Little Feat at their finest. Sad, so sad, maybe some young turk out there will be inspired by Lowell and bring his vision back to life.

  • @TheGunslinger5854

Dude. Loveley sentiments. Thing is - at their 'worst' - they were fucking brilliant... the world shunned their first two albums... gave them rock stardom for a while and then couldn't work out what the fuck they were doing on Waiting for Columbus (they assumed he'd lost "it"

I swear, some people wouldn't get good music even if you drew a picture to the remote control and filled their hard-drive with Beethoven, Hendrix and Owsley Acid.

  • @TheBitterWeed I had a 1974 Dodge "Bluesmobile" black and white with a killer sound system in 1981. The only tape allowed to rest in the player was Waiting For Columbus for 4 years. I am still trying to get some of the licks down right now. The best live album ever recorded by anyone. Musical genius at its best. No matter how many times I listened to it I never heard the first hiccup on any track. Perfection. The only way to determine it was a live show was to listen for the applause. Magic!!!

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Wikipedia says Lowell George later re-recorded his guitar and vocals on "Waiting for Columbus". Also it sounds like there was a lot of tension in the band between Lowell George's boogie and Bill Payne's jazz/rock and the usual songwriters' conflict, but out of it came a stupendously good live album and this song, one of the greatest song intros ever.

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Thanks for your comment that reeled-in throwback memories of the fine and, so far, unmatched analog sound quality of cassettes, along with other analog media, especially records. Indeed, "the only tape allowed to rest in the player" is another unmatched event that many can associate with. In some ways, we're "waiting for Columbus" to bring back Little Feat.

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Little Feat currently tours and they sound FANTASTIC. They have been flying under the radar now for 20 years and still creating amazing live music!! No lowell...but the spirit is still there... RIP richie hayward too.. GO SEE LITTLE FEAT they still make you dance your ass off!!!

  • @TheGunslinger5854 well i'm not a young turk but ummm...... i grew up on this type of music, along with janis and big brother, jimi, the doors. a myriad of classic jams spoon fed to me from the time i was a twinkle. im trying to get my crap together and become the musician i was always meant to be. wish me luck its a long way to the top when you wanna rock and roll

  • I saw then twice in 1 week in '78. F'king awesome!

Lowell you wasted a gift with that heroin shit!

  • Lind Ronstadt made a fortune recording this tune. Lowell was screwing her and gave her permission to use it.

  • Comment removed

  • I only wish the concerts they took tracks from for the Waiting for Columbus album had been videotaped. One of the truly great live albums of all time. Sound quality from the Mobile Fidelity Soundlab recordings rivals almost any digital recordings of live music I have ever heard.

    Just no substitute for talent.

  • See my other posts, there are 2 Little Feat videos from Rainbow Theatre, London 1977 that feature on the Waiting For Columbus Album.

    Enjoy!

  • @nutbrook thanx!

  • It does sound wonderful.

  • How great would it be to have the Waiting for Columbus tracks on video akin to The Band's The Last Waltz.

No question about it, the talent was amazing!

  • that would be AWESOME.

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Unfortunately those tracks for Waiting For Columbus where heavily overdubbed and processed. This video is a better portrayal of what Little Feat sounded like truly live, which is in fact, great as far as I'm concerned.

  • @TheGunslinger5854

I was lucky enough to have lived in the DC area back then, got to follow the Feat but most importantly I was at Lisner Auditorium for one of the greatest live performances by anyone or group ... Little Feat ... which was later part of that best all time recorded album of all time "Waiting For Columbus".

You can still listen to it today, spectacularly recorded, and it feels as fresh and current today as it did then.

Was the same after LG passed, and now Richie is gone.

  • @1rewd1 *Wasn't the same*, sorry.

  • @1rewd1 I was also lucky enough to see them with Lowell twice and three times since he passed. Columbus has to be the all time greatest live album bar NONE!! If Lowell George and the rest of this band don't go to Heaven when they die I hope I have front row seats in Hell to watch them!!!

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Ya, Waiting for Columbus is an amazing album... apparently, tho, lots of overdubbing due to them being so wasted during the actual performances... no offense meant, of course...

  • So true!

  • @TheGunslinger5854

Gotta love the dancing cactus in the back behind the percussion!

  • From the movie soundtrack: "Over The Edge"

  • This is the best-est version live out there!

  • I had the ultimate pleasure to see Little Feat w/ Bonnie Raitt and Emmy Lou Harris at Lisner Auditorium.

  • ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyye yaaaa feat praise

  • I was fortunatate to see little feat at the Rainbow theatre in London in 1977 with the tower of power horn section. The best live concert that I ever went to. Please stop bickering

  • Fdaklxsq? I dont know wghat ur tryin to say but SAVE IT

  • i show lowell the night before he died in dc. love live the sound. miss you.

  • oh man, i just posted this as a chaser on my blog AFTER writing an especially anger inducing other post.

loved the 'god has this on his ipod' comment. i KNOW SHE does!

  • The best song ever written.

God has this on his iPod.

  • I got to see them at Seattle Paramount Theater. John Hall opened the show. It was a great venue for both bands( as theaters often are). My friend threw a joint to Lowell and he picked it up and nodded his thanks while never missing a beat. My kinda guy! I know there are those of you that think "GASP!" as he died young but c'mon; 1 joint of '70's ragweed probably did'nt push him over the abyss.

  • One of the best jams ever laid down!

    The transitions are awesome.

    R.I.P. Lowell George

  • Only Little Feat fans know what "finese jams" are This band is pure from one side of the stage to the other

  • Yeah I saw them on tour with Grateful Dead, all the shows were phenomenal!

  • just saw them last week at the warner in Torrington ,awesome show ,Hot tuna opened for them

  • I saw Feat last night (8-20-09) in Hampton NH and they were HOT and AWESOME! Did not miss a beat. Brougth back lots of memories from my UVM days.

  • Thanks for posting this! : )

AWESOME!!! Sure does bring back memories! All those whe had the opportunity to see this amazing band WITH Lowell George are very lucky individuals!

    We miss you Lowell George!

  • Man, does this bring back memories. I saw them many times in The D.C area ! They were great everytime I saw them, esp. @ Lisner in 77' (??)

    God bless, Lowell

  • Little Feat is like no other Since 69 still at it

  • i saw little feat without lowell, 2nd best thing

  • Call me a sad older fan, but I was lucky enough to see them at the Rainbow theatre in London in 1977, when I was just 17, the best live act that I have ever seen, or ever likely to see, and in those days I saw them all, David Bowie at Wembley being the worst. Little Feat had a very small, but very loyal following in England in those days, and still have

  • Nothing sad or old about it -- these guys were on everyone's list at the time as one of the best live bands in the world -- as this video shows. I only wish I'd experienced them as you had.

  • hi, Thank you for you message, yes I would concede that I was very fortunate to have seen bands like Little Feat particiularly at the Rainbow in London, sadly its gone now, but for sound quality it was amazing, really good

  • these guy sounded so good together, a true band. missed like the dinosaur's!!!

  • my favorite !

  • I used to, when I was younger and more prejudiced hehe, "judge" people...(did I think they were intelligent? did I want to be friends with them?) by whether or not they liked Little Feat!

  • We can be friends :-)

  • feats had a groove un-matched imop, r&b @ it's best RIP Lowell, missing you

  • Are you sure this is 1977? amazing quality for that time frame.

I love little feat, thanks for posting!

  • that was in '77 Sure.

    bands on stage were:

    1.Roger Mc Guinn & Thunderbyrds

    2.Rory Gallagher & Band

    3.Little Feat

That was the first Rockpalast-Night on german TV

  • Yes. 1977. I have a photo I took of him in those overalls I took during during this tour.

  • Well, Stang you just too young baby to groove on this! hahahahaha

  • Probrally so?

I run home & watch, Patridge Family, Speed Racer & Ultra man! & ClubHouse 22.

    Deo Vindice!

  • YEAH, takes me back,...waaaayyy back...I like alot...a thrill for me, have forgotten all about Little Feat...OMG.....

  • Good! Glad you enjoyed it! They were sooooooo Rockin' LOL!

  • Rock Lil Feat you were ahead of your time!

RIP Lowell you are a Blessing to this day!

  • one of my fave bands of all time groove tone melody tone feel oh yes and talent all the things missing from bands today

  • Bill was always gracious and Richie the same. Lowell was kind and generous and what a singer! I'd rank Little Feat with Lynyrd Skynyrd as the best in the US at the time and both met tragedy at about the same time.

At Lowell's tribute concert in LA, Linda Ronstadt, Rosemary Butler and the late Nicolette Larson sang " All That You Dream" and it kicked ass. It's on Hoy Hoy if you're looking for it.

  • I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this totally cooks

  • the whole dvd of this is awesome in the extreme. best band ever? got to be in with a shout. esp in lowell era.
