the OS is BADA 2.0 but I check on my samsung phone only BADA 1.1 ver. are they lying? how can i upgrade to 2.0 or the latest ver?

I have unlocked Orange(France) Wave. OS version is bada 1.0 (S8500BVJK1). Samsung Kies says no firmware update us available for my region(Asia).

Questions are:

1. If I upgrade it to 1.2 flashing with S8500XXJL2 will it still remain unlocked?

2. Will IMEI be changed after the flash?

3. Will it still be recognizable to Kies 2 after flashing?

i have had this phone since june/july 2010 and have never done an update or anything and only just got samsung kies and it says i have the latest one, shouldnt there be a new one?

@Mraashish4008 Make sure your device is in idle mode as explained in the video otherwise it will not talk to your PC

@lithinm1998 - it may be that your device is so recent that the firmware in the phone does not have to be updated - the Windows & Bada OS have in principle nothing to do with each other (there is now a facebook campaign to make the wave siutable for Android - good idea). Firmware updates come out about once a month. It may be better to wait until the next one. Sorry - can't help you any further

@dvdml >> with the upgrades they are tweeking up the functionality and fixing the many bugs in the device system. I've decided not to use the Wave. I've sent it back - too many bugs and too few apps (app developers are not adding anything based on the Bada OS) so all the thousands of promised apps just aint there!

@snurk11 - exactly the same thing happened to me. But my device eventually crashed >> I de-installed and re-installed kies and then put the device into recovery mode - my device was then "restored" with the correct update. Its difficult for me to comment on the current firmware version - they vary according to geographic region and language but the version you mention (S8500XXJH3/S8500XENJH2) is exactly the same as I am using. Good luck!!

I want to do a firmware update, but I have windows 7 64, did samsung fix the software? Does it work now? I dont want to screw my phone up, I bought it just a few days ago.

@sexDrugsNrockNroll1 >> Samsung have fixed the Windows 7 64bit problem and it does work. It was however far from stable in my case. After re-intalling kies it eventually worked. But you have to follow the procedure to the letter otherwise you could end up going round in circles for days like I did. I would give it a go - you can also contact the helpdesk at Samsung UK - I found them very willing and helpful.

@Dutchvlog ok I tried it, first of all, kies didnt recognize my phone. Only if I turn the phone off then plug it in my pc and then turn it on again it works...so thats a wierd thing to begin with. But as I then tried to update my firmware it said that there was no new one availiable. I have JF1 and I doubt that this is the newest!

I think I ll just leave the phone as it is for now, because it works good. And the apps which say they need an update work also.

@sexDrugsNrockNroll1 ok i have the same problem with you..and i got it now...let me help you but be patient to the process as i did...well i tried first usb debugging....then try internet pc....then media player..then mass storage...then the last samsung kies...each of this should be unplug your usb cable and set. after set connect cable again...

Im in the UK with Virgin and kies says that "The Devices version cannot be updated" it is at S8500XXJF1/S8500XEUJEF is this the latest version for the uk? becuase i want the facebook notifications in the notification bar.

@rupakdey No icon on desktop? Go to> start button (lower left corner) at the bottom go to file view / scroll down to Samsung > click folder open > click kies > click on keis icon. Otherwise its in > C >program files(x86) samsung > kies / scroll down to and click on icon. If you can't find the icon the software is not installed correctly. Success
