  • how can you not love this song? ...... it's just an amazing piece of artistry ........ wish they would have came out with some more music before kelly passed away ..... just like the beatles ..... we get cheated out of fantastic music that we'll never get to hear!

  • Blimey!!! that really brought the house down-demolition squad-Watch out.

  • Was Roy Rogers in this, too? The liners said he was!

  • Anyone who doesn't like ELO is an idiot.

  • Kelly Rocked, RIP

  • I'd like to dedicate this song to the memory of my best pal Nigel Fisher...taken far too young...may he rest in peace...love you Nige...

  • The piano?this song is so cool,I love it.I just think the piano is part of the over all feel and the feel is perfect I love ELO the best of the 70s and 80s prog/pop.bugger the piano

  • What, NO sunglasses Jeff ??????????

  • Ted Nugent would have LOVED that! Especially the ending! My Step-father drove a bus in NY city nearly 45 yrs ago. One day this black couple(race is irrellevent, bare with me...) climbed on the bus in cliche cowboy costumes complete with rhinestones(probably for a party..). After a stunned prolonged silence, some guy at the back of the bus called out, "Howdy, Tex! Where's your Horse!" The cowpolks cracked up with the rest of the bus. Then theres the gang getting thrown out off by football team...

  • @Velocity9s "Uncle Ted" is pretty cool, so he probably DID love that. :-)

  • The honky-tonk piano bits were played by Melvyn Gale, who was one of the cellists.

  • I wish there was a version of this beautiful song without the dreadful honky-tonk piano in the middle.

  • @mattjreid mmm it s a far west song ..so piano is ok.

  • @mattjreid "Dreaful" piano? Are you tone deaf?

  • @mattjreid "Dreadful" piano? Are you tone deaf?

  • @mattjreid Are you nuts? The piano part is the soul of the song. It's old west. Honky-Tonk is more New Orleans anyway.

  • Why this was not released as a 45 in America was probably because where the lyrics say:--

Ride the range all the day till the first fading light,

be with my western girl round the fire, oh, so bright.

I'd be the Indians friend, let them live to be free,

ridin' into the sunset, I wish I could be.

Americans could never let the Indians be free, the begining of this video shows the contempt that Americans had for the Indian.

  • @slamwell We've come along way, man. Let it go.

  • ELO may well be my all time fave band prog and pop and a hell of a live show.Jeff is a songsmith with a spark of the gods I saw them 7 times

  • I believe one of the great things a song can do is take your mind to a different place and feel what's going on there, complete with colors and smells. This is one that can do it, even without video.

  • J'ai toujours adoré cette chanson depuis sa sortie. C'est bien remasterisé mais il y a des microcoupures à la lecture, quel dommage cela gache tout !

    Stéphan

  • Why aren't they in the Rock and Roll aHall of Fame? Come on fans. e-mail them and demand it!

  • This is my all time fav of theirs!

  • Love this song, it runs a close 2nd to Hold on Tight :) The sound on this video is awesome, got it blasting through my earphones! Woweee!!!! My neighbour is so lucky ;)

  • Rest in peace Kelly!! WE MISS YOU!!!

  • "to share ones talents is the greatest of gifts!"

.. very well said. I echo that, and to be honest, most people who would seek this out are probably ELO fans who have already bought this song - sometimes on a few different releases!

  • That is NOT roy Rogers BTW

  • @rorymacve that's the great Roy Rogers on lairet, btw

  • great :D

  • It's live?

  • This is one of my favorites off their 2 disc set. Thanks for osting it.

  • You can convert this or any youtube video to an mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • @sophistication726

or use FREECODER . it records any song from any web page , an it save it in mp3 format down load it as a toolbar , just click record , done ........

  • even my dear old dad liked this one

  • Kelly is such a natural! Jeffs hat is too small, good thing it's white or it would have blended right into his hair. That awesome hair.... sigh...

  • Bev does not look happy being dressed like that.

  • Looks like they had great fun making that video! Hahaha, Jeff Lynne getting lassood then they go ballistic with toy guns! hahahaha!! =-D

  • This and Elton John's 'Roy Rodgers' were my cowboy nostalgia hits of the 70's. God, that' a long time ago!

  • This is my favorite elo song. It makes me think of my dad.

  • This is one of my FAV songs!

I saw ELO in the early 80s and blooming glad I did.

Seems like yesterday watching this video being played on top of the pops when it was first released, a rare time I can say - I'm glad to be old!

  • Hey, don't forget Roy Wood!

  • I appriciate the remastering and syncing of the lyrics, but did you really need to advertise your website every 30 sec. or so?

  • ITS good..

  • Wow! I never seen this before, Cool!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I found another posting of it 2 years ago & it was dreafully out of sync. I LOVE IT!!

My mom wants to know, is that Roy Rogers?

  • I'd lasso Jeff any day, age 61 or not!

  • @ambermum So would I, and I'm 19! :P

  • Still a cut above the rest. Love this video version as well. Heres to hoping many more years of Jeff Lynne's body of work to continue and long live ELO music in our hearts and souls.

ELO for the rest of my life! Long live one of our best........

    Hugs,

    Mel

  • A great video for this song !

  • to this day I still dont know why this was never released as a 45 in the USA?

  • @ELONut Until the summer 1979 only two ELO songs had been performed in the Finnish TV. This one and Shine a Little Love. They were the great moments, cos the video time was still in the future. The Wembley Concert in 1978 was shown in our TV in the winter 1979 / 1980. Maybe your comment belongs to the mysteries of the life. You know, life is a mystery, isn´t it ?

  • @ELONut

This is one of ELO's best songs. I never even heard it until I bought their greatest hits. Love it!

  • @ELONut

Probably because by the time it was released Cowboys and Indians where a little passée if not a reminder of who had true right to the country.

  • Mmmm...I'd like to lasso him myself.

  • Amazing band..awesome production on

    all their records..!!

    ahead of their time...!!

  • This one was done up real good.

  • Makes me feel very nostalgic...great track.

    RIP Kelly

  • love this good memories of riding round in the seventies...nice one
