the shows that were "preachy" started at season one. every season contains episodes of moral convictions, just as every season contains comedy. The show evolved and didn't remain stagnant, thats how we got 11 seasons instead of 4...
Fast forward 20 years and Alda hosts Scientific Frontiers and STILL talsk to computers!
