there's an explantion for that. there's two slots, one next to the door, and one on the other facing wall. basically a fire shield will be deployed, so people don't use the elevators, and it will help people who are coming off of the elevators or are waiting for an elevator. it will also block flames and/or smoke from coming from the elevator shaft. you can also see on the safety map, two dashed lines, that is where the fire door would be.
