  • Nice lights, I've been thinking about adding a set to my own '08 KLR.

    Love that engine sound, too.

  • put that in my backyard for night party

  • What temperature would get me closest to the brightness of stock HID setups on luxury cars, as a lot of the aftermarket ones I've seen tend to be blindingly bright (in a bad way)?

  • F-ing cops got nothing better to do than arrest someone for a bright headlight.... You have no drug dealers or other crime activity in your area??

  • illegal?

  • nice camera, good video quality.

  • This guy lives in west bumfuck, where the hell is everybody?

  • @bigrich0926 Lmfao, west bumfuck lol.

  • i just saw this in a magizine and its worth the investment i think!!!!

  • Low gearing or it's just my imagination?

  • the best moto of the world

  • I need that STUPID BRIGHT motorcycle headlights.

    Wow, nice video.

  • Does anyone know if you could put a 08 headlight on a 92 KLR.

  • no the 08 uses a H7 bulb, the 92 uses a H4 bulb. the H4 is actually a better bulb but the 08 has 2 H7s.u should upgrade to hid you can find it on ebay for like 90$ its a efx kit.

  • Thank you

  • how does it do at 75 mph? would you recommend me getting one for a long road trip from utah to central america?

  • sure thing, you'll want to keep it at or under 5k rpms, if you are riding mostly pavement you may just want to get a vstrom or versys, but if you plan on doing mostly dirt roads and actually offroading, then you will love the klr.

People take these bikes all over the world on the hwy, mountains, tundra, everything... its a great all around bike, but it doesn't get anywhere fast. Its a packmule and will take you whereever you need to go.

  • Wow thats intense. 5/5

  • hey where did you get the kit? and how much was it? Thanks Terry

  • hey terry, i got the kit on ebay, it was about 80 bux. If you can change a headlight bulb on this bike, you can install this kit. there are various write ups about the hid kit, i believe i was 2nd or 3rd to do the hid kit on a 08+ klr. Its very simple overall and by far the best mod if you ride at night. A lot of people want to put fog lights and stuff on these bikes and if you have the hid kit, you will never need it, its almost brighter then it needs to be with highbeams on.,

  • What are you bitching about, D-bag?

  • WTF??? Did u hit ur head on ur way out of the bathroom???

  • Nice! I have an '09 KLR and now I'm thinking I need some STUPID BRIGHT headlights! Nice Vid!

  • i bought a green '08 KLR...sick bike! Loving every moment on it! Now for those HID lights...H7 you say? Where do you fit the circuit thingy and did you fit both the High ans Low beams with HID..aka 2 HID bulbs of the same power rating?

    Thanks man.

  • its a hid car kit, they are h7 bulbs, same power, same color etc. The ballast went behind the lights in the fairings. It was a pretty simple install.

  • Nice vid man. I've been trying to talk my wife into letting me get a bike for a long time now, and after seeing the KLR, I think I've found the one I want. It's not crazy fast, but can go anywhere - which is perfect. It looks like the HID kit is a good way to go..."stupid bright" is a good way of putting it! Where did you mount the ballasts though?

  • the klr is in a class of its own, i put it through its paces and it does great.

its not fast compared to other bikes, but it is faster then most cars and trucks off the line. its very fun to ride on.

the ballasts are behind the headlights in the fairings, they are tucked up out of the way from heat and water, but they are waterproof, so no big deal to get them soaked. (i have many times)

  • @mdsuave13 I don't know about all that...... I had a dude wanting to play a a light, my 06 KLR 650 vs a 78 KZ 1000. When the light turned green I busted his ass and slowed down for hime to catch up. Also, it was no where is site in the twisty's. The KLR is a fun bike, even in stock form. =)

  • On my first nightride I was simply amazed how good the headlights worked on my blue 08, even though the high beam was a pain to adjust. Been thinking of the HID kit for mine, how much brighter would you say it is if you had to put it in percentages? 25%, 50% brighter?

  • i would say low beam is as bright as the high/low combo stock, and the high/low combo hid is about 400-500% brighter, its like having 4 of headlights or more. Rediculously bright. no need for any kind of aux lights at all.

  • you're helping me with my choice of a new bike...well on the way to getting a 2008 KLR now..haha. Good vids man, keep up the good work!

  • thanks friend, the 2008 klr is a FANTASTIC bike, but only if you know what you are getting, its not fast, not a hwy threading wheelie monster, its not even that amazing off road. Its just a jack of all trades meant for getting to point a to point b, not fast, but in a straight line :)

out of owning 5 street bikes and 8 dirtbikes, its by far my fave bike because it serves a purpose, i ride it every day in every weather. its fun as can be, but i knew what i was getting when i purchased it.

  • ja man, i know..been doing heaps of reading up on bikes and it's coming out tops by a heck of a long way! With a following like it has and a reputation of no nonsense reliability..it's what i'm looking for. How's the consumption on it? I want to do some ultra long distance touring eventually...like the whole continent of Africa..haha and some flyfishing up in remote places...looks like the right buy for that sorta thing.

  • Could you give a little more details on what make of what make of light that is... thanks for the video and how do you like your 08 klr650?

  • its a kit from HIDwholesale88 on ebay.

the 2008 is great! its more refined and a lot of the problems from the previous years have been solved. The only downfall is that now its pretty enough to be upset if you drop it on rocks (which i have before)

  • kool video man and do u lik that the lights dont move wit the steerin wheel? im thinkin about buyin one

  • it doesnt bother me, since 90% of street bikes have headlights that don't turn, its not really missed for me.

Plus the new headlight on the 2008 is a million times brighter, especially with the HID's.

  • I am getting ready to purchase a 2008 model KLR, and I am curious, what HID kit did you get and where did you purchase it?

  • i got the HID kit from ebay for about 80 dollars. It was an h7 car kit. The kit fit like a glove.

  • That light is bright. That light looks like the one the police helicopter shines down on the suspect. I'm just curious did you change the adjustment on the light because it looks like it should be adjustment more to right not to blind oncoming drivers.

  • i didn't have to adjust it, its very bright, but it has a great cutoff due to the design of the new headlight reflectors on the 2008.

It doesn't blind oncoming drivers in the least, if i turn on highbeams, it would blind everyone including the astronauts orbiting the planet!

  • Your not kidding. That's super bright. I live in Canada and don't like to ride in town, (to many morons in SUV's) so I try and stick to the sticks and up north. I was looking at getting a KLR and this is just one more check in the yes box. Thanks for the video.

  • just remember that these lights are not stock, they are the HID retrofit kit (about 80 dollars us)

the stock headlights are more then bright enough, but i wanted to free up some wattage for my heated gear and navigation.

  • these hid's are much brighter in person then they show up in the video, i can see EVERYTHING at night perfectly with them
