  • @macdaddysw Don't like it? Don't look.

  • I LOVE the sound of the supercharger on the car. i'm working on fully building an 88 2 door GLS. The engine is in the works as we speak, and i'm lookin for something that will help me get as close as possible to a 13 second 1/4 mile. Any chances i could get all the specs on ur S/C? Love the work

  • The S/C is an Eaton M62, with a 6-groove Ford pickup alternator pulley bored out and fitted to the carrier. Running, at this time, with a stock crank pulley, I'm getting about 7-7.5 psi. As far as current horsepower, I have no hard numbers. But the increase is significant enough to make traction a problem in 1st and 2nd gears...with engine management, I think I could approach 200 hp, but i won't do any hardcore bragging until I have dyno/time slips in hand.

  • nice, i saw ur cardomain site. Are you still workin on putting the M90 in?

How does the 2.3 like the boost? do you have any other mods to the engine? are you still running the HSC cam and stock 1.6 rockers?

  • The M90 is on hold. I'll need to notch out the lower core support and install a custom rad to fit it. the rad will have to sit inside the core support, with a remote filler. Also, the engine won't handle much more than I'm currently giving it, with it's cast bottom end. I have 30# Turbo-Coupe injectors, a Kirban FPR made for a Mustang, HSO head and cam, and a header. Exhaust is 2.5" mandrel-bent, with a glasspack. An MSD boost timing master and Walbro pump help out, but I need management badly.

  • Thanks for all the info. Like i said, i'm working on an 88 Tempo GLS cpe, and i'm looking to brake into the 13's or better and i'm thinking a S/C is what i'm going to need for the extra power. You can follow the project if you want on cardomain. Its rare89tempogls's 1988 Ford Tempo GLS.

  • how much hp do you have now?

  • i bet the inside of your piece of shit tempo smells like cheese and feet... awesome car bro

  • You'd lose that bet.

I have yet to claim the car is "awesome". It's a fun, unique little daily driver. Those that have seen it in person appreciate the work I've done to it, whether they like it or not. It was built on a budget, with no aftermarket support. It's not fast at all, but quick for what it is...a Tempo. Don't like it; move along....

  • this is the dumbs shit i have ever seen

  • Haters gonna hate.

  • Thanks for the comments, guys.

  • your tempo may have eaten my tempo but my 5 speed pick up would

    eat ur tempo

  • I'll take your word for it bro. My Tempo is far from the fastest thing out there, but it's a fun little beast as well as a reliable DD. I was just giving you sh!t for you vid title (lol), though it follows the car community's general opinion of these cars. I fully understand their faults and limitations, and realize where they sit in the "food chain"...but in spite of that, I like 'em.

No offense intended bro, just spouting off...

  • man i know but like i got the car for free and it just pissed me off for the first 5 days i owned it i ended up selling it for like 1000 etested bought the truck so they may not be the fastest thing in the world but they are reliable i give them that i only had mine going 140 at about 4000 rpm my truck on the other hand it does 140 in 4th gear does 190 in 5th

  • OK, I'll bite; what kind of pickup does 190? Is that MPH or KM/H? In for vid.

  • its a 92 chev pick up 5 speed and its km/h

  • 5.7? Pretty solid motor, tons of torque. Sounds like a good machine, you should get years of service out of it.

  • ya baby :)

  • yea if you have a 5 speed that engine is not bad... my buddy has one in his ranger with the stick and its loads better..... a 3 speed auto is SLOW!

  • The 2.3 in the Ranger isn't the same motor; it's an OHC engine based on a German design. The 2.3 in the Tempo/Topaz is a pushrod engine, based on Ford's old inline 6. In fact, it's basically an I-6 with 2 cylinders cut off.

But yes, the difference is night & day between the auto & 5-speed. As far as the Ranger is concerned, the one with the auto has shorter gears IIRC. Swap such a rearend into a 5-speed Ranger, and I'm told the acceleration gets better...

  • my topaz had 160 thousand miles and it was a 92. I had the 3 speed and I had to pull out onto a 65 zone with crossing opposing traffic and a VERY short speed up lane... had to shift it manually just to get it to do what i wanted it to do..... my view: its a town puddle jumper buy urs is awesome!
