Uhm, it's not always about being ON KEY but about how you present yourself. If you ever see wicked with the original broadway cast Idina Menzel wasn't always ON KEY but she brought so much life to her singing that in enhanced the musical(in defying gravity) and also Kristin Chenoweth when she sang popular added her own touches. It's all give and take when preforming a musical.
