  • Nice video.. My state bird and we hardly ever see them... I had read somewhere's they are on a decline...

  • Nice footage of this beautiful little bird. BTW, this is the official state bird of New Hampshire. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • I bought a finch feeder and put a seed mix of thistle seeds with other seeds, and I see about 3-4 purple finches everyday :) They are sooooo beautiful!!!

  • It's called a purple finch because of the Latin word "purpureus" which means 'crimson'

  • @Sparrowhawk1031 That's good to know, thank you. :)

  • I feed them all summer, but haven't seen them in winter. Apparently I need to do more research. Thanks for posting these cute little birds. Do the males change color in winter to look like sparrows?

  • @greyhoundfriend123 Hmmmm, I can't say that I know. I think they leave here in the fall and come back in the Spring. Sorry that I can't help you with that. Anyway, I'm glad you liked watching the purple finch though. :)

  • These little guys always make nests in my hanging flower baskets in the summertime. My mom calls their chicks "the hippie birds" because they have long 'hair' atop their scrawny little heads. XD

  • @Raichu862000 AWWWWww, how cute is that? I've never seen the babies of these little birds. :( I'd really like someday to see their babies though.

  • What a nice day to be a little bird. :)

  • Indeed! He was loving it! =D
