i bought one for my nephew and changed the batteries and its doing the same thing.. i wasnt touching it and it randomly said "Elmo help me" then later on it said "Elmo kill me" there was more then one person in the room to confirm what it said.. so clearly it is a malfunction in the doll

Sometimes people smile and stuff out of nervousness or to be polite, after all it is a tv interview we're talking about..., just because she was smiling doesn't mean she thought it was funny, she wasn't laughing, and why would a mother do something like that to her child's toy? Unless I'm wrong and she's actually a horrible person, I seriously doubt the mother had anything to do with it/did it and not admit to it just for fame or whatever reason.

It's obvious that this is all a big hoax. First of all, it's stated that the doll is a Know Your Name doll. The mom could have easily programmed it to say "Kill James" and the doll would have thought that the child's name is supposed to be that.

Second, the news reporter says that the mom "is not laughing". If that was true, then why was the mom smiling and grinning throughout the whole interview?
