Its not a matter of the bands being different, it's a matter of Radiohead being vastly superior to Smashing Pumpkins.

That being said, I haven't listened to Kid A and I think Radiohead is a good band. But they are, in fact, vastly different from the Pumpkins. Adore was a risk, maybe an unnecessary one, but it's not held by anyone to be a defining album for the Pumpkins. If you want to bash the Pumpkins in the general sense, you'll have to bash their best works as well as their worst.

Listen to purely instrumental music, while that may not be what we are always looking for, I like to hear singing to and have lyrics, it's solely what music is. Lyrics are like the icing on the cake.
