The only thing I didn't like about this great movie was that they killed off Saurod. His Special FX looks great - Reptilian and realistic, and I just thought the Producers could have done more with the character.

Having said that, I recall the movie didn't have much of a budget, so it's understandable we didn't see more of Saurod. (They should have killed the evil Treasure Troll, damn it!)

@DidaDragan my guess for the other thing is because they didn't want to offend the fans of the show by killing off a character. as for the others probably they felt it would be too hard to do the characters with make-up.

However I think new henchmen give the impression that Skeletor actually has many more henchmen than shown in the cartoon (Skeletor even has an army here after all). Moreover none of the original villains are defined by ancient weaponry to anywhere near the degree that swords define Blade. As guns are FAR more prominent in the film (even He-Man has them!) a character like Blade restores some of the scifi/sword and sorcery coexistence quintessential to MOTU.

Considering this was the 80s, this is when most of the special effects were practical instead of CGI. If they were to make a Masters of the Universe movie today, Skeletor would probably have a CGI skull head.

I wonder if they will use this same makeup application for Red Skull in the New Captain America movie. Since Red Skull's face actually looks like that, only red.

Foster is underplaying, letting her eyes and cool voice do most of the work. Langella isn't playing to the back row...he's playing to the ends of the solar system; magnificently operatic, but not laughably so. This guy is scary...

i think a 2011-2012 version would look GREAT too
